I liked a sour candy. I think they were called lemon heads.

Dexter Morgan

They still sell Lemon Heads here. That's a candy that's got pucker power.

It always did. My mother always made that face when we kids had them. There is a lot that we don't get here in Fairbanks   and I didn't even think to look when I was in Indiana in October. I need to remember to do that the next trip down.

I went to a local grocery store yesterday that just changed ownership and guess what?  They have a lot of these old candies that they sell in bulk!
$3.79 a pound!
I noticed those caramel rounds with the creamy inside circle that I used to love when I was a kid.
Yup--I'm $4.00 broker now  LOL

Was it BRACH's bulk candies?

Really hard to find stores that still sells BRACH bulk candy.

As a kid, I always picked out the the white nougats with little orange & yellow jellies inside of it.

But also fought my mother for the Goetze's caramel creams, too! *slurp*

Also belonged more to the "sour & tangy" group rather than the "chocolate & gooey" group.

LOVED Fun Dip...but the chalky stick used to dip in the sugar was SOOOO GROSS!!!

Sunny

Oh oh oh!!!! How about "Bazooka" gum?

I think there's a new rendition of it out on the market...but, remember when you could save points & redeem for cheezy prizes?

(did anyone ever mail them in? if so, what'd ya get???)

Ignorance and fanaticism are ravenous. They require constant feeding.

kimmi

yuck!  I saw Necco waffers used as the shingles to a gingerbread house and that was probably the best use of them I could think of!
Take time to smell the roses.

My Mom loves those nougats. We have several store here that sell Brach candies in bulk. I was always partial to the cinnamon gummie bears, and the blue ice mints.

We still have the original Bazooka gum. I never did collect the wrappers. I loved Fun Dip too. I never did eat the dipping sticks, but some of my friends did.*yuk*

I always loved Pop Rocks. The punch and grape flavored ones were the best. They sell strawberry and watermelons one now. *yuk* They quit selling them for a long time, and that's when the urban legend about Mikey from the Life cereal commercials, took on a life of it's own.

Not only did we enjoy the candy ciggarettes, the bubblegum cigars were good too.

FWIW, Dolly Madison is still in business, the local Kroger store carries their products.  I've always been a Hostess fan myself, the DM stuff always seemd like a poor copy.

How about Fizzies?  Goofy Grape, Loud Mouth Lime, etc.  They were a tablet you dropped into a glass of water and it would start fizzing like an Alka Seltzer, and produce a marginaly better tasting drink.

In the late 60's, one of the big companies came out with Space Food Sticks, just like the astronauts ate.  These tasted more like thy had already been eaten and passed through the astronaut's system.  Not good and did not last long.

Problem is they no longer make that particular cake I mentioned.   :-[
