You toss around words apparently w/out knowing their meaning. I'm not a bigot and I'm not a hypocrite. Where have you ever seen me say that people who can't afford to or don't have the fortitutde to take care of their offspring should have children. Where, Henry?

I'm pro sex education/birth control/choice, remember? I think that the number of unwanted pregnancies should be minimized prior to conception.

What does that have anything to do with the fact that there's already thousands of unwanted children..who have been born? Who's taking care of them?

Not the people who'd rather add to the population instead of doing the responsible thing and taking care of the present need.

Where have you been, Henry. The Earth is overpopulated and getting more so every day. That's a fact. While this family didn't do it singlehandedly, they didn't help the problem either, did they?

It's all about ego and nothing to do with god or god's work. Actions, Henry, actions.

so, tell me how many kids is acceptable in your book?...it seems like you feel it is up to others to decide how many kids humans should have?

are you in favor of "laws" being put into place to correct this horrible problem?.....

Ya, know, this really get my ass...........EGO??  simply because a family wants to have several kids.........they have an ego, because they didnt run out and adopt a few kids?............

Sandy....I lump you into the group of bigots because....you don't like some people because they believ in God...

you just said so...these people put their faith that God will provide for their kids.........and because you think that is stupid..........you chastise them....

it is a form of bigotry .... 100%...

.....are they costing you any more tax dollars?............

Yes. They are. At the risk of ignoring the religious and moral aspects of the conversation, may I point out the Tax deduction that a family gets for each child?

I work with a guy (yeah, I know - heresay and all that rot but it's true) that brags about having 12 children just to get the tax deduction.

Meanwhile, I pay through the nose.

Where have I ever said that I don't like people who believe in God? You say that as if that would be my sole reason for not liking someone. You have an example to cite?

If you'll go back and read, I said that I think that anyone that has that many children is irresponsible, regardless of what they claim the reason is...didn't I? So, I guess that I'd chastise anyone w/so much of an ego that they'd rather bring 18 new lives into an overpopulated world, than take care of present need. If someone truly felt the need to have that many children, then what would be wrong w/adopting some children? They'd still be their children. Ahhhh, but the DNA would be different . That's why I say it's all about ego.

In this case, they claim it's religion that inspired this irresponsible breeding. They said that, not me. I guess they leave their concern for humanity on the nightstand w/their birthcontrol and bible, huh?

the bottom line is...................it seems to me that there is some mercy upon the poor, single mother, who screws several partners and has several kids...........but, a married couple, who are Christians, decides to have a large family.....home-school them, raise them in a loving enviorment, clothes them, and teaches them to be responsible human-beings....are being trashed as scum, because they are over-populating the earth.....and not adopting other peoples kids.....

that is it in a nutshell.

piya, you still never answered me....how many kids should a family be allowed to have before they are being poor stewards of this earth?

So, if I toss out a number for you then you think you can twist this to justify having 18 children as not being irresponsible. It doesn't work like that. If I had to be honest, then I think bringing one child into this over populated and uncompassionate world is probably irresponsible.

I wouldn't change one thing about my decision to have my daughter. Am I irresponsible? Probably, because my desire to have a child was greater than any concern for the planet or even what her life on the planet will be 30 years down the line. I teach her to be a good steward and I believe that she do great things in her life, however, I wasn't thinking about that then. All I thought about was how much I wanted her. Would I like to have more children, sure. I'd love to fill my house w/children, but if I do, it more than likely won't be because I physically conceived them.

now, wait just a minute......look at it this way.....just think of the taxes that these 18 kids will generate over the coarse of thier lives.....they are being responsibly raised and educated........heck, there might be a few doctors that come from them......and WOW, the taxes they will contribute to this country..........ALL because of the loving, responsible Christian couple who decided to trust God and have a large family.... ;)

can I interrupt the regularly scheduled program...

have you guys stopped and read some of the things you are saying?.... ;D

all, i can say, and I'm sure you won't give a rats ass...but, it is clear and simple, you have NO CLUE to what it is, to be a Christian, NOR, do you remotely understand the BIBLE the way it is 100%, with-out-a-doubt INTENDED....you have completely closed your minds...

and, now, this is just my opinion....but it seems to me like this whole thread is nothing but you guys trying to convince each other that you are right...it is an atheist smorgasbord....like AA, Atheist Anonymous......you do nothing but BASH Christians on here........it is just an observation....maybe, I just don't see it YOUR way...but...just my two cents..........

back to your regularly scheduled God bashing...

I think what it actually boils down to is no one knows for sure.  Sometimes I think the theory I heard one time about us being evolved from alien droppings makes more sense than anything.  That, to me explains angels from heaven and the whole nine yards.  And now that I have given everyone their laugh for the evening on with the conversation.

You and Henry are both wrong.

Why is it when someone poses a questions to a Christian (maybe other faiths too, but they're under represented here ) that they can't answer, they consider it bashing. That's aside from missing the originial point of the thread. Or may that's why you're missing it..

At any rate here it is:

Quote from: konquererz on July 28, 2008, 03:44:47 PM
People continually thank god for the good.  If god is positively impacting the world, and he is in control of everything, then don't try and short god for credit for everything.  God obviously had to ALLOW it to happen, (I wouldn't but hey, whats a few measly humans if you're god?) so this is inherently gods fault, for allowing it to happen.

Which brings us to the topic.  That is why god sucks.

So, why is it then you're more than willing to give credit to God for the "good", but not the "bad"?

Do you REALLY want an answer?.....

Because, I'm sure it won't mean diddly squat to the fans of this thread...

I'll patronize you and give you MY answer.... ;)

After the fall of man in the garden of eden....Sin ruled/ruels the earth....evil does and will take place.........Satan's job is to distract man and keep them from focusing on God.........i.e  Job, was a good example from the Bible............Satan told God, that Job is only faithful becasue he was blessed....he was the richest man in all the land....he had everything going for him......Satan told God, that if bad things was to happen to job, that he would NOT be nearly as faithfu.....God allowed satan to do what he wanted to job, except kill him............not sure if you ever read it, but, BAD things happened to Job......Job stayed faithful........he always praised him during the good times.............and when the bad times hit........and they were bad..........he STILL praised God............

for me, it is very easy to praise God when good things happen............not so easy when bad things happen.........but it is during those bad times.....THAT is when I need God the most.......He, manages to allow me to have faith and hope, and gets me through those bad times........I find the more I try to praise Him during those times....the easier it is to get throught them....

God NEVER, EVER, anyplace in the Bible, promised us good times.........sin, rules this earth......we ALL make our choices.........it is up to us to choose God to help us through those times or reject Him....God did tell us to Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on our own understandings. In all our ways acknowledge Him...and He will make our paths straight.......

Yes, some very bad things happen to very good people...and it would have been very possible for God to simply NOT allow it to happen........but, it is His rules...and He tells us not to lean on our own understanding, but to trust in Him......He sets the rules, not man...He created EVERYTHING.....to THOSE of us, who has made the decision to TRUST in Him..........are able to find some comfort and peace during bad times........I struggle sometimes, but, when I put my focus on God....I find that I somehow, manage to muster through those bad times....and it is during those BAD times, it seems most people turn to God.....even those who are not sure if He exists or not...........

the bible also tells me, that .....God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.....

Those are promises from God..........and this is my answer...........Now, watch the bashing....  Sandy, I hope you read this, and took time to read it....you asked me and I gave you an answer.........I have be referred to as a moron and an idiot on this thread.....questions have been posed to me and I HAVE answered them and the folks on here claim it's not the answer they wanted or it does not make sense and then they "BASH" for a lack of a better word.......

to add insult to injury....Jesus is called Gezbuss or whatever........my religion is mocked and made fun of..........and, the bottom line is.....I don't have to come here and read it.......but, I do........i still don't have to like it.....but, that's the way it is ....everywhere anymore....

at any rate, that's my answer and I'm pleased with it....

and one last thing....God does NOT suck... ;) :)
