Don't do motorcycles anymore and was always a passenger when i did.  I figure I can terrify more people in the car than on a bike anyway..... :icon_twisted:

Many years ago, in the mid 1960's, I was riding with my grandmother in her nearly new 1962 Bonneville.  We were stopped at a light on 67 in Fortville, in the righthand northbound lane.  The service truck from the Fortville 66 station rolled up on our left.  Grandma instinctively knew he was planning on jumping ahead so he could turn into the station just a short ways ahead on the right.  When the light turned green, grandma nailed the gas on the big old Pontiac, and left a trail of burned rubber on the highway, along with a very surprised pick up driver in the other lane.  When I asked why she did what she did, she said," he wasn't going to cut her off."  Sure enough, the truck did drop in behind and turn in.  Grandma was way cooler after that, and we talked about that day until she passed. :smitten: :smitten:

Sounds like your granny and I may have gotten along quite well.  Bet she could have speed shifted if she'd been in a stick too.

In 1959 I had a 300 HP J-2 Oldsmobile.  My mother borrow it to go to Indianapolis, she didn't know Indianapolis very well so she let a neighbor drive.  The same thing happen to the neighbor on Senate street.  When the light change the neighbor push the gas to the floor and mother said, "with wheels smoking we went down Senate street sideways.

I blame my late father for instilling that habit into me from a very young age. Dad loved to beat them off the line. . . Fortunately, riding the steel horse has tempered that habit substantially in me.

I used to mash the gas when a possum crossed my path. They're nothing but big disease carrying rats in my opinion. . . But now I instinctively steer around them without thinking. . . Because I have to do so when riding. . .

Yep, a big possum full of possum grease under the front tire of your Hog could get interesting, just like a pile of sand or gravel.

I ran square over a big ol groundhog about 4 years ago. Scared the bejeebus out of me, but I killed him instead of him killing me or giving me some severe road rash.

When I got home, I loaded up the dog into the truck and took him over to see it. Somewhere on this forum are some pics of that!

After a little more than 4 weeks since losing Mac, life is getting back to normal.  To say it has been rough would be an understatement.  I can't imagine how someone deals with losing a child.  We have not done anything stupid, like finding a replacement, we are just getting back to how things were before Mac came to stay last fall.  As much as we miss him, it is good to have the furniture uncovered again, along with avoiding other issues he brought with him.  The wife and I have both done a little window shopping on the web, but both agree we don't need another pet at this time.  Cody and Abbie are both obviously more at ease and back to normal without Mac around.  It's still gonna be tough when Greg comes home to visit later this year, but we will all get through it together.

It's best when you just let "nature" take it's course. I've always kind of felt that our furry friends are not so much chosen by us as we are chosen by them.  One day you'll run across your next "life guide" and there will be no resistance. S/he will break through the pain in your heart and wash it away by running rampant through every square inch of it.

When one leaves us, the next is just awaiting the day when our paths cross; and while they do not come into our lives to replace those that came before them, they do come to please their new pack leader(s) and blaze their own territory in our hearts.  :smitten: :smitten:

Glad to hear your guys are learning to cope!

Going to the Brickyard 400 thanks to Kroger!  Last Saturday the wife and I did our semi monthly trip to Kroger for supplies.  When we got home she happened to be going over the receipt, and found something that said we were eligible to win two free Brickyard tickets.  I went on-line to the IMS ticket site and entered the code, and saw something saying I was once again eligible.   At that point I went ahead and registered as a user, giving them my address and such.  Then I see another message saying I would soon receive an e-mail confirming my ticket order.  Sure enough, I had an e-mail telling me the tickets would be mailed to me.  They came today!  I am taking my youngest (27) son with me.  They are $90 ea. tickets for seats about midway in the tower terrace in row DD.  Ought to be decent seats, especially for the price

Take plenty of cash for the water and adult beverages you're going to need in the sweltering heat.

Outside of that, enjoy and CONGRATS! (I just love it when I see the good guys win)!  8)

I cut the grass last Wednesday, the first time since late May.  We finally got enough rain to green up the weeds, so I made the place a little better looking.  The yard actually had a overall green tint to it, instead of brown.  Now with the rain we had yesterday, looks like I may need to mow again next week.  It was getting so bad, I thought about hooking up the smart charger to the lawn mower battery.

Going to the Moto GP at IMS Sunday.  Got more free tickets from Kroger.  This time the seats are on the outside of turn 4 (the oval) and we will be able to see quite a bit of the course right in front of us.  I didn't buy a parking permit until I saw where we would be sitting.  If they had been like the last seats, I wasn't going to bother.  Look for a report next week.
