I understand your belief that God does not exist.  But does that mean that just because someone believes, they do not possess the ability to use critical thinking or be logical.  I'm almost positive that there are scientists out there proving all you believe in, in contradiction to their own personal belief.  My question is....do YOU really think that all this bashing is really going to change the mind of a believer?  I don't think it is, so it's really just a lot of wasted 'breath'.  Just like if I started posting all the things I believe to be a fact for me, there would be half a continent trying to convince me I'm wrong, but my own experiences contradict what people try to tell me. And so I'll not ever be able to believe as they do.  I will just tell them they are entitled to their belief and their thoughts on the subject, and I'd prefer to just not discuss it any longer.   But it has no bearing on MOST of the logic that I use.  My belief's don't always steer my reality.

So you see why I ask the question?

All delusional thought deserves to be challenged; If for nothing more than the total dishonesty of it.  Why should the craziness of religion get a pass?  It certainly doesn't deserve all the social support (tax breaks, etc) or leniency where one just has to say "I gave my heart to jesus" and get a free get-out-of-jail card, or overlook the charlatans that are sucking in money from those who can least afford it (and don't have the education to know why they shouldn't give), etc, etc.  Religion is a leech on society and the easily duped.

There is a genetic predisposition, and a hold over from our ancestry, that compels humans to believe in the supernatural.  The weak of mind really believe as they have nothing in their own intellect to believe in.  However, some of us have moved on and are just trying to help the rest of you evolve

GREAT question Pari.....

Here is my take on why God does NOT suck.......God is the creator of the universe and all that is in it, He is in control of EVERYTHING....period... :preach:.... Any thing He chooses to do to any part of His creation is His sovereign right...:preach:...God is accountable no one...:preach:....He reports to nobody. He does not owe any explanation for anything He says or does....He is the Almighty....the Alpha and the Omega......:preach:....

I do not expect or even try to understand His purpose or why we have our trials and tribulations..... But for me, I believe that that He loves us too much to harm our eternal being.... And he has provided a way to to prevent that harm....and pretty simple way.......and that He is far more concerned with our welfare than we are.

God's choices are always right.......He is able to do ANYTHING beyond that which our minds can comprehend...and I also believe that Nothing in His universe happens by chance or accident......for every effect there is a cause......God "worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory" (Ephesians 1:11-12). Yep, that's MY thoughts on this in a nutshell.........drop a few cents into the collection plate on your way out... ;)

You see, this is the problem with the delusion; humans can't do anything, god does it all, and if I stay stupid enough, he will just take care of me....

The second thing is the whole reason behind "his" plan; we stay stupid, ask god for everything, and as long as he is praised by humans, he is happy.  We make nice pets.  The creator of the universe needs an everlasting supply of "hugs"?  You have to be shitting me.  This delusion has been honed for centuries into a real mind fuk, and why "his" followers almost never ask the most basic, simplest questions, like; why?  They never really stop and ask; why did the creator of the universe need so many human sacrifices and adoration for it?

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

I think you are wrong.

How do you know that schizophrenics continue to be 'counseled'?  I don't think writing a prescription once every month, or two, constitutes being counseled.

the way I look at it, if you stay stupid enough, you will never learn what God has in store for all of us....God gave us a brain to use, and the ability to make our own decisions......on everything......He also gave us a Book on how to do things and how NOT to do things....a set of instructions on how we SHOULD live.....but we can and do live by whatever means we choose....I personally, am THANKFUL to God, that He gave me a path to take....He gave you the same path IF you choose to take it.....

and I often ask..WHY?....I have spent a great deal of time reading and discussing the ... WHY's....sometimes, I come up with reasonable answers...and sometimes I don't....but, the bottom line for me is.....it really don't make a hill of beans IF I know why or why not to several issues......I don't ALWAYS tell my kids WHY they have to do something, other than just because I said so....they don't always know WHY or need to know WHY I want them to do a particular thing, because I have MY reasons for them to something.

my opinion on why there was so many sacrifices in the old test, was for us to understand what it means to give something important for unselfish reasons....to truly understand what a 'sacrifice' IS....to GIVE a material object and receive something that you may not even be able to see...something spiritual.

Believing and having faith & hope, in things that have NOT been proven by scientist..does not mean you do not have the ability to use critical thinking or be logical.  The Bible is filled full of extremely valuable lessons and rules on how to live.  Have you ever read through proverbs?....it is loaded with wisdom on how to live life.

It is easy to pick passages from the Bible and turn them into ridicules meanings......you have got to take the WHOLE book and analyze it.....not just take words out of content.....the more I read it, the more it makes sense....AMAZING sense.

THIS is just my take on it......Dan, EX, and a few others on here, just LOVE to BASH it....to me it only shows your ignorance on something you refuse to open your mind to....but that is YOUR choice, just the way God intended it to be.

I don't agree.

I can see why you wouldn't agree, because I perhaps know a bit more about your beliefs that others may know.  However, the problem is that you and those like you who are both spiritual and possess an interest in the sciences are the exception rather than the norm.  I think that Ex's assessment is true most of the time.

Maybe so. I just will always question blanket statements like that.

I have.  I've also found that when I needed help, the only one around to help me was me.  Gawd was nowhere to be found, even long ago when I was actually looking for him.

No doubt.  Had a flat tire, pulled over, got the tools and the spare out...I was helping myself but God never showed up.

I realize you will never accept that those of us who studied (and I mean really studied vice your spoonfed version) "the faith" to its LOGICAL conclusion based on the brains WE DO possess find it to be vile, tragic and MINDLESS.  It is sad that you need to believe and that you are the perfect example of the delusion.  And it is OK, hank.  You can live the lie all you want, but you will just have to accept that those of us who know better won't give you the pass you are looking for and no matter what you think, ANY questioning of your faith is met by the delusion fighting it as bashing or your little (and I really do mean little no matter how extensive you think the mind game is) universe will crumble before your eyes.

By the way, my favorite life lesson from the good book;

Song of Solomon 2:3
As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

Those catholic girls know how to treat a man.  A real lesson in life!  Every young man should be so lucky.  So now, you scurry off and see what interpretation you need to keep the delusion alive.  Your life lessons are really about who interprets them for you, isn't it?
