Around the world or the nation, it won't matter either way. Still a chore to get to them.

Well, thanks to Trump, my 401k it has grown TREMENDOUSLY!  Because of the Corp Tax Cuts, my company as of last year, will match up 50 cents to every dollar I put in...and also, wiseass...the company I work for has a profit sharing program that has been the best EVER this last year, and probably even better this year....because of Trump.

So, because of Trump, I will get to retire, although, since I still have kids under my roof, and college coming.....I probably won't retire for another 10 years.

Had this been an Obama economy (as it was) I probably would not have received the nice profit sharing program this year...and the 401k would NOT have been anything to brag about.

THIS is why I voted for him....and I have NO REGRETS!!

What is the limit your company has on the amount of money they will match.     You do know what 401K stands for.  What starts with F and end in K.  It's the fucking you're getting with a 401K.  When it's gone in your retirement, Bunky it's gone.

I told my wife, if anything, we have raised them into believing they can indeed, chase dreams.  It seems like so many kids are graduating High School, getting married, having kids and then divorcing.

This is a big world, and there is so much to see!

Not sure why, but I felt like sharing.  I don't like patting myself on the back, but I am!  I love my family.  Each and everyone of them are good.  They are hard working, honest and kind.  I am truly blessed.  :smitten:

Go ahead and pat yourself on your back!  Raising kids is not for the faint of heart, and when you have this wonderful news, share away!  I'm very happy for you Henry.

Yeah, but I will have to travel the world to see them!!! :spooked:

Don't put it off.  My uncle and aunt had plans to travel all over with my parents once they all retired.  My uncle retired and three months later he was diagnosed with prostate cancer which then spread throughout his body.  He never did get to travel because he was so sick and he died 1 1/2 years later.  Enjoy life now!

Not sure if I shared on here or not, but I am a very proud father.  My middle child, (out of five) she recently graduated from The Travel Academy in Minnesota.  She has accepted a job with Norwegian Cruise Lines.  At the end of this month, she goes to Maryland for 10 days of training, then she will go to Hawaii for 6 months, working for Norwegian.  But, as of today, she had the opportunity to go to Iceland.  She left yesterday and is there now. She will be there for 10 days.   She is a great kid, who a year ago didn't have a clue to what she wanted to do with her life.  My heart hurts that I will not be seeing much of her,  but I am so happy and proud that she took the initiative to do something.

I have a son, in Australia and another son in New Zealand.  They too, had the courage to chase their dreams.

I still have two at home, (Son and a Daughter - Twins).....I probably will be locking them up in the attic.  My wife isn't going to let them go! LOL!

I am so happy for you and your children. I understand how your wife feels, mine lived away too, but not as far as yours. As a bonus you have a few great places to visit.!

This is one of those days when retirement isn't so great. You know that feeling when you need something to do but everything you think of, you don't really want to do right now. So I sit here and think too much. I had a conversation with a neighbor the other day. He confided that he was bored with life. All he does is go to work every day, come home, eat dinner, watch TV until bedtime, and get up the next day and do it all over again. He talked about his marriage of 35 years and how he would never leave his wife. He talked of his marriage as being an investment that he can't just throw away. At the same time he admitted there was no "joy" in it anymore. So he endures. So I started thinking about the couples I know and how they interact with each other. And I thought "Is this the way it's supposed to be?" I can't help but remember a quote from a philosophy class I took many, many years ago - "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field."

Sorry but I'm rambling. But as I said, I am bored today.

Does my memory serve me correctly that you at one time mentioned you played music? If so that might be a good hobby and if  you're handy you might consider building guitars, bass', or even amps as a way to spend time.

If you mean "heaven" as in a place you go when you're dead - no.
I like to think of it as a place where you can find unimaginable joy.

Funny you should mention that. Recently I was in a thrift store and found a kiddie guitar by Discovery. It was pretty beat up and needed new strings and fretmarkers but I bought it ($15) for my grandson. I refinished it a beautiful cherry red, applied new fretmarkers and put on a new set of strings. It looks great and sounds really good. I was so inspired that I dug out my old acoustic 12 string (50 years old) and started work on it. Cleaned it up, straightened the neck, lowered the action by sanding the back of the saddle, and put on new strings. It looks, sounds, and plays better than ever.

Now I'm thinking of digging out my old Gibson EB-0 and giving it new life.

Thanks, me!

You're quite welcome. Maybe there are some open jams around you could go to or have some friends over to jam.

You know ... I spent 30+ years in a job with brutal hours so (outside of work) I never really developed a network of friends. I don't have any. And I'm ok with that. I really am!

Atta Boy Bo! Rediscover the joy that made you hang onto that 12 string and EB-0 for all these years.  8)  And I sincerely hope your grandson discovers that joy himself!

Good job me!
