We have a new member of our family. Kennedy Anne Elizabeth arrived September 3 by emergency c section. She weighed 4 lbs. 14 ounces and is 17 1/2 ounces long. Mommy and baby are doing ok and hope  to go home later this week. I am trying to get a picture in the right format to post. All I have are facebook pictures so far.  :)

Congratulations all around Anne!

Thank you all, I can't wait to see her in person. We are going west for a couple weeks this fall, so I can get to know her then.  :)

 Anne, it will be emotional. I flew to Colorado to meet my grandson. When my daughter handed him to me, I cried.

As a trained and certified Initial Treating Responder (ITR) I was interested to find out that emergency medical information is available to ITR's that find themselves treating an incapacitated iPhone owner; even if the phone is locked.

Click on the health app that comes on the phone, and enter "Emergency Medical Information" into the phone. List health conditions, date of birth, medicines you are taking, both prescribed and over the counter, your blood type, and organ donor status as well. All important information necessary to correctly provide life-saving treatments in those moments when you are unable to relate the information yourself.

And don't count on your spouse being able to rattle all of this stuff off to the ITR's as they prepare to render aid. I can assure you that even the most solid of temperament and constitution usually find themselves rattled to the core as they watch you struggle to maintain your grasp on life.

If your phone has this feature, please use it. It is a risk in today's cyber security society, I know. But I don't mind risking someone knowing what drugs I am on if it means someone that NEEDS to know that information has it readily available in my time of great need. . .

You can even put an emergency phone number(S) into this app, and it will allow the ITR or medical professionals to call them from your phone even if it is locked.

(You may not be comfortable with some or all of this info being readily available like that, but what you enter is up to you. At the very least put in your DOB, medical conditions, and meds. It could save your life!)

I'll be sharing this with my team tomorrow during our tier meetings. I have several team members that have medical challenges for which they are being treated, and while most, if not all of them, have shared this information with me at one time or another, I wouldn't want to count on my memory to save their life.
