Holy shitz!  The big "C" was quick on that one.

After further review, and to his credit as well as his band-mates, he apparently had been not feeling well and he finally went to the doctor to see what it was. I heard on NPR this afternoon, that he had been sick for awhile, since shortly after the completion of their latest, and last recording earlier this year. He and they knew he was dying, and apparently so did a very close circle of friends. The bar / restaurant that he frequented had a particular video game he enjoyed playing immensely, and so they moved the game to his home as he became worse. He died sitting in front of it.

From that I took that they knew he was sick for awhile but no one let the secret out. (I deeply admire them for that, his friends and band-mates, as well as Lemmy himself kept it quiet until he expired. No small task for a rock icon.)

No I have not heard that specifically, but assume this from what NPR / BBC said this afternoon.

And also to the credit of his band-mates, they came right out this morning, announcing the cancellation of their upcoming tour, full refunds for all tickets, and, most importantly, the absolute end of Motorhead. Forever.

They will share the name and the bands catalog of music as it stands this day; never to be added to again.

A lot of people crap on Led Zeppelin for doing the same when Bonzo died, but their reasoning back then is the exact same as that of Motorhead this day. There is no moving forward without him as it would not be the same. I applaud them for such a gut wrenching and honorable decision, and deeply respect it.

Now it appears that the NPR report was not entirely accurate, but the initial timeline was.

He had been in decline but was still playing . After his birthday he was so wiped he could not do a sound check and his band mates suspected he may have had a stroke so he went to the doctor. Doc ordered an MRI which showed cancer all over his brain and neck areas, and gave him a 2-6 month prognosis.

The bar moved his favorite game do his house that day, and he died the next while sitting in front of it.

I think that people over 50 should get Pneumonia shots.  I spent 5 days in the hospital two years ago with the damn stuff and I didn't know I had it.   I had it in both lungs and I just thought I had a bad cold.  I went to the doctor and the doctor put in in the hospital with in the next hour.
