It sure don't take long for the authoritarians to take over and use force and guns to get their way.  Just like Douglas MacArthur wanted to put up machine guns and shoot the bonus veterans of war I in Washington DC.
Troll, they are destroying private and public property.....they are harming Police Officers trying to do their job....how to you think this is authoritarian?  It is called Law and Order.  Even you should be able to understand this........but you are so caught up in your ideology and pissed because you lost, that you are not thinking straight....c'mon!

I'm not sure, but Trump won by the laws of the land........and by a LANDSLIDE Troll.  I hate to keep saying this (not really) You Lost; Get Over It!

You guys complained about us being bad losers, but WOW!....We never lowered ourselves to violence and riots....c'mon, Troll, grow up and accept it.

They are pissed because they really wanted to believe that America HATED TRUMP, but they don't.

Just wait it's far from being over, the circus is just beginning.  Yep, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani.  What were the words in that song?  Bring in the clowns, bring in the clowns----- they're already here.

Authoritarianism often masks itself behind the euphemism of law and order.

I wouldn't expect you and 'me' to see that.

And how are you going to take it if it happens to be your car or house they come after or if your wife needs to get to the hospital but can't because these idiots are blocking the road and you can't get past them? Are you going to want the police to help you then or are you just going to sit there and let it happen?

This was his goal in the first place, the violence, and if marshall law isn't declared I'll be very surprised. As I stated way back when, I hope HH and I aren't the ones saying "I told you so".

:roll eyes:

You really are nuts.  I saw this same tripe from a right wing nut job on my FB page.

At least he could set a precedent.....because, if more violence continues, the National Guard needs to be sent in.  I think it would have a great purpose...to eliminate collateral damage that may occur.

I'm not sure what you mean by hyper critical commentary?

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. It's just that simple and has been for 8 years. It is never enough or overreaching in the eyes of his detractors, and their caterwauling is now falling on deaf ears. Deaf ears of their own creation.

His detractors have been ranting since well before he took office; even during the first campaign for POTUS. And they have never stopped, and now that he is in the final 90 days in office they still have not stopped.

The people of this country feel like they've "made a statement". Now what statement would that be? Especially as we see already that the president elect's administration is going to be filled with the very individuals that started this violent cycle.

Since instead of sending the congressional do nothings responsible for 8 years of saying no to everything to the unemployment lines, we instead give them full control of the entire government.

We've just endured 8+ years of being held hostage by political extremists and now they have assumed full control. How in the eyes of anyone reasonable does this positively impact anything in this nation, except for those making 1 million dollars a year or more in income? The answer is it doesn't, and while the optimism is understood by this poster, the historic based analysis says it is not only misplaced but in reality the end of the middle class in this nation.

I don't see how putting the likes of Christy, Gingrich, et al into his administration helps anyone but the already wealthy in this nation. These are the very same people that hawked the elimination of the social safety nets of this country and held the government hostage to their political ideals, and now we've turned control over to them.

I've listened to friends and family hawking about how this was a historic turnout for this election. Historic? Really? The fact is the turnout in this election was the lowest it has been in 20 years, so the real statement is the high level of apathy that is obviously present within 50% of the voting aged population of this nation. They didn't care so they didn't vote.

I get the electoral vote process and there was a time when it made sense in this nation to use it. It may still make sense; however, until this nation learns to deal with situations like the one we find ourselves in today wherein the "popular vote" results are opposite what the electoral vote results are, until we learn to accept the election results as adults and act that way, until we refuse to accept violent behavior as normal, then perhaps going back to tabulation of popular votes needs to take precedence again. I don't know but it certainly needs to be reviewed. Especially when the future of this nation is at stake.

Yes this election was historic. But one has to remember that history also covers the tragic failures of people and nations. We'll soon see where this one lands but the early signs are not looking good.

Many of us are tired of it.   I want the "right" things to start being done.

I'd say that's true on the Democratic side.  I'm not sure apathetic is a proper adjective to describe Trump voters.

Yep, the Democrats are good at sitting on their asses and watching the world go by.  We will see the spot they are sitting on get real hot when the start to realize what Trump and the Republican can and will do to this country.  They need their asses burned.

Pffft!  The 'Right' is almost invariably wrong.

The Drumpf isn't a 'leader' - unless your 'idea' of a leader is a psychopathic, narcissistic, racist, bigot, authoritarian, wanna-be banana republic dictator.

He's a self-serving cretin who has walked all over every little person he's come across in his pursuit to be 'god'.

Many - if not most - of the 'right' things you want done are those intent on taking rights and liberties from others and self-serving economic advantages which deprive others in our society.

Your last lines are nothing but your 'dog whistling' racism.

Had my eyes checked today.  Received a good report from the doctor, but here I am, 5 hours later and my eyes are still dilated!     I've been wearing sunglasses ever since, even now.  I'm glad my eyes are healthy, but, really, couldn't they tone down on the dilating eye drops?

I have to have mine dialated every time I go for my yearly check-up now because macular degeneration runs in mom's side of the family and my eyes are elongated like a football, which is why I was so myopic until after my cataract surgery, and I'm at a higher risk for it since both are working against me. I just hope if it does happen it's the dry as opposed to the wet 'cause getting shots in my eyeball is sure something I really don't want.
