I will elaborate a bit. . .

As a young lad first learning to torture my fingers on the guitar, I was introduced to the Eagles by two of my friends who were also trying to learn musical instruments. We hacked away so many evenings in one of my friends basements, trying to learn several of their songs.

With time a patience, we eventually got fairly good at it, found a drummer that was like-minded, and before we knew it we had a nice bevy of girls coming to our practices; and eventually landed a string of paying gigs in the process.

It wasn't anything big, but it was a whole hell of a lot of fun. And the 6 of us did a pretty fair job of mimicking the harmonies of those Eagles tunes. . . And I was a lifelong fan after that. . .

I saw them perform live a number of times, the last time being in 2007-2008?? (I've got a shirt with the date on it somewhere around here) when they came to Indianapolis. Each one of those shows was memorable for me; especially the last one as thoughts of their aging crept into my mind post-performance. . .

Frey will be missed, and while he was not the golden voice of the group, he was an integral part of everything they achieved along the way. And a founding member.

He will be dearly missed by this fan. . . And I'll think of him each time I play one of their songs to myself. . .  :'(

(And how does one explain Joe Walsh outliving him???)

Me too. Until I saw the information posted by Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmidt, and Don Henley on social media confirming it.

At the end of the posting in social media, I was astonished to see the words to the following song posted. It was the exact song that sprang to mind when I first heard the news. . . And how fitting that Glenn sang it:
