Yet, the article you posted originally quotes two experts who ACTUALLY MAKE THE SOFTWARE  -

"A Seamless Change

Payroll companies say the yearlong change could happen seamlessly even if Congress waits to pass a 2012 extension until the last days of 2011.

"The simple rate change is really a layup for us," said Frank Fiorille, director of risk management at Paychex Inc. (PAYX), which handles payroll processing for 564,000 small and medium- sized employers. "In fact, we can go right down to the last hour to get it done and have it work pretty effectively." "

.........

"Intuit Inc., which makes QuickBooks accounting software for small businesses, would be able to update its system quickly once it receives the necessary information from the Internal Revenue Service, Sharna Brockett, a public relations manager for the company, said in an e-mailed statement.

"Regardless of the outcome, any changes should have minimal effect on our customers and their ability to process payroll with the latest tax rate," Brockett said. "

This two-month extension is terrible policy.  For example, working Americans have no assurance that they will not have a tax hike when the two-month extension expires.  Plus, this will actually add costs and complexity for the nation's employers by requiring additional changes to their payroll systems to accommodate a potential series of changes based on when the Senate and the House do finally come to agreement.  The short-term punt will be especially burdensome to smaller businesses who generally have "off the shelf" payroll applications or who still do payroll by hand.

I'm not making this stuff up....this is what I have been reading, and hearing about........maybe they ARE full of Sh!t, but that IS being reported....and confirmed by two people I have spoken to.

Apparently you didn't read this very carefully.

Here's a third option, and I know it's totally out of character for you, stop relying on what other people tell you and look it the fuck up!  You could have proven to yourself that software is available that can easily handle this situation in far less time than it took you to make yourself look stupid by insisting that there isn't.

Seriously?  I'm supposed to be impressed that you've looked something up rather than relying on what other people say when the links you provided are those of what other people say?  Dear fucking god...

Ex my dear buddy, I can assure you that I am in NO WAY trying to impress YOU!......Nor do I have anything to prove to YOU!....but, it makes for a fun afternoon.

I did look it up....and this is why I began to ask questions....

Well - if you can use the Heritage Foundation, the National Review and Fox as sources, then I'm going to use Huffington Post. I saw a comment in your National Review article that raised my eyebrows - "The two-month payroll tax holiday was a Republican plan, first introduced in 2009." So I checked it out.

"House Republicans Pushed Two-Month Payroll Tax Holiday In January 2009
Just under two years ago, House Republicans, including some of the party's more conservative members, were arguing that a two-month payroll tax holiday would "effectively stimulate" the economy."

So .... what's different now?

Anyone who would buy an off-the-shelf payroll application from a vendor that doesn't provide, for some period of time at least, updates to their tax tables or anyone who must pay even one other person and still processes his payroll by hand is an idiot and I'm sure he finds other things burdensome as well...things like tying his shoes or buttoning his shirt or wiping his ass.

As you are so fond of reminding us, it isn't the government's job to hold these people's hands.

you are right, except for the asshole part...

Sorry HH.  When they're so far to the right that they refuse to compromise on just about ANYTHING -- which in case you haven't noticed is how Congress is supposed to work -- then the word "assholes" definitely applies.  Those fringe elements of your party, to whom John Boehner is now beholden, have rendered this Congress one of the most ineffective in recent history.

but THEY are there NOW, ready to compromise, where is the senate?

Look, I am not going to defend everything they do, because they ARE hard core right, and I am not saying I agree with them on all things....but, the left is playing this for all they can too....

Boehner has told them, they are willing to deal....remember Obama was the one who told them to do a 1-year deal....the house did.  I think the senate was too worried about thier Christmas vacation that they are about getting a deal done.

Reid has a perfect opportunity to call out the tea party...and he is not.

They're as ready to compromise as you are to admit that you're wrong on the payroll software issue.
