I think it sucks they have the nerve to ask for an additional tip after they MANDATORY took out 18%.  I thought the whole point of a tip was to show your gratitude on the service your waiter/waitress gave you.
I also read where the waitress was fired for posting it publicly.  As well she should have been.

I'm not discussing tithing, I'm talking about a company that TAKES 18% tip, without my consent, then asks if I want to leave more.  The waitress should NOT have posted it on the web.  Also, the pastor said he left $6 on the table.

You don't have to discuss tithing because its BS where people feel obligated to pay a certain percentage to god. If the pastor didn't believe the service deserved 18% he could have spoken to the manager and had it reduced or removed. Its the company policy, not the server's, but yet she suffered because that pastor has the emotional maturity of a 10 year old. On-the-other-hand tithing is non-negotiable. That said, how exactly does this money get to god? Who suffers if those aren't paid?

I think, the waitress had NO business posting it on the web.  I think that was wrong, even if the customer WAS an asshole.  Not a professional thing to do.  She represents Applebee's .  Now, I don't know if the Pastor was lying or not, but he said he left a $6 tip at the table.  He just didn't like the fact Applebees insists on an 18% tip.  He made a smart ass remark about God and 10%.  Right or wrong, he IS the customer.

Tithing IS negotiatable.  That is ALWAYS something that is from the heart NOT from a calculator.  The Bible makes suggestions as to how much, and the rewards by doing so....but it doesn't state anybody going to Hell if they don't pay 10%.

With all of that said, I'm no preacher and I'm not preachin...

I have no clue to what you are getting at.  It seems to me, that the waitress got miffed because of the smartass remark that the Pastor left, and did not leave an "extra" tip, so she posted it on the internet to be funny.  Well, it is against Applebees policy to do such a thing.  It deals with customer privacy.  She got fired.  I think it sucks that she did, because she probably needs the job.

Had this waitress NOT plastered it on the internet, I would have been on her side 100%.

How often do people leave 28% tips? We usually leave 20%, unless we just get coffee or a soft drink, then we leave about $2 each.

What I'm getting at (in that particular remark) is that she was fired for doing something that others (most likely managers) have done on the Facebook page of that very store from which she was fired.  It's hypocrisy on the part of the franchisee who fired this girl for doing what she did, while allowing others to violate that policy (if it is indeed one) most likely because what was posted was positive.  The picture below is proof that it was there, even though it was yanked shorty after this whole imbroglio started.

This really wasn't started about the waitress, although that's what Applebee's current PR nightmare is about, but rather about the 'pastor' and the very non-Christian manner in which she was behaving.  One, by by being a tightwad and asking for separate checks to skirt the automatic gratuity, and two, for leaving a nasty note to the server that her authority as a 'pastor' somehow entitles her to set whatever amount she chooses to tip, and that her authority as a 'pastor' somehow entitles her to act like an absolute jackass to people who are serving her.

In addition, once she found out her nasty ass behavior had been posted on the Internet, instead of expressing contrition for her behavior, she calls up the restaurant and demands that everyone on that shift, manager included, be fired.  In following up with an interview, after she saw her reputation collapsing in shambles, she said that "her momentary lapse in judgement" had brought shame and embarrassment to her ministry. 

I say that's complete and total bullshit.  She wasn't sorry when she tried to skirt the automatic gratuity; she wasn't sorry when she left the nasty note; she wasn't sorry when she called up and demanded everyone's head on a platter.  About the only thing she's sorry about is that she's now been exposed on the Internet for being the absolute bitch that she is, and the pastor and Christian that she clearly is not.
