I don't remember those but I used to love Sour Patch Kids!  There was a place near the Jr. High where you could go in the mornings and hand the guy $.50 and he would count out 100 and put them in the smallest paper sacks you have ever seen.  Kids would keep them in their pocket and eat them all day!

It's always darkest before the dawn.  So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.

Does anyone remember when one of the bubble gum companies (Bubble yum maybe) put bubble gum in a squeezable tube?  I remember my sister and I only getting it once.  We were starting to be savy consumers at that point!  You couldn't get all the gum out of the tube!  Thank goodness for mom's everlasting supply of chopsticks to try and scrape out as much as we could!

Gum by the inch?  Do they still make that?
I remember it, but I don't know, if they make it any more or not? It wasn't called Big Squeeze, or something like that was it? I can picture it in my mind.

Its not a candy but when I was a kid I used to buy these things like Push Ups called Cho cho's....Closest thing I can find to what they tasted like is Wendy's Frosty.  Ya know, come to think of it I don't remember seeing Push Ups anywhere lately either.
I've never heard of Cho chos but, Schwans sells push ups still.

Man they can not get rid of push ups!  I used to like the rocketship popsicles too.  They were red, white and blue and the white part was lemon ice.  I loved them!
They still make both of those.  I'm not sure if they sell them in your region though.

Licorice jump ropes - they were about three feet long and a tube of licorice.  Not really the same consistency of a Twizzler but a little softer.  I don't know anyone that jumped rope with them.
Hell, I'd get tangled up in that, and kill myself, or the people holding the licorish rope LOL!!!

The convenience store near my house used to have Charleston Chews in the refridgerator.  They were chocolate covered taffy.  When in the fridge they could break teeth!

They have the gum that looks like a tape measure....is that what you mean?

Yes.  It came in a circular plastic case.
I think that is called Bubble Tape?

They still have it. My daughter is a bubblegum enthusiast.  She loves that, because I think she thinks she's getting more.

Did anyone every by candy cigarettes as a kid?
I ate a lot of those, because they were environmentally friendly.

I'm most a chocolate candy kinda person. I rarely eat "fruity" candy, but I love Sour Patch kids! It has to be the Sour Patch kids brand too. I don't like the knockoffs.

Okay, so I'm busted. That's the closest to smoking I ever came. There were two kinds of candy cigarettes. There was one kind that was a stick of gum wrapped in paper and if you blew on it, the "smoke" would come out the end. It was really powered sugar (I think). The other was this minty kinda stick shaped like a cigarette, those I wasn't fond of because they tasted like dried up toothpaste to me. ;D

I wasn't much of a candy eater as a kid -- Halloween was really the only time I ate it in mass quantities.

I did love gum, though and we used to buy the Big Buddy gum that was shaped like a ruler and about as long.

Not candy but does anyone remember cheese kisses?  I loved those!
If you don't have anything nice to say then come over here and sit by me!

The minty sticks seemed to taste like chalk, but damn didn't we look cool, with them hanging out of our mouths?  One time, when I was 8 or 9, my best friend, and I got caught smoking one of my Mom's cigs, and I got grounded for the entire Summer. Mom, took my stereo away, and my best friend (who practically lived with us) didn't get to come out the entire Summer. I spent a lot of time at my Grandparents house, and my Mom told my Grandma, that when I was staying there, I couldn't listen to any music. Music was a tremendous thing in my life, it was a coping mechanism so to speak. Luckily, my Maama let me listen to it, the entire time I was there.
