Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Shocking!

What is shocking is that Guv Christie has no qualms about locking up someone who has been exposed to Ebola, yet he believes that it's OK to endanger millions of children by not requiring vaccinations.

Dead serious...

Seal all our borders, let no visitors from any country in?

Are YOU serious?  c'mon, you know EXACTLY what I mean, at least I hope you do.  Visitors must follow our process and abide by our laws.  People SNEAKING across the boarder are NOT VISITORS.  They need to be screened and go through the process, like those who actually do.

I would bet this measles outbreak is started from an illegal immigrant.

I'm sorry but that's just stupid. France has one of the largest measles infection rates in the world. How many Messicans do you think came from France?

Odds are that it did come from a foreign visitor. But it certainly spread because of the anti-vaxxers in this country. And Christie and Paul are only hurting the situation.

I cannot possibly disagree with you more! It only takes a tad of common sense to evaluate this situation and conclude the obvious.  How many kids did we recently distribute across this nation from the flood of illegals from central america that has never been faxed?

To even think that this is not a possibility is crazy!

I'll say one thing, this measles controversy is certainly something to detract people from noticing what else is going on. Shouldn't more attention be paid to the reaction of our administration to the burning of the Jordanian pilot?

.

And the odds are you would lose that bet. There is not a single shred of evidence that "patient zero" in the United States was an illegal immigrant. IIRC this whole thing blossomed at Disneyland. . . And lets see. . . tourist trap. . . child oriented venue. . .high traffic venue with lots and lots of snotty nosed, puking, and crapping babies. . . unvaccinated babies, toddlers, and teens. . . scads of them. . . and a whole bunch of them used public transportation, ground and air, as well as private transportation to get there. . .

To me, the math says these ass-hat parents that bought into the whole vaccination = autism emotional propaganda are nothing if not complicit in the outbreak and the continuing health threat it represents.

We are a nation of global cultures, beliefs, and origins; and this fact alone all but ensures that visitors from foreign lands will infest our communities on an hourly basis, from coast-to-coast. When we as private citizens make choices that endanger not just the lives of our families, but the lives of every human being we come into contact with, we represent a clear and present danger to the well being of the inhabitants of this nation.

"Anyone who immigrates to the United States has to prove that they've received the full vaccination schedule, including measles," says Rachel Pearson, a researcher at the Institute for the Medical Humanities in Austin, Texas. "If they can't prove that they've received these vaccines before they immigrate, then they get the vaccine again. "

Last year, when thousands of children from Central America attempted to make their way across the southern US border, many Americans complained that the youngsters were harboring vaccine-preventable diseases.

"In El Salvador, 94 percent of people have been vaccinated against measles. In Guatemala, it's 93 percent. The rate in the US is about 91 percent," she says. "So we could be pretty confident that children immigrating from Central America were likely to have already been vaccinated against measles."

Ah! The diversionary random commentary intended to infer scandal or other nefarious intention. . . (Damn. You guys never tire of this tactic do you?)  :roll eyes:

So I'll bite. Tell us oh Savant, just what path would you have this nation take in the situation? What ominous and dark future do you spy in that crystal Mason jar you are hoisting?

Since when is measles such a huge threat anyway? Now left untreated, yes, they can be bad but it was no big deal when I, or even you, were young.

Holy COW! Are you just trying to be obstinate or are you really that F&*^%#$ STUPID?

Measles can be dangerous, especially for babies and young children. From 2001-2013, 28% of children younger than 5 years old who had measles had to be treated in the hospital.

For some children, measles can lead to:
•Pneumonia (a serious lung infection)
•Lifelong brain damage
•Deafness
•Death

No treatment can get rid of an established measles infection.

Hum, seems as though sulfa drug and a cream for the itching did just fine for me and my 3 daughters when they had them.
