6 years ago I entered all of my telephone numbers into the Indiana Attorney Generals Do Not Call List. My numbers have not changed in that time,  nor has my address.

The last two months I have been receiving an endless stream of calls from various locations and numbers across this nation, all of them containing a message that starts, "This is Heather at Credit Card Services and we're calling about your credit card account". . . Automated calls.

I carefully hang up and block each one of these calls on my phone, hanging up on them immediately. Then another number calls. . .

As a result I have compiled a long list of numbers that each have had the very same message. This morning I have sent that list of numbers to the Indian Attorney General's office and filed two formal complaints against the company subjecting both of my phones to these stupid calls. I have case numbers already on both complaints. And I will continue to log them as they come in via my blocked listing.

I only own one credit card - American Express. And they know how to contact me directly.

If you are being subjected to the same calls, PLEASE file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in your state. It's time to stop this bullshit!  :mad: :mad: :mad:

Your number has to be renewed on the list in Florida every 5 years or else it's removed.  Is it the same in Indiana?

7 years. And all of my numbers are currently still on the effective list. In fact, when I went to re-register them there this morning I received a message that all of my numbers are still active on the current list, and that the list doesn't expire. So I immediately went to the complaint page and filed two complaints.

Yeah, I'm on that list too. 

I wonder how they handle that though with people dying, changing numbers, etc.  It would seem that there would have to be some expiration to it.

Robo calls are illegal according to the FTC.

I just filed complaints with them too. Here's the link.

You do not have to be on the federal registry to file a complaint about robo calls.

The thought process is that the owner(s) of the registered number(s) is responsible for updating the information. Anyone dying would eventually have their number/account cancelled and the number re-issued to someone else. If that new owner goes to register their number it would transfer ownership of the number to the new owner.

I don't know anyone that wants phone solicitors calling them. . .

PH, we have had the same calls. The last time when I actually got to speak to an actual person, I asked them did they know we were on a no call list, and I was calling our attorney general to report them as we don't have a credit card. We have a bank card but not a credit card. They promptly hung up and haven't bothered us since.

They are clearly in violation of not only the no call lists when they do this, but in clear violation of robo call legislation according to the FTC.

Moreover, most of these calls are nothing more than criminals attempting to scam people out of their money. A lot of the numbers that come up in caller id are spoofed numbers . . .  :mad:

Yep and they have actually even gotten so smart to use your local area code and number so you think it is someone calling you that you may know. I got where I don't answer the calls.

I usually do not answer any calls that show as "unknown", but due to some ongoing situations in my life at the moment I am forced to answer calls from numbers I do not know for the time being. . .

I never answer calls from a number I don't know.  Generally, if it is a legit call they'll leave a message.  Received a call today where I didn't recognize the number and they left no voice mail.  I looked up the number and it was a some sort of scam.
