So he's basically a dick.

to a non-believer.....yeah, I can see why you would think that....

Well if he does exist, he did burn these people's house down and cause an earthquake a couple of weeks ago.  How is that not dick-like?

Especially if he is, as they believe, both omnipotent and omnipresent.

Well, again, it is 'My' take, that God created a world of 'cause and effect'... or that every effect has a cause....and we have consequences to our actions....starting back to when we first sinned with His first creation of man... that allowed suffering for following generations...but, God IS a God of wisdom and love who does give us a control of our suffering for those who seek Him in order to bring them to a deeper knowledge of Him...and only through this process that allows us to even begin to accept or trust that He has bigger and better plans for ALL of us who simply agree to HIS terms..to me, He is NOT a dick....WE are the dicks....
I'm not sure if this makes a lick of sense, but it is my best shot at putting this to my words and thoughts....

So it isn't your god's earth that is flawed and prone to tectonic plate shifts but earthquakes are something caused by the people that 'free will' could have prevented?  Really?

No, that is not what I meant anyway.....I see it, as God, at one time created a "perfect" earth, that was free from flaws and prone to plate shifts....just as man, himself had "perfect" bodies...and because of "sin"...(the absence of God)...natural laws and physics NOW controls the creations....

so, maybe it is a YES then....I suppose, IF, Man had not disobeyed God's "Original" laws...none of this would have happened, but, I think this ALL HAD to happen, for MAN to realize what life is like without GOD...

I think that sums up my "beliefs" on this quite well... :spooked:

So the earth sinned and became imperfect or people sinned which made the earth imperfect?  WTF?

okay, you are making me work for this one aren't you?

I think, Gods took his hands, (for the most part) off...of what would/could have been for man in "paradise"....but, because of man's decision.....all of God's perfection was at the mercy of man, and the natural course of the universe set forth.....

I'm getting a headache...

Screw the dinosaurs.  I'd just like an explanation of how "God is good" in light of the house fire.

God IS good.....to those who have faith in Him...that is as about as far as I can explain it.......I don't have a link or a mathematical formula to support it....it is just MY answer.

It just seems to me, if your god wants praise and adoration for the good stuff, she would be well advised to provide it a bit more often. And any god who claims omnipotence and expects "Hallelujah!" for the good stuff had better be prepared to take "You prick!" for the bad stuff.

Created a perfect world?  When?  Satan, disobedient robots (adam and eve), angels that cavorted with earth women, and those all too imperfect humans that came along.  It wasn't perfect and he destroyed it, knowing he had "failed" and made a mistake (oops, not infallible).

Of course, none of it is real, none of it ever happened and we can thank black holes and super novae for our imperfect existence and not some "creator", perfect or otherwise.   Now, what perfect creator would destroy his own creation for "his" mistakes, not theirs?  Goofy.

Genesis 6
4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

5And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

A Wake County middle school teacher has been suspended following complaints about disparaging comments she made about her class, Christianity and Southern culture on her Facebook page.

Melissa Hussain, an eighth-grade teacher at West Lake Middle School in Apex, wrote on her Facebook page that it was a "hate crime" that students left a Bible on her desk and how she "was able to shame her kids" over the incident. Her Facebook page included comments from friends saying that the parents of Hussain's students were "bigoted, stupid and uncaring."

Some parents were angry that she was allowed to stay in the classroom, leading them to complain to school board members on Friday. Hussain was later told to leave her classroom on Friday and is not back at the school.

Greg Thomas, a Wake schools' spokesman, said Hussain has been suspended with pay. But he said he couldn't discuss the reason for the suspension because of employee confidentiality rules. School administrators say they are still investigating the situation.

Hussain could not be immediately reached for comment today.
