Again, my granddaughter has lost a friend to in a car crash. Yesterday three young people were killed when their car hit a tree in Bealton, VA. Two others were seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital. That is at least four people she kinows who have been killed this year!

I had a bad experience today on the way home from work. . .

As I made my way to the bypass aboard the steel horse, I saw a HUGE amount of Delaware County emergency personnel / equipment at a particular intersection. This is an industrial park type of area.

As I approached the light show, I saw another steel horse laying mangled at the shoreline of a nearby pond, and a mass of emergency responders frantically working on what I assume was the rider of that steel horse. . .

The car that apparently struck the MC was sitting on the shoulder. . . (It MAY have been a scooter, but it was so mangled I could not tell. . .)

I got a VERY bad feeling that followed me all the way home. . .  :spooked: :spooked: :spooked:

Guys have you ever change the thermocouple on a water with a push button igniter.  Well hang on your butt you'll need a hand full of tools, the ability to lay flat on the floor and capable of uttering foul words under you breath while you are working on the damn thing.   Now I have to go find a thermocouple for the damn thing.

But that's better than calling a plumber to fix it and charge you $55 just to know on your door.  Not counting the time he is here.  And you know what, I don't blame him.  Having to working on one of these damn thing.

I do not envy you in the least.  Start at May Supply they are always well stocked and reasonable.  They also stand behind what they sell since so much is bad right out of the box now that's a plus.

So, a young lady who seems destined to become my daughter-in-law has been looking for a job for a while. She said that she was really upset about not being able to find a job b/c she needs to save money for the plans she and my son have. Soooo, I talked to a friend and found her a temp summer job packing empty bottles into a box. She works three 12 hour days a week and is making 10.50 an hour. Today she tells me that she hates the job b/c it's "manly work". So for everyone that I've fought this battle with, let me tell you, I'm an equal opportunity roarer. I don't think I have to tell you how that comment went right through me. ;D

She may not be talking to me for a while.

She'd better be thankful she has any kind of job at all manly or not IMO.

She better get tough, $10.50 an hour is good wages here in Indiana.  A check out person a Meijers makes $7.10 an hour and they won't let the workers work over 39 hours a week.  I wonder how many pound of groceries they handle a week.  It sounds like in California she lucky to have a job.  I'll bet they could get a Mexican to take the job.

My thoughts exactly. Apparently later she was bi...complaining to my son about my comments/attitude and he said, "Mom doesn't play the woman card and doesn't have any use for people who do" and she pointed out how silly that was because she is a woman and he told her that I'd argue that a real woman is willing to work hard. She is lucky to have a job and asked for my help. I used a friendship to get this opportunity for her. If she loses this job, I'll never help her again. No one said that it had to be a career.

At any rate, at least she knows what she's getting if she marries him. ;D

Troll, minimum wage is higher in California and 10.50 an hour wouldn't even get them a decent apartment, but for someone who lives at home with no real bills, it's a fortune.

Today she tells me that she hates the job...

Tell her that's why they pay people to show up and do it all day.  If it was fun, they'd be selling wristbands as the door.

Nobody living here in Indiana working for minimum wage working 39 hours a week can't afford an apartment either or a car to drive to work.

Troll we can't all make $20 or $30 per hour ya know.  There will always be minimum wage jobs because there will always be jobs where that pay is appropriate because of the nature of them.

You know it seems the minimum jobs are not the easy ones or the cleanest one.  But I think everyone who happens to live in the in the United States of America should be able to have some kind of a roof over their head that is fit for human habitation and all so have enough to eat.

I am talking about the good poor who works for for a living.  Not the free loaders.  You don't seen to not want to even take care of the people who will work.  Is that what you think.  Are they all to starve and live in squalor.  Clean the shitters, the floors, the gutters, sewers also the ones who serve us our food and cook in the restaurants and have no where to hang their hats.  Or like they use to say, so poor that they can't even afford a pot or a window to throw is out.  Just like the old days in England.  They threw their shit and piss out the front window into the street.  Great time to live.  It sound like you want to go back to those days.  Right?
