the bottom line is...................it seems to me that there is some mercy upon the poor, single mother, who screws several partners and has several kids...........but, a married couple, who are Christians, decides to have a large family.....home-school them, raise them in a loving enviorment, clothes them, and teaches them to be responsible human-beings....are being trashed as scum, because they are over-populating the earth.....and not adopting other peoples kids.....

The reality is that most of the people like this who have litters of children can't afford to do so and do depend on public assistance to house, feed and clothe them.
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

...my religion is mocked and made fun of...

So is mine but his noodly goodness is far too busy with important matters to be offended by it.

I read it Henry (thank you) and I'm still left w/questions.

Why would God allow the Devil to mess w/a someone so devoted? What did that prove exactly and to whom?

If God is stronger than Satan then he/she has nothing to prove. If God is secure that he/she is the supreme being then certainly he/she didn't need anything proved to him/herself. Besides, didn't he/she already know the outcome?

I don't understand the purpose of the "test" and the only person that suffered was the faithful devotee.

I know that my answer is only going to be replied as a 'cop' out..but, God tells us NOT to lean on our own understandings....but to TRUST in Him....

I think, people WANT answers to everything...it is our nature...........but, God has his reasos..........

I know for me, there are times I tell my kids to do something and they ask...WHY?...and sometimes, they don't need to know anything more, than just because I told you so.......they simply don't need to know EVERYTHING, rather just trust me and do it.....

maybe that is the logic I use, .... and I know, it does not settle well for those who don't believe...but, that is where the faith comes in for me...

Just a couple of notes:

- The church where the shooting was going on was a Univeralist church, which from my understanding, is a social club and not a religious institution, at all.  Point is: people kill others for their own reasons all the time and no god, devil, demon, or angel had anything to do with it.  The ignorance of religion is usually just a symptom of the problem, but far too often, it is the cause, but again, not by the hand of some invisible, imaginary creature.

- One can't be a racist (proper spelling) against a religion.  One can be a snob about ignorant people, including most religious types, but having a strong opinion about ignorant religious people doesn't make one a racist.  And, if one is a bigot about a religion (say, christianity), by definition; if you know the subject and understand it, your opposition to it doesn't make you a bigot.  Bigotry, by definition, is an uninformed opinion or hatred based in ignorance (the very problem with MOST religions).

- People are naturally curious and ask probing questions for which religions can't cope with.  So, the ultimate cop out for MOST religions is to discourage such questioning by saying; "god has his reasons", "it's god's will", "we aren't supposed to know everything", etc.  Again, statements that are only based in absolute ignorance.  Anyone that claims the bible has a 100% reliability rating, without caveatting the mindless killing, rape and pillage, sexual misconduct, etc, as disgusting, is absolutely ignorant about the writings in the book; also, the very problem with MOST religions and especially the modern result of the bible, christianity).

Seems to me, the couple just like sex, a lot, and have found a divine justification for the "parting of the legs" on a routine basis.  They are obviously retarded with no "human" reasoning left in their heads (or just lost the ability to think on all the energy of being so irresponsible).  So, you can "praise god all day long", but they are just a puppy mill spitting out an obviously large group of future robots.

Like the catholic justification for large families (pope says we can't use birth control), the term "the wrong folks are having the most kids" certainly seems apropos.
