and YOU are wrong about the problems created by a 2 month extension and then it stops....I have talke to two accountants and both said it would be a nightmare to do just two months, it is NOT just a simple as pushing a couple of buttons....f@#king idiot.

I guess you didn't read this in the article YOU posted ....

"A Seamless Change

Payroll companies say the yearlong change could happen seamlessly even if Congress waits to pass a 2012 extension until the last days of 2011.

"The simple rate change is really a layup for us," said Frank Fiorille, director of risk management at Paychex Inc. (PAYX), which handles payroll processing for 564,000 small and medium- sized employers. "In fact, we can go right down to the last hour to get it done and have it work pretty effectively." "

.........

"Intuit Inc., which makes QuickBooks accounting software for small businesses, would be able to update its system quickly once it receives the necessary information from the Internal Revenue Service, Sharna Brockett, a public relations manager for the company, said in an e-mailed statement.

"Regardless of the outcome, any changes should have minimal effect on our customers and their ability to process payroll with the latest tax rate," Brockett said. "

Let's see ... do I believe your "two accountants" or do I believe Paychex and Intuit?

Seems like a pretty easy choice there.

all I know is, that I asked the question to OUR accountant and to a company's accountant that I purchase from....BOTH said it would be "screwed" just to do 2 months, then go back to the way it was.  They can and will do it, but not an easy task.
some on here said it is just a manner of punching a few figures and BOOM, done.
He is wrong...and as I am learning he is wrong on many things, but his ego will not allow him to ever admit it.

but what the heck, MERRY CHRISTMAS anyway... ;D

Huh, isn't that virtually exactly what I said?

Henry probably talked to two accountants wo work for the same company he does, one of the small businesses mentioned that might have a problem managing.  Paychex processes payrolls for more than 1,500 times as many companies as Henry's employer has employees so, yeah...do the math.

I've been in accounting and information systems for 25 years and have been hired as a counsultant on many large projects for several fortune 500 companies.  I'll put my understanding and experience up against your accountant at your little electric company any time, especially when it's well established that your employer hires fucking idiots.

^^ HH, Ex is right.  I too have been in IT for 20+ years.  This stuff is all table driven and it really isn't that big of a deal to change.

36 Years for me. And for a large part of that I was a database programmer and sys admin.

LMAO again!  So these little businesses that come and go all of the time without even making so much as a blip on anyone's radar are the "backbone" of America while the multi-billion dollar companies that employ tens of thousands of people aren't even "real" businesses?  Wow...good to know!

Here's a thought for you: inasmuch as you can download payroll software from the internet for under $100.00 for which the vendors provide free updates to the tax tables which would make this transition seamless, why wouldn't any "real" business take advantage of such a cost-effective solution?

QuoteI know this for a FACT....so lyao all you want....

You have over 80 years of combined experience in this field telling you it's bullshit while you, with zero experience, claim it isn't.  Your "facts" on this subject are about as accurate as those on any other.  But yeah...it's my ego that won't allow me to admit I'm wrong.

All I know is this......I talked to two people, I know personally....and that is what they told me.

Now, I know for a fact you can dish out BS.  So, I will side with the people I know and trust.

The whole thing is, it will never be a problem, because they will pass the bill, and it will get extended first two months then to a year.

it is all BS.

Those two people are either complete fucking idiots or, as is more likely, are trying to make themselves look indispensable by making their job far more difficult than it really is.

Here's a third option, and I know it's totally out of character for you, stop relying on what other people tell you and look it the fuck up!  You could have proven to yourself that software is available that can easily handle this situation in far less time than it took you to make yourself look stupid by insisting that there isn't.

Just out of curiosity, what specifically did they mention would be problematic?  Or did they simply speak in generalities?
