  Just how much does he make and how much charity does the family get.  Taking care of 21 people isn't cheap.  And the kids, why put the load on them to take care of their siblings.  I think you ask to much of them.  But, I suppose you did it and made your kids do it.  I suppose they have the right to have as many children as they want.

Just like Octuplet Mom who had 8 babies at one time on top of 6 other of her kids and she is a single mother. 

  Some where there is a time to use common sense.  Common sense you don't seem to have. 

Now that is a classic example of someone who is using the system and is single.  Apples to oranges. 

You're all about a woman doing as she pleases with her body until it goes against your beliefs then you think you have a right to dictate.  If she had chosen to abort that many pregnancies you would be just fine with it.  Go figure....

I read an article about them several years ago and in it they said they were married several years (5 I think) before they had children and were debt free at the time and remain that way. That would have been 15 or more years before the tv show.

Given the current state of the economy and business environment in this country, I can't imagine that their business is doing very well at all. Property values are tanking nationwide, and all one really has to do is drive through the business district of whatever city you live in, and see the high number of commercial properties standing vacant, to understand that anyone in the commercial end of real estate, or real estate in general, is facing or enduring some pretty hard times right now.

And depending upon what state they live in, even if they own the property they occupy outright, unless their income stream can support the high property tax rates they risk being thrown out of their own homes over past due taxes. (Hence, we never really "own" the property / homes we possess.)

Now granted, with 19 tax deductions whatever their income stream is they likely pay little to no taxes on that income. . .

I personally know some real estate brokers who are working at Walmart because they cannot make it. They've had to let the majority of their staff go because business is so bad. . .

Mr. and Mrs. Dugger are the only ones who truly know their financial situation. I would guess that they have made a fair amount of money from the tv show in addition to their business. They seem to be conservative in their spending so they may be much better off than you think. The oldest son is married and lives with his wife and children, he manages or owns a used car lot. At any rate, I doubt if any of them will become dependent on welfare anytime soon.

Was anyone prepared for things to be like they are now?  The point is they had enough forethought to be debt free when things turned bad so aren't as likely to go under as someone who has a huge mortgage, credit card debt out the a$$, and was living beyond their means.
