What makes you seem angry is that you call everyone names that do not agree with you, or maybe it just makes you seem arrogant. You paint all religion with a brush of intolerence, aggression, and against education, I think you would be surprised at how much good organized religions accomplish.

I'm new, and maybe I'm missing some subtle insult, but I can't find a post where Dan Foster called anyone here a name.

I don't think he's overtly tried to insult anyone. What I think we're seeing here is an all too common reaction from believers when they find they can't logically back up their beliefs.  That being, they take it as a personal affront, and become miffed, rather than taking a deep look at exactly what it is that they believe, and examining it under the full hammer of logic.

Let me see if I have this right. All us "christians" have done is defend our beliefs. The other side say we are ignorant, misinformed, and taking the wrong path. hmmmmmmmm. Yet you can't prove your beliefs that there is no God or he sucks. You make the accusations but have no actual proof. When we post info on our side you put it and us down for thinking such a thing. As to calling names, when someone calls you ignorant, misinformed, wrong for believing(stupid) etc, they are calling you names. I just can't help but wonder why the so called non believers are so adamant about there being no God and won't even consider the other side, yet they take it upon themselves to say the the believers are guilty of this. They have no idea and are definitely misinformed themselves. It is the height of arrogance to assume you know what others are thinking or doing about their lives. But I do consider the source. I myself personally have spent over 30 years examining my beliefs. How long have you studied to be an atheist??? JMO
Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

OK, Einstein didn't even believe in YOUR god, and he certainly wasn't a christian.  So, your insinuation, even if it is about a god vice christian, is still a lie.  Why would you perpetuate a lie?

You are the one perpetuating a lie Dan. Jews and Christians do believe in the same God. Of course you can't know this since you don't worship God. So why are you trying to tell those who do believe in God how or why they do. Who is ignorant now of their subject??????????????

I don't see where he called you ignorant, misinformed, wrong for believing (stupid) either. In fact, all the emotional responses seem to be in answer to DF's posts. Hmmmm.....

Thank you for the welcome, Locutus. But it's only fair to tell you, I don't think resistance is necessarily futile.

Funny, I know it all too well; jews, christians and muslims all worship the god of abraham.  Now, Einstein wasn't jewish or christian, AND didn't believe in the god of abraham.  So, now where do you stand with the lie?  I haven't said a single thing that isn't true, yet you insist on painting Einstein, now, as a worshiping jew; another lie.  He was an atheist and nothing more.  I don't know why you stay on the Einstein track.  Even if he was a falling down holy roller, what would that prove?  If everyone of the so called "greats" in your list was a practicing christian zealot, I still don't understand how that would prove anything, let alone be the "data" you think supports "your side".

I only call it the way I see it; misinformed, ignorance, or outright liars.  Please tell me where I misused a single one of these terms.  Although, I may have mixed them up a bit; mcnoser may not know he was perpetuating a lie about Einstein.  Therefore, the term ignorance would apply.

This one is worth going over, again; You say I am perpetuating a lie, but you were the one doing that.  You say I "can't know" since I don't worship, but I know more about the subject than you do.  I don't know where I tried to tell those who do believe why they do; I am trying to sort that out and I do have a fair amount of data to work from now, like humans being predisposed to belief from authors like Guthrie and Diamond.  And, finally, your ignorance of Einstein is what I called you on, or do you know you are lying, on purpose?  What lie am I perpetuating again?  Please try to explain that.

I have to admit, I think I can be insulting without trying.  Or, sometimes I do try.  However, as Locutus put it, most of the time, it is just having a firm basis in non-belief that irks 'em.  I add my welcome to the forums to Locutus'.  And, to that, I welcome any and all debate.  If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I am very rarely drawn to anger, as some have suggested.  It IS hard to read tone in text, but if I am mad, there will be no doubt ;>)

I'd like to add to the discussion the question of how belief in God infers "god fearing"?  Deists believe in God but don't think he cares or involves himself in the affairs of this world; they certainly do not fear him.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

I believe, that MOST of the references of "fearing" the Lord is meant more of "praise, honor, revere"....I DO believe that there could be fear in the Wrath of God....

I think MOST of the diests DID revere the Lord.

Then it's time for you to go learn more about deism.
