I agree with everything you said to Exterminator. I love to see the K-9 units out and know that those dogs will lay their life down for their handlers. In my hometown in Owensboro, a deputy went one time to serve papers on a guy, routine court papers, the guy shot the deputy and took, his K9 practically tore up the back seat trying to get to his handler. Thank goodness the guy lived! I love pit bulls, most of them get a bad rap but my adage is a dog is only mean as an owner makes it. Same can be said of horses-a bad horse can take away your desire to ride but a good horse will make you want to ride and a good horse will do anything for you! :)

Yep. There are NO bad dogs; just bad owners. Period.

Our dog is a red-nose and we set out to make him an ambassador for the breed. He obeys the commands of my wife and I, implicitly. The hardest part was teaching him to obey even when he was in the red zone. Eventually he understood what we wanted from him, and once we cleared that hurdle it was all good from there. We do not even have to yell at him; just a word or hand signal are enough. He knows his role in his "pack", and he lives to please.

Exercise, discipline, and a supportive and loving Alpha male and female is all he desires. And we give him all of that. I have no doubt that if an intruder came into our home, he'd be facing one pissed off animal that would at minimum delay them from their intended purpose long enough for his alpha male to get there.  And after that they are dead.

I had our Jack Russell at the vet one time for a check up and a guy brings his pit bull in. Everyone was moving away from him but me- I was like can I pet him, and he said sure, that pit was a big old baby and the guy told me that he raised a few litters but he made sure that everyone signed a contract to get them spayed or neutered and no fighting. My 10 pound JR was trying to take the Pit on and it was hilarious, all the pit wanted to do was play!!! That pit tried to sit in my lap!!

Your new dog is just awesome. (And I don't think that word comes close to doing him justice). I appreciate you sharing his progress with us, very much man. It is simply perfection to see a dog and owner that have the connection you maintain with your animal. It is a rare thing, but gives me hope that not all owners are irresponsible.  8)

Thanks, PH.  Why anyone would want to raise and train a dog like this is something most people will never understand.  I freakin' love it!
Arguing with Christians is like playing chess with a pigeon.  No matter how good I am at chess, the pigeon is just going to knock over the pieces, shit on the board and strut around like it's victorious.

The truth is slow, but relentless. Over time it becomes irresistible.

Ole' Duke recently lost me pitbull "Ole' Girly". Due to lymphoma in her colon I had to have her euthanized. It was one of the most difficult and heartbreaking decisions I have ever made. She was a treasure and I was blessed to have her.

I'm sorry Duke. That rely sucks. Been there, done that, swore I'd never do it again, and I lied. Several times.

It is exactly like losing a member of the family; because it IS losing a member of the the family. It sucks and there is just no way around it. But the reason I've decided to bring another dog into my life each and every time, is because my life is not the same without one.

Each one is different and they bring such joy to our lives. Unconditional love. You don't get that anywhere else.  :smitten:
