Thank you.  I love all dogs and have worked with many mixed breeds in shelters and rescues who were wonderful animals.  Back to my original point...all I said was that my definition of what constitutes a "bad-ass" dog is probably different from the general public's.  People's expectations for their dogs vary widely...nothing wrong with that...in fact, I would go so far as to say that most people do not want the type of dog I like...you have to really enjoy doing what we do because they're a lot of work!

True and I can see a top quality German Shepherd costing that. I just don't want to pay an exorbitant amount for a designer puppy. It is just me bt of course we adopted our 3. Our Australian Shepherd and daschund mix both came from no kill shelters. Our terrier mix we got for free from an animal shelter!

I wish that my dog could live forever. He's a rescue and seems to know that he's rescued because he is the sweetest and most loyal dog ever. Once in a while he'll break a rule and when I look at him, he's already crushed, I barely have the heart to scold him. My next dog will be a pound dog. We volunteer at a local shelter so finding the right one should be easy. I only want a dog that I can be active with. One that likes to run. I don't need an aggressive dog (I'm badass enough for both of us :biggrin:)

I love all 3 of my rescues. My husband says that if I had my way, I would adopt them all. Adoption is such a huge part of our lives- kids, dogs, I will adopt a horse next!!!

Thanks. We love him too. He's 7 years old, going on 8. I was the first human being to touch him, since I was helping his mother give birth. (She was my buddy's dog and was having trouble. He was afraid to try to help her and called me. And she was fine with my help, just not his).

My buddy gave him to me for helping out. He was the only male in a litter of 12. (13 but one was stillborn).

He's a huge part of our family, and VERY protective.  :smitten:

Thanks Ex. Not trained as your animals are, but very protective; and formidable enough to make visitors go to the end of the driveway after they ring the bell. Most of them yell, "Don't let that dog out"! , when I open the door.  :big grin:

He serves his role very well in our family. And if an intruder gets past him, they'll be leaking; and I will put them out of their misery. (Your advice is sound. I have a dog and firearms; and I know how to use both).  :yes:

Your new dog is just awesome. (And I don't think that word comes close to doing him justice). I appreciate you sharing his progress with us, very much man. It is simply perfection to see a dog and owner that have the connection you maintain with your animal. It is a rare thing, but gives me hope that not all owners are irresponsible.  8)

I agree with everything you said to Exterminator. I love to see the K-9 units out and know that those dogs will lay their life down for their handlers. In my hometown in Owensboro, a deputy went one time to serve papers on a guy, routine court papers, the guy shot the deputy and took, his K9 practically tore up the back seat trying to get to his handler. Thank goodness the guy lived! I love pit bulls, most of them get a bad rap but my adage is a dog is only mean as an owner makes it. Same can be said of horses-a bad horse can take away your desire to ride but a good horse will make you want to ride and a good horse will do anything for you! :)
