From the movie "The Island":

Lincoln Echo-Six:  What's "God"?

McCord:  Well, you know, when you want something really bad and you close your eyes and wish for it?  God's the guy that ignores you.
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on. Robert Frost

Problem is, the people who believe that shiz don't realize they're being ignored.

The Troll

What a great god!  He says that if your child talks back to you, stone her or him to death.  If you see a person working on Sunday, stone them to death.  If there is a guy who isn't circisized God would kill him and if your wife is not a virgin on your wedding night stone her to death and dump her on her father's door step.  If you see a tribe you don't like, kill all the men, women, old people, children.  The sheep, cattle, donkeys and burn everything down.  But bring back all of the gold, silver, bronze and iron back to god's temple.     What a wonderful, kind, loving and forgiving Lord.  :haha:  :haha:  Give all of us a break.  :preach: :pope:

Oh yes, the holy ghost :ghost:  :bs:

I remember being told that god would answer prayer in three ways:  yes, no, wait.  Problem is, that's not in the bible!  Still haven't figured out where they came up with that one.

That's the only one that covers all the bases and still allows them to believe they're not being ignored.

One day on television there was a preacher :preach:  who said that if you prayed  to god he could give you anything.     And if you prayed  and you didn't get it, means that god didn't think you needed it or deserved it.  :haha:  :haha:   :nowink: :jc:

Just for the record, where do I talk about Christian values on here?  Care to share?  You guys like to act like I think I am Billy Graham on here....I think I display more non-Christian values than Christian values on here....and I am good with that.

I moved this over from the Republican topic since I didn't want us going off topic on that one.

I don't really know how many Christian values you have displayed here since I'm relatively new, but doesn't your religion desire you to display Christian values no matter where you are?  Aren't you supposed to be showing god's love to the world?  Despising people isn't a Christian value and definitely doesn't show god's supposed love.

This is why I don't understand Christians.  They act one way with one group and another way with a different group.  They tend to pick and choose out of the Bible what they want to believe and follow.  All of this yelling about gay marriage being a sin, yet they divorce and remarry when the Bible clearly says that is a sin (unless it was caused by adultery).  Why aren't any of them yelling about that?  Sex before marriage is considered a sin, yet I know many Christians who have had sex before marriage.

One more thing, what makes a value "Christian"?  Because an ancient book said so?

Great statement. I guess that is why I don't like having religion shoved down my throat and why I don't shove my religious beliefs down anyone's throat.

Also did you know that Atheist have a lower rate of divorce than Christians.     Also that Atheist know more about what is said in the Bible than Christians.

It goes to show you that Christians are not too intelligent or smart.  :haha:  Somebody say Amen!

Locutus

Won't give you an "Amen!" but I'll give you a holy ghosty!   :ghost:

Henry?  Are you out there?  :)  I was hoping for a response to this.  Shouldn't you display the same  Christian values no matter where you are?  And what about the other questions?

Abby, the Bird (brain)Boy is only a Christian when he can pick and chose what he wants out of the bible.  :trustme:

Locutus

Most Christians are the same way Troll.

I don't mean to besmirch HH with that comment BTW.  It would be interesting to see his answer to Abby's question though.
