Well, the little reception went well today.  Lot's of good food, including a cake, a nice card signed by that particular shift, and a lot of well wishes.  Good folks and good friends, gonna miss them. :smitten:

If  you're anything like me, you will miss some of the people.  But believe me, you won't miss the job and miss going in everyday.

I been retired 14 years and I still dream about the damn place.  It about the same thing.  I working on some machine and it down.  I got a bunch of white shirts hovering over me, asking when am I going to get it to run.  I tell that I need a part and they give me that dumb look that they can give and say, "What part?"  I guess it was because it happen so many time.

I have told many people, that having had worked at Ford for 38 years.  I have done so much with so little, I can fix anything with nothing.  Not good, but true.

Happy retirement.  If you came out with 10 fingers, 10 toes, 2 eyes, you still can hear and you still have 1/2 of a mind.  You did damn good.  I got my finger, toes, eyes, lost some hearing around those large presses and bolt makers.  But my mind, you will have to ask my wife, she sometimes thinks I'm braindead and I can't hear.  I could be selective hearing.

I have the other end of the week folks tomorrow, so I get to say more good-byes Thursday and Friday.  Although, the shift that will be on days the next two days, has far less people I am close to.  Younger group, less time in the department and such.  I'll sure be glad when the end of Friday gets here.  Don't know what time that will be, but likely not much past noon at the most.

Gonna miss some folks, and the interactions, but I sure will enjoy the time off to do what needs doing around here.  I used to work the 12 hour shift work, enjoyed my 3 and 4 days off each week, but that was 15 years ago.  Been on eight hour days since that time.  Having more than two days off at a time will be good, especially since I won't have any nights or weekends at work.  Now I will have the days off, plus all the weekends.  Finally a shift I like.

Well, it's a done deal.  I walked out the gate for the last time about 12:15 PM on Friday.  My boss walked me out, and now I can claim I was escorted out by security.   He oversees security as well as safety, so it was all in good fun.  He is a great guy and a friend, the company needs more like him.

Now it's time to get busy around the house, and get it ready to sell.

Wow, this retirement stuff is great.  Was too busy yesterday to even get on-line.  I did get the A/C working in the wife's car, thanks to a replacement compressor.  She is much happier now, so everyone else will breathe a little easier.  Tomorrow will find me back in the bathroom for another pass a the drywall project, then outside to cut the weeds/grass at my house and the son's.  I may have some more 'puter time then.
