Sometimes, but.... The vasodilation of morphine can help patients having a heart attack by allowing blood past a partial blockage and reduce the demands on the heart by doing away with the sympathetic pain response, which ups BP and makes the heart work harder. It can also help patients with pulmonary edema by allowing some of the fluid out of the lungs and back into the vasculature. Some narcotics have multiple actions, not just pain relief.

And excessive Morphine (or any substance for that matter, I suppose) - can stop the heart all together, huh?

When my mother was in her last hours, the Morphine drip seemed to do the trick...

Excessive morphine will slow the respiratory rate. Everything else follows.

Hyperventilation will cure itself. If it gets bad enough, you just pass out. And then it returns to normal.

to work out or not to work out, that is the question...

no food since 7 last night... and none till after 3 this afternoon... (no water either...) but, if i work out i won't be hungry anymore... (at least not for the next couple hours... then i get the munchies like a beast.)

I think working out and not drinking any water sounds like a recipe for dehydration

it was, but it was alright.  motivated me to drink 2 glasses of the nastiest substance on earth for my CAT scan.

and i drank 6 bottles of water when i got home.
