And I've worried about that.  It's bad enough when you think they might be peeping in your windows....but to have them in the same room with you....and you can't even see them?  Now if they MAKE a peep, I'll know they are there.
Looks like I've come full circle.

Basically God looks like us because we were created in his own image. What they don't teach you in school is that the big bang is a theory, evolution is a theory, a theory that even Darwin himself admitted was flawed. If you do the research, you will see that the fossil evidence strongly supports a world wide flood and a sudden appearance of different species rather than a slow evolution. The reason that we go to space and explore the planet is bacause God did not give us complete knowledge of his creation. He wanted us to explore and learn and grow, can you imagine how unbearable life would be if there was nothing more to learn? Take some time, do some research, open your heart and your mind and find out why we're really here, you'll be glad you did.

Today God saved the lives of my 11 year old Nephew and me. We were kayaking with two of my Brothers and a Family friend when a we hit a partially submerged tree. Me and my Nephew were in a two-man kayak. We flipped and were carried under the water by the current. All I could do was to pray we wouldn't get caught underwater on a limb or something else. I got spat out about 20 feet downstream and yelled is everybody o.k.? My Nephew who was wearing a life jacket was nowhere to be seen. He was trapped underwater and we couldn't find him. Thank God he was under the kayak and could breathe. We got to him in what seemed like an eternity. Jesus was watching over us today and I am reanalyzing my life. It was a horrible experience that turned out o.k. I will be in church the next time the doors open. Thank you God for sparing my life.

Once more ole' Gawd gets the credit, but shares none of the blame for this accident happening in the first place.   Also, the church comment begs the question as to whether this person was previously a church goer, or is going to start up again because she thinks Jeezus saved her arse on the river.

Yeah, I read s tory this morning about how Hurricane Ike had knocked down this family's fence so they took their dogs to a boarding kennel and somehow they got away from there and were lost.  One of the dogs was found shortly thereafter but the other was missing for 10 months until it was found.  The woman said she was crying and thanking the lord.  So, the lord isn't responsible for the hurricane or for destroying their fence or for letting the dogs escape from the kennel or for leaving one of them to fend for herself for 10 months but was responsible for the pooch finally being found?  WTF?
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Why do you guys who don't believe in God care?  I just don't get it. If you don't believe in something, why expend all this energy to knock it around?

GREAT question Pari.....

Here is my take on why God does NOT suck.......God is the creator of the universe and all that is in it, He is in control of EVERYTHING....period... :preach:.... Any thing He chooses to do to any part of His creation is His sovereign right...:preach:...God is accountable no one...:preach:....He reports to nobody. He does not owe any explanation for anything He says or does....He is the Almighty....the Alpha and the Omega......:preach:....

I do not expect or even try to understand His purpose or why we have our trials and tribulations..... But for me, I believe that that He loves us too much to harm our eternal being.... And he has provided a way to to prevent that harm....and pretty simple way.......and that He is far more concerned with our welfare than we are.

God's choices are always right.......He is able to do ANYTHING beyond that which our minds can comprehend...and I also believe that Nothing in His universe happens by chance or accident......for every effect there is a cause......God "worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory" (Ephesians 1:11-12). Yep, that's MY thoughts on this in a nutshell.........drop a few cents into the collection plate on your way out... ;)

Because people like those who we've cited vote, and vote largely on misguided beliefs in supernatural things that simply don't exist.  Religion, and its followers, have been and continue to be detriments to the progress of the human race.  We need a lot less Gawd and a lot more rational thought and critical thinking by the masses.

Case in point is HH's post above.

and yet you are the not so silent minority.what does that tell me? that you are the idiot you keep calling others

Locutus

You're actually putting forth the position that critical thinking and scientific based thoughts and beliefs makes me an idiot, and people (like I'm assuming you are) who believe in a supernatural being without one shred of evidence to support it are intelligent??

LMAO!!

I understand your belief that God does not exist.  But does that mean that just because someone believes, they do not possess the ability to use critical thinking or be logical.  I'm almost positive that there are scientists out there proving all you believe in, in contradiction to their own personal belief.  My question is....do YOU really think that all this bashing is really going to change the mind of a believer?  I don't think it is, so it's really just a lot of wasted 'breath'.  Just like if I started posting all the things I believe to be a fact for me, there would be half a continent trying to convince me I'm wrong, but my own experiences contradict what people try to tell me. And so I'll not ever be able to believe as they do.  I will just tell them they are entitled to their belief and their thoughts on the subject, and I'd prefer to just not discuss it any longer.   But it has no bearing on MOST of the logic that I use.  My belief's don't always steer my reality.

So you see why I ask the question?
