Ignorance itself is no cause for laughter or embarrassment.

When one has been offered the opportunity to learn and has made a conscious decision to deny the opportunity, that person is to be pitied.

When one takes pride in one's ignorance, that person is to be carefully watched as a fool liable to take any number of actions that will damage others.

When one tries to impress one's ignorance upon others, that person needs to be confronted.
