FIGMO is an old military acronym.

When someone had received his/her orders to be transferred from one duty station to another, or was about to retire, or, for any other reason, was about to change the place where he/she worked, occasionally he/she would not work with quite the same zeal for accomplishing mission as he/she perhaps once was.

When questioned about this, one would usually reply, "F**k It, I Got My Orders"; hence, the "FIGMO" acronym.

Well in that case, I've been FIGMO since mid May when I was first informed the job was going away.  Didn't feel the need to wait on the official "orders" though.

Where did your job go.  Outsourced overseas or Mexico?

Where did you come up with you name 442.  Would it be from one of those good looking, fast Oldsmobile.  I had 1957 J2 Oldsmoble.  It came with three, two barrel carbs, about a 3/4 cam, oversize exaust and it came from the factory that way.  Sure beat a lot of Chevys and Fords.

My job was just eliminated.  I had been working as a compliance specialist for over 15 years, and apparently worked myself out of a job.  Lilly is cutting back various support functions company wide, and mine was one of them.  No big deal, as they have given me a very generous severance package as a parting gift to go along with my retirement.  No reduction in benefits either.  After 37 years with the company I was anxious to bail out, and the severance allows me to do it now.  Waiting longer would serve no purpose other than to keep me here longer.  Pay was pretty much topped out and the pension was not growing any larger for the most part, so staying longer just did not seem like a great idea, when I can take the extra money and run.  This deal just moved me forward 5 years without aging.

The 4-4-2 thing?  I've owned this 1970 since 1973.  It's made quite  a few passes through the Anderson Frisch's in my younger days.  455, 4 speed, as it should be.  Once we get moved, I am going to start on the restoration.  This picture was taken in 2007 at the Lansing Olds Homecoming show.

I know about making passes through Frisch's.  You were there about 13 year after I was there.  Was the Alibi still there and Banana Nose.

Isn't it a shame about Anderson.  It was the place to go and have fun in the 50's, 60's and the 70's.

Mr442

The Alibi was still downtown a the new McDonald's location, and a second Alibi was on 53rd street by then.  Banana Nose sounds familiar.  Was he the LEO at Frisch's?

The Jumbo was on Broadway, but we never went there.  Cadillac Corner was up the street from Regenold Pontiac on Pendleton Avenue, which was up the street from Bert Owens ice cream.  Lots of changes since those days.

The Alibi I was talking about was up Broadway towards town from Frisch's.  Banana Nose was a cop at the Alibi who was hired to keep us kid under control, ha, ha, ha.

Old Elmo Flatt who owned the Alibi at one time thought we were making to many passes through and we weren't spending enough money there.  So he had Banana Nose collect a quarter each time we dove through and a cover charge when you park to eat.  Well, we struck the place.  We quit going in even once.  The damn place became a ghost town.  Nobody was there and at one time it was the hottest place in Anderson.  Wellllllll, Banana Nose took a vacation, Elmo put up a sign that there no more charges and the place became the place to be.

Bert T. Owens, there were two.  The one you were talking about and the one that was on Columbus Avenue.  Sure loved a triple thick chocolate malt.

I am proud to say that I was a dairy dipper at Bert T. Owens back in the day.....It was one of the funnest jobs I had ever had,  I met some of my best friends there, and we ALWAYS had a great time during and after work....they had some GREAT ice cream and excellent sandwiches, especially the Roast Beef....hard to find one today that matches that great taste today....Troll, I was probably one that made one of those triple thick choclate malts for you....we always had a great crowd during the summer.....had the remy boys hitting us hard on their lunch breaks.

Dad was a regular lunch time customer at the Pendleton Ave store in the late 60's.  He worked at Regenold Pontiac just up the street.
