This is a picture of the New River Gorge Bridge which carries US 19 over the New River Gorge National River just north of Fayetteville, WV.  It was taken in the freezing cold on February 17th.

Some great pictures of George Harrison at the above link; it is his birthday today, (and yesterday).

Oh yeah, the other three are there too. We won't have Paul and Ringo for much longer either.

I watched Paul do "Amazed" on the SNL 40th Anniversary Special, and it was painfully obvious he is growing too old to do his own music. . .

Yeah, that was painful and sad to watch.

Yeah, that was painful and sad to watch.

Absolutely. The thing that prevented me from not watching it was the thought that it may be one of, if not the last public performances of that tune that will ever be. . .

Painful and yet I could not help but be enveloped in the sadness that set put on public display.  :'(

I kind of feel like I grew up with those guys; their music becoming an integral part of my life story and its musical score. . . And I suppose seeing them in such stark decline only forces me to realize that I am in the very same decline myself.

And it begs me to question who the lucky pair of the group really is; Paul and Ringo for surviving, or John and George for their early exits? (I'm not saying that the deaths of John of George were quick and easy by any stretch of the imagination, nor acceptable. However, both were spared aging within the unblinking eye of the global community.)

I have missed John Lennon since the day he was killed, and still do; however George's passing remains the more painful of the two in my small, self-centered world. . .

And then there is the irony within the fact that John and George were both social activists very early in their lives, and the two that engaged in philanthropic endeavors the most. George especially; even shunning the spotlight with purpose for years and only stepping within it when lending his credibility meant funding for an entity that desperately needed it. . . And yet both of them were subjected to being murdered or suffering a long drawn out battle with disease. . .

Whoa there, Mr. Pony!

I know we have been through a lot, but we still have a lot to give. Our minds are sharp (mostly ) and our voices are still strong. We have grandchildren to spoil and stories to tell.

Carry on!
