High school basketball. . .

This state is as ate up over HS basketball as Texas is over HS football. . .  :roll eyes:

The local weather skank and her cohorts are indeed predicting a nasty storm system for Friday, with wind gusts in excess of 50mph, hail, and heavy rain. Then the bottom drops out of the thermometer and it gets cold, followed by back into the 60's-70's. . . IF they are right, and there is only a 50/50 chance of it. . .

Hopefully the weather skank is using more concrete evidence than sectionals.  ;D

 Most of the male viewers out here probably do not hear a single word she says surrounding said evidence. They're too busy ogling the local NBC affiliates contribution to the T & A crowd. Half those kooks wouldn't care if she said a tornado was bearing down on their exact position. They're thinking with the wrong head!  :rotfl:

Sectional time?

High school basketball is not as big now as it was 20 years ago but Saturday night (March 4) over 9000 people filled the high school gym in New Castle for a sectional final game. If you ever get a chance to see Hoosiers with Gene Hackman it gives a pretty good view of basketball fever in Indiana.

Ah!  Thanks for the explanation.  I thought it must have been some sort of sporting related comment when you first made it.  Interesting that it always seemed to be tied to weather events.  ;D

I agree, back in the late 70's and early 80's, the Anderson WigWam would pack in 9,000 plus (standing room only) nearly every Friday Night and especially during Sectional time....it was the 2nd largest gymnasium in the world, behind New Castles...as a mater of fact, at one time, Indiana had 18 out the top 20 largest gyms in the world.......that seated a minimum of 7,000 plus!

Usually, the Anderson Indians, the Highland Scots and the Madison Heights Pirates (all located in the Anderson city limits) would almost ALWAYS be ranked in the top 10 in the state...Some fantastic basketball was guaranteed! That area produce 4 Mr. Basketballs, several that went to have outstanding NCAA careers and a couple managed to make it to the NBA.

I have great memories watching basketball and being part of "Hoosier Hysteria"..........it was basketball at its finest!!

When I was in grade school and Jr high, I would go to the Middletown basketball games with my aunt and uncle. It was so much like the movie it was like watching a home movie. 😊

Splitting the tourneys into classes was the dumbest thing they could have done. I understand in a way why they did it but tourney time hasn't been the same since.
