Age is more than just a number. You have obviously been exposed to more older things than I have, so you are "older."

BTW, I'm 64.

I'll admit to being a history buff in many things.

Yup, I was right, we're the same age.  I think I may be a few months older than you, but that's all.

BTW, even though I tend to like my music a little on the rawer side, I admit to really liking the understated groove of the original version of that song.

Anyone watching the Little League World Series?  The kids are amazing.  I'm rooting for my home team, PA, and hoping they win the US Championship game and then the World Series.

I like pretty all music, but I was classically trained (bassoon) so I tend to prefer some complexity in my music.

Since Indiana is presently stuck in the 60's, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that back when the two of you were born it was stuck in a much older period. Hence, Y seems to be "older" because he was indeed exposed to much "older" things and ways of thinking during his formative years.

I'm a bit behind both of you, but given my penchant for absorbing the stories of those much older than me during my own formative years, I too may be somewhat younger than I appear.  (Just like the two of you).

We are each products of our environment; not just what we eat, but what we listen to, become interested in, and are exposed to, culturally and environmentally during our formative years. The variances occur based upon our individual preferences and interests, as well as those of the adults that raise us; bringing spice to life, or stupidity depending upon those very same adults.

So "older" can refer to more than just the years that have passed since our very first breath was drawn.

There are days when I look in the mirror and wonder who the heck that is looking back at me. Days when I notice the crows feet at the corners of my eyes, or when my hair "suddenly" takes on a much lighter shade than the dark, chestnut brown it has always been. . . Conversely, there are days when I look in the mirror and see myself at my physical and mental peak; as I have been for each and every decade within my lifetime thus far.

I have discovered those days are far more frequent as of late. My wife says it is due to the speediness I've magically developed when looking in the mirror. I argue that old bastard in the mirror is a peeping Tom and I keep hoping he'll go away if I refuse to acknowledge his presence. . . or get arrested.

I hate that bastard, so why should I look at him any longer than is actually necessary to ensure his appearance is acceptable and his Johnson isn't hanging out?

I tried to explain to my kids once that when I look at my husband I still see the young, fit man with a full head of hair that I married, not the 70+ balding man with health problems he is now. Hopefully he sees me as I was back then, too. Don't know why that is, I prefer to think it is because I love him, but maybe it is nostalgia.  :)

PH, I understand the mirror thing. There is an old lady who pushes her way in front of me when I try to look in the mirror, too.

I do know one thing Palehorse and that is, if I knew I was going to live this long.  I would have taken better care of myself.
