Federal extensions of unemployment benefits first became available in California in June 2008. Once offering up to 73 additional weeks of unemployment after someone ran out of their regular up to 26 weeks of state-provide benefits, federal extensions expired at the end of 2013.

Are you dense? What, exactly, is your point with this posting? 

73 and 26 is 99 weeks which is just short of 2 yrs.  Don't know when what I posted was written but we aren't that far into 2014 so it may well have been true also when it was written.  Click the link it breaks it down and shows the tiers.

How can the truth be a lie?  The thing is it happened and fits with the other things I posted be it outdated or current.  Quit making mountains out of mole hills.  Most people realize it was true if they were paying attention and know the extension is no longer in effect as of a few weeks ago.  It's still food for thought about why these things are like they are.

Perhaps like some of you, I have been watching the network coverage of the Winter Olympic Games in Russia this past week. One general observation I have is that I am perplexed by the lethargy on display concerning the US Team this year.

Apparently some of the coaches are grasping at straws over it too, with the speed skating participants changing suits. . .

Does the Earth go around the sun, or does the sun go around the Earth?

When asked that question, 1 in 4 Americans surveyed answered incorrectly. Yes, 1 in 4. In other words, a quarter of Americans do not understand one of the most fundamental principles of basic science. So that's where we are as a society right now.

The survey, conducted by the National Science Foundation, included more than 2,200 participants in the U.S., AFP reports. It featured a nine-question quiz about physical and biological science and the average score was a 6.5.

And the fact that only 74 percent of participants knew that the Earth revolved around the sun is perhaps less alarming than the fact that only 48 percent knew that humans evolved from earlier species of animals.

Here's the thing, though: Americans actually fared better than Europeans who took similar quizzes — at least when it came to the sun and Earth question. Only 66 percent of European Union residents answered that one correctly.

We won't know the full results of the survey—or its methodology—until the National Science Foundation delivers its report to President Obama and U.S. lawmakers. But on this evidence we may end up getting a new national holiday out of this: Spread the Word That the Earth Revolves Around the Sun Day.
