If, as you say, you were a Christian, do you reject all Christian principles, or do you pick and choose?

What about you? Are you a xtian or are you something else?

I consider myself a Christian and try to practice my beliefs, be kind, try to help other people, etc. I asked Dan that because he said he "used" to be a Christian and turned away from it. I wondered if he kept any of the tenets of the Christian or he turned away from all christian teachings. What about you Pale? Do you have any of the same beliefs as christians?

I have no use for any organized religion. They all are corrupt.

Yes.

You do dirt, you get multiples of that same dirt dumped right back on you.

So, you don't believe in helping others, it is wrong to murder, cheat, lie, that sort of thing?

Then what did you mean. I asked if you rejected all christian tenets and beliefs and you said yes. You can reject the organization of religion but still beieve in some of it's tenets, such as helping those in need, etc. Is that what you mean?

I would never seethe a kid in it's mother's milk.  Does that really imply that I believe in some of the tenets of christianity?  Just because common human decency is incorporated into the mythology, and I accept the same, doesn't make me a believer in any of the tenets of christianity.  Christianity hasn't cornered the market on the no-brainers, so you can't give it credibility by asking such a goofy question.  Being a christian isn't that you just agree that you won't murder someone; its that you are saved by believing in jesus, and nothing more.

Simple answer, yes. Being Christian is a lot more than just believeing in Jesus.

Subject: MISTAKEN IDENTITY

A man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard.
Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right
thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red
light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in
frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection,
dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up
into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to
exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she
was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the
door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer
was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, ''I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind
your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of
you, and cussing a blue streak at him..... I noticed the
'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate
holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the
chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk; naturally...I assumed you
had stolen the car ..''
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

Those principles are not unique to Christianity.

Dan, being a Christian is MUCH more than being "saved" by believing Jesus....and IF you don't know this, then I have my doubts that you was ever, REALLY a Christian...other than just going to Church.

Being a Christian requires one to strive for obtaining the fruit of the Spirit...love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control....nobody is saying that "Christians" have cornered any market on these traits, but this is, or should be the goal of ALL Christians....

It has NOTHING to do with belonging to ANY "corrupt organization" .... you do not HAVE to answer to any authority..(other than God, and that is between you and God)...you do NOT HAVE to give YOUR money to ANY "organized" group....there are NO secret handshakes....

and the ALL this BS about Christians HATE Gays or HATE anyone...is coming from people like Dan, who has NO idea what being a Christian REALLY is....but it is this garbage and talking points that are being "spewed" by atheists, trying to bring and end to a system, that is set up to do nothing but good for EVERYONE...

it is Christians that spend MILLIONS of $$$$ every years....feeding the poor and homeless ALL over the world...they give their own time, working for these causes....it is WAY more than "just believing in Jesus"

just because of a few "TV" evangelist who "claimed" they were Christians, does NOT represent the millions and millions of Christians ALL over this world....who live their lives humbly and thriving for the "fruits of the Spirit"....and it is based upon the Word of God, via the Holy Bible and accepting it AS the inspired writings of regularly men, who had Divine intervention, and compiled for ALL human beings as a way to live our lives that would please the Creator of all things....

Okay, maybe I should move this to the The Unknown Zone Church thread.....
