I vent sooo much about my job, I decided to start a thread for job venting. People can come here ,and let it rip about their job, and coworkers.
I'll start us on our way......
As some of you know yesterday we had a freak snow storm here. It was dead as hell at work, and the roads got really bad, and my boss kept me my entire shift. It pissed me off, because I stood around doing absolutely nothing for 2 hours. Long story short.... I was still pissed when I went to work this morning.
When I got there, I noticed that the sink in the back that has sanitizer for the dishes was filthy, so I drained it (like you do). OK..... it was disgusting.... it looked like somebody dumped a pot of coffee in it. So my asshole boss says to me(real snotty) "Why did you drain the sanitizer sink?" Remember I was pissed, so I said in a VERY snotty tone "because it was filthy" She says it came out of the tap that way" and I says "it didn't come out that way in my lobby bucket, it's clean" So, she starts to say more, and I cut her off, and said "well is that sanitary? because it doesn't look sanitary to me" and I said it LOUD so everybody in the dining room heard it. It dropped like a sack of potatoes LMAO!!! She never said another word about it. :icon_twisted:
OK,guys let'er rip!!!
Well, I can't really say anything bad about the job I have now cuz my boss is an absolute sweetie and I'm the only employee but I can go on for days about my last job!
I was working at a Classic Rock radio station and had two egotistical, chemically enhanced bosses. They were chronic pains cuz they were lazy and never remembered anything due to the chemical enhancements they chose to entertain themselves with. It was soooooooo high school, you know?
Anyway, I had a call-in trivia show that I was doing in the mornings. My air shift was 9-2 and I always did the trivia at 10. They knew this! It was their friggin idea! Anyway, we only had 2 phone lines at the station and they would come in at 10 and make all their sales calls during the time I was doing my trivia portion of the program. NO ONE COULD CALL IN!!!!
I complained and they told me that I could always give out my cell number and the listeners could call me there. Yeah, RIGHT!!
So I went on the air and gave out their cell numbers! ~Giggle~ Needless to say, they stopped making their sales calls during my trivia portion of my show!

Dish sister!!!! I'd love to hear about it. :smitten:
Which one you wanna hear about?
There was the time I caught one of them chopping up coke on his desk.
Almost caught one of them banging a co-worker in the bathroom.
Was confronted by one of their wives as to whether or not I had any info on his "extra-curricular" activities.
Was called before the board of directors and asked if I had any information about misappropriation of funds.
Got a 3 am phone call from one of them needed to be bailed out of jail.
Had to rescue one of them from security at a local casino after he was found drunk and half naked in the elevator.
Shall I continue?

Jesum Crow!!!! :spooked: Sounds like there was never a dull moment at that job. :spooked: I bet you miss all of that.
Well today I have the last scheduled parent/teacher conference. Now mind you, I did my conferences 4 weeks ago. These idiots just can't seem to get it together and get in here to talk about their lazy kid. Where does he get it? Hmmmm one can only guess! I do hope they show up. This does not make it easy since he is on my retention list and by law I have to meet with them!!!
Ohhh Good luck w/that kimmi. Not as a teacher, but I've worked w/parents long enough to know that they're often worse than the kids. IF he needs to be retained, that's only going to help him. Maybe he can grasp it better second time around and not only will it build his confidence, but prepare him better for the transition to the next grade. Retention isn't the best case scenario, but even when you have parents who work with their kids sometimes the kids do poorly because the kid doesn't chose to hold up their end of the bargain. Parents and teachers can only lead them to the water. So, it's refreshing to me to hear that there's still a school that will retain and give them a chance to do better/mature. Having lived in Maryland and California, they both do social promotion. (I think that's what it's called). It all catches up w/them at the end. When they're ready to graduate and don't have their credits. Maybe that's better. (shrug).
Anyway, good luck.
BTW, I don't have a vent about my job. I like to complain about it, because it's fun to whine a bit and healthy too I think, but overall, it's not that bad. I enjoy the work, even if it's not my life's calling and I have a great boss and I love my co-workers. The one hag that likes to spread her foul moods all over the place is leaving for another job at the end of the month. Life is good. ;D
Ya know, I could piss an moan about various things, but after almost 35 years, most of them aren't worth the effort. Like I always say, "it could be worse." As a matter of fact, I guess I should feel lucky I've had a job all this time. Many friends were not so fortunate and are still struggling to pay the bills this very day. I, and many others, are being pushed into retirement a little earlier than planned, but it's not going to make a huge difference, it might even make things better in the long run. I could complain about my health insurance costs going up, but I still have it, and at a much better rate than many outside this company, so I'll just make the best of it. I guess the thought of actually retiring from here and starting up a business of my own has me feeling pretty good lately. I've been smiling everyday that I come in, knowing it will be one step closer to getting away from some of the ignorance of corporate America.
AMEN 442! Now that's a strong, healthy attitude to have--med free, I'll bet
KFC got turned on its ear!!!! We have a guy from corporate that comes in 2 times a year to give our stores a performance review. I found out today, that from now on the usual guy from corporate, will no longer be doing our reviews. The KFC corporation has hired a company that aren't employed by KFC. :spooked: Kind of like being oursourced in a way? Of course everything is in an uproar, because these new inspectors are extremely by the book. They have a completely different set of standards. I don't know why this all happened, unless corporate thought that there was favoritism being shown. I think to an extent there was. I've got a feeling we're in for it. Our store is far from by the book. I try to do things by the book as much as I can though. It ought to be interesting to say the least. :spooked:

Med free since 1995 when I got off of shift work and went to 8 hour straight days. Prozac was my friend for the 3 years preceding that change. Nothing like 22 years of shift work to create a festering hatred for anything and everything. I can look back and laugh now, but at the time........... :rifle: :rifle: :rifle:
I gave up a lot financialy, but what I gained in peace of mind and better health was priceless. Plus, I didn't end up in jail, or worse.

A good independent audit can be a good thing. It will keep people honest and reveal the BS. Just make sure you are doing, or at least trying to do, things by the book. Be truthful when asked, but DO NOT volunteer info. An old auditor's trick is to not say anything, and wait for someone to get nervous and break the silence with unrequested information.
Yeah, I enjoy doing audits :icon_twisted:
Our school system just had a curriculum audit that looked at everything from the school board policy down to how many pencils each child gets at each school. It was awesome. Finally, the blame isn't completely on the shoulders of the teachers. They have tried to fix us for years! haha Not too many school systems that are not in trouble get an audit done but we are always the exception to the rule.

I think we've had it. :spooked: I guess this new guy has failed a bunch of them already. He's super strict from what we've been told. We keep our drinks in the back, away from any food source, and now all of a sudden ,we have to keep lids on them. WTH is that about?? I wonder if there are security cameras in place, and we just don't know it? Some of my coworkers think it's funny to put stuff in each others drinks. How juvenile huh? It makes me wonder what's going on?

I think teachers get too much of the blame. Usually, most of the problems are systematic. It's not just one problem it's a bunch of them. The teachers just get the heat over everything.
BTW... Have you heard anything about how that student of yours, that got in trouble is doing?
No emails from mom lately, but I've seen his younger brother that I had last year and he tells me that Taylor is doing good. That could mean a whole bunch of things, but I would like to think that he is honestly doing good. I may shoot her an email tonight.

I hope everything is going well for him. Maybe with treatment he can have a normal life. Sometimes kids just need a little extra help, and love, and attention too. I was a problem child,I had issues, but I never got love, and was always treated with negativity. I turned out pretty good. :spooked: OK.... I'm a little nuts... but we can't all be sane.

That sounds about right.
Well, I finally found out what all the big deal has been going on at work. All of this chaos has been over a food sanitation incident in New York. It was reported heavily in the media several months back. KFC corporation has taken extreme measures, to make sure food sanitation procedures, are followed by the book. Infact, corporate is retraining all of its management on food safety. They are going to every single store KFC owns, and individually retraining each manager. They will be at our store this coming Friday. The crew is NOT being reviewed. The management is.
My boss loves to cause pain and suffering. Today, she started a rumor at work about one of the managers. She's telling everybody his wife is cheating on him. It could be true, but it's between his wife and him IMO. She came to me, and said"I would love to get a picture of her with another guy." I didn't even have time to think, and I said "Karen do not get involved in that, don't get involved" then I said" do you realize how hurt he would be, do you realize the hurt that would cause?" She never said another word to me about it. Why does she get off on hurting people? Sometimes, I truly believe she is the devil incarnate. She is a demon from Hell.
Dex, you gave her excellent advice. Sadly, it seems like her life is so empty that she thrives on the misery of other people. I worked with a lady and her husband once. One of our coworkers claims that she knew the woman's husband was cheating on her. She said that another woman had moved with to Maryland to be with him when they moved to Maryland from Louisiana. She was telling myself and another coworker, giggling the entire time. I didn't see the humor. The woman she was talking about was a sweetheart. She seemed to have it all. A nice husband, kids, home and she was in her 40's and looked 30...easy. She had such a young baby face. The giggler didn't have any problems with this woman, no one did, she's a very nice person. Anyway, I flat out asked her. Why are you giggling? What's so funny about someone else's pain? Her response? "I went through it. My husband did that to me and didn't care that he tore me apart and drove our kids away from me" So I told her, "then you should be most sympathetic of all. You have first hand experience how awful this could be for her, if it's true". She rolled her eyes and continued to spread the rumors until they got back to the woman. The woman very nicely confronted her and the giggler defended her rumor by citing the source. The woman went to her desk and called the source and told her that she was wasting her time w/those lies because she knows that her husband loves her and hung up. I didn't hear anymore about it after that. That's not saying that more wasn't said, but I distanced myself from the entire situation after that day. Not only is it mean of her, but it's irresponsible to cause problems like that in the workplace.
Some peoples lives are so miserable that they become numb, and the only way they can "feel" alive is to cause misery in the lives of others. Some of them get real good at it too! :icon_evil:

This is an update.... this morning the male manager, that my boss wants to tell sooo bad came into work, with a busted up hand. He told us he punched something ,and set his bed on fire last night. He didn't say why, but my wretched boss was happy as a clam. I don't know if he found out or what. This is exactly why I think she should STFU!!!! He's a very emotional guy,and he could do something drastic to himself, or his wife,or their 2 small children. That stupid bitch will never learn. :gha:
Yesterday we were busy as hell at work. Corporate came to train the managers. My boss, and the manager from the store across town fought the entire time, trying to make each other look bad in front of Steve from Corporate. They managed to look like total idiots. They're both a couple of morons IMO. Needless to say, we were busy as hell, and my boss didn't get any extra help for us, while they had their meeting. No one got a break, and I didn't get off until 4:30. I had to haul ass, to pick up dinner, and needed to be home by 5:00, to get hubby up for work, and fed. I drove like a bat outta hell, and made it home at 5:10. Thank God for Chinese take out!!!!
KFC called me this morning ,and I didn't answer the phone ha ha. Thank God for caller ID. Somebody probably called off ,because they can't handle the time change LMAO!!! After last week, there's no way in hell,I'm going to be there more than my scheduled hours.
Everything has taken a bad turn for our male manager ,that was having marital problems. :'( He found out his wife is cheating on him, and has totally lost it. Saturday night he called my boss at work. He was in his car in the Walmart parking lot, crying hysterically, and getting stoned (yes stoned). He told our boss that he needed a week off, to deal with his problems. Last they heard he went to his sister's house in California. I've got a real bad feeling about all of this. We're worried he may try to kill himself. He had serious issues before any of this happened. He had a horrible childhood, and has never met his Dad, because his Dad was sent to prison ,shortly after he was born. I was shocked to hear it when he told us, he lit his bed on fire. Come to find out.... he's a fire bug. As a child he use to light stuff on fire, when he'd get upset. He accidentally set himself on fire, when he was trying to torch his bed as a child. :spooked: I don't know if my boss told him about it,or how he found out. I would just about bet it was the boss. I hope she's happy, when we get a call that he killed himself STUPID BITCH.
I found out today that my boss is the person that told him.

I'm soooo mad at her. She starting blabbering about it the first thing when I walked in this morning. I asked her how he found out, and she mumbled something. And I said "what did you say?" She says "I told him,but he already knew." I looked at her and said "You're the person that told him?" I said "Oh Karen you didn't?" She says "I did." I turned and walked away, because I had this overwhelming urge to hit her. :spooked: I did get some information about what actually happened though. He didn't go to California. Infact, he didn't go anywhere. We've got a bunch of people out sick right now. This morning she called him at home, and made him come in. I don't think it was right, for her to force him to come in. Although, it is good to keep your mind occupied sometimes. He seems OK, but he told me today that he's been cutting his legs. :'( I feel soooo bad for him. He's a real good guy. I don't know how my boss can even face him. She makes me sooooo mad. I really don't hate anybody in the world, but I'm growing to hate my boss. She is totally evil. Her and I don't mesh well, because we are total opposites. I'm love and light, and she is hate and darkness.
Cutting his legs? OMG this guy has issues. Do you think that his wife was really cheating on him or does he seem like the type that would think that regardless? She still should have kept her nose out of it, but it sounds like his issues are worse than having a busybody as a co-worker. Is there a chance that she wants him?

I guess she was actually cheating on him with 2 other guys. I think my boss may have the hots for him. It's kind of crazy, because her and I are both 37,and he's 24 I think? Waaay to young for somebody our age IMO. His wife is bi polar ,and from what I've seen, she is a really mean person. People wonder why they're even together. I'm sure he does all of the cooking ,cleaning, and caring for their 2 small children, plus working at KFC as a shift manager 40+ hours a week. My boss knows I'm mad at her over it. I told her not to get involved, but she couldn't keep her wretched self out of it.
This morning she said he didn't need time off, because her husband cheated on her twice, and she didn't miss any work. She said she was pregnant with her youngest son, when she caught her ex hubby in bed with her best friend. :spooked: I would imagine that's some of the reason that she involves herself in things all the time. She has an axe to grind, and doesn't care who gets hurt in the process.
Sounds like it and that's a shame. He needs to keep it together if he cares about the kids. He doesn't want to do crazy stuff like setting the bed on fire or cutting himself, because they court will look at that when they discuss custody...should they separate/divorce.
Poor guy definitely needs a friend, but she's not the the answer. Besides, who is she to determine what someone else needs? Everyone reacts to stress differently. She's not only mean, she's stupid.

I don't know what's gonna happen. I guess it happened over his girlfriend. Get this...... Brad (my coworker) was in bed with some gal at his apartment. Her ex boyfriend was hiding in the closet, watching them have sex. :spooked: He was pleasuring himself. :spooked: When Brad found out he was in there, they starting fist fighting. The other guy took off on foot. Brad was soooo pissed, he went after him ,and they started fist fighting in the street, and Brad shanked him. It wasn't a severe wound, more or less superficial, but that's all it takes. I admit that would piss a person off, but I don't think it was worth going to prison for.
That's crazy! Talk about drama! Did he ask the girlfriend why he was in there?
Nope not worth going to prison for at all....

Normally, in most states, county jails only take inmates for up to 2 years. Inmates with longer sentences go to state prisons. Most state prisons do not have work release programs
I recently read something somewhat humorous...
The only difference between many successful business leaders (eg: CEOs, company presidents, supervisors, etc) and sociopathic criminals is that the former have been successful in their careers.

Ya know, I was shocked to hear he did that, because he's extremely laid back. I couldn't have been more surprised, if I woke up with my head sewn to the carpet. ;D
 Well, my boss accomplished what she wanted. She may live to regret it though. The male manager that she told about his wife, officially hates working at KFC now. He told me today, he used to enjoy working there, but now he absolutely hates it . He always walks with his head down now. I'm sure it's hard for him, knowing that everybody knows what happened. He seems ashamed, even though it isn't his fault. I could throttle my boss for getting involved in that, and telling everybody under the sun about it. Dumb bitch!!! If he quits, we'll be losing a hard worker, and a good manager. I intend to tell her tomorrow what she has done to him, how she has hurt him, and that he'll probably quit. I'm not pulling any punches with her.
Just when I thought I'd been shocked, by something she has done, something else happens. Yesterday, one of the guys told me, he sent a picture of his penis to her cell phone. :spooked: I asked him what on earth made him do that? He said she asked him to. :spooked: OK, she's 38, and he's 21, why would she ask to see a child's penis? IMO, he is a child ,because he's got the mentality of a 12 year old LOL!!! I was soooo shocked when I heard about that, my chin hit the ground. :spooked:
That's legally sexual harassment. The burdon would be for him to prove she asked him to, I think, but she may want to be careful of ever firing him.

He said he does that a lot. They constantly send dirty jokes back and forth, on their phones. My biggest problem with it, is my boss engaging in such behavior. Every since she got divorced, she has been completely out of control. She drinks like a fish, and she doesn't give a damn how the store does. She doesn't care. She's chummy with all the kids, and lets them get away with murder. Nobody does a God damn thing around there. Then she expects me to do it all, and it's getting very old. She's so busy trying to be cool with the kids, that everything else, is going to hell in a hand basket.

Seriously, she's setting herself up. If any of those kids ever get disgruntled because she has to step up and do her job as manager and actually discipline or fire them ... she may have put herself into a position that she not only loses her job, but won't be able to find another. Nobody wants the stigma of sexual harassment hanging over their door, because the payouts can be huge. If she's a single mom ...for the lack of a better phrase...to coin something my mom would have said....she needs to stop shittin' where she eats.

Sometimes, I wonder how many of my coworkers could be blackmailing her. There is A LOT of sex talk all the time at work. It seems we just can't get through the day without it, Ugh!!! She acts like a bitch in heat all of the time.
She definitely has the hots for that male manager, that's for sure. It became very obvious yesterday. When he came in the door, she yelled "Happy Birthday Travis!!!" at the top of her lungs. Then she told him that she was soooo glad he didn't take the day off, because it makes her day sooo much better when he's there. LMAO!!! When she said that me, and the day shift cook shot each other a look, and rolled our eyes LMAO!!! It's painfully obvious that she just "had" to tell him about his wife, because she's got the hots for him. Get this.... he told her yesterday, that he and Brad (the one that shanked that guy) drove by her house the night before. :spooked: I think Travis will go for it, because Karen is an easy target. She gives all the guys she goes with gifts, and money, in a futile attempt to keep them. I can see that happening, and her getting her widdle heart broken once again. :icon_twisted:

Well, our male manager who's been having marital problems, got busted for possession of pot,and driving with a suspended license. His brother Frank got busted for obstructing a police officer. I read about it in the paper. It happened at 11:00 am, and I'm sure he was scheduled to be at work at 11:30 am. So, I bet my bitch boss ended up being short on crew that day hahahahaha!!!! Serves the bitch right. Every since she told him about that, his life has spun completely out of control. I wonder if she paid his bail? She ought to IMO. :icon_twisted:
yeah..but it wasn't her fault that he was driving on a suspended license. That's all his fault....can't blame anyone but himself for that one. He's been arrested repeatedly for driving without a license. He never learns on that one. He owes hundreds of dollars in court cost. It wasn't my boss' fault that he drove without a license. But by her telling him his wife cheated on him, brought a drastic change to him. He had a right to know, but it wasn't her place to tell him that IMO!!! She didn't have to tell everybody in town about it. She should have been discreet. I'm sure he'll lose his kinds, and God help them if his wife gets them. She's completely insane. Him and his wife are back together!!! In a way I'm glad, because he tried to hang himself over the weekend, and luckily it didn't work. He has rope burns on his neck. He needs professional help soooo bad, it's horrible to see him in this shape. He's been getting drunk and stoned every night. He looks horrible, almost like walking death. :'( He looks almost hollow, his eyes don't look right. A very sad situation indeed.
 Here's a vent.... Next week, I have to work 5 days instead of 4 like I usually do. All 5 days are salad days. This pisses me off because on salad days I open. It wouldn't be sooo bad, if my lazy ass boss would help with anything, but she sits on her ass doing absolutely nothing, while I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Luckily, 2 days I will open with the assistant manager, she helps a lot. I get sick to death of my boss' laziness, it gets real old. I guarantee by Friday I'll be super bitch. :icon_twisted:

Oh not good. I retract my suggestion.
I guess him and his wife are NOT back together. This whole thing has played out, exactly the way I figured it would. He put in his 2 weeks notice yesterday. He's really in need of professional help. He told everybody he is going to become a drifter. His first stop...... New York. His wife wanted everything, and that's what she is getting. The house, the car, the kids, and the bills. He's walking away from it all.
I don't blame him for quitting, but he can't walk away from his responsibilities, it's not that easy. I hope he gets the help he needs.

His kids will grow up without their father. It is history repeating itself. Travis and Franks Dad went to jail for attempted murder when they were little. Their Mama is a crack whore. The way I understand it.... Travis has been supporting his Mom, Frank, his wife, and his 2 kids. It's no wonder he's cracked under the strain of everything. I hate to see him go. He's a good guy ,and a hard worker, a few of us are carrying the place, and he's one of us. It's a shame and it's not easy, life isn't easy, but he has the ability to break the cycle . . . he just has to be strong enough to do it or provided w/the right motivation. If he loves his children, then I'm sure he doesn't want this for them. He doesn't want them to grow up feeling like he does. The mother doesn't sound as if she'll provide the best environment for them either.
I don't blame him for wanting to get away from your boss, she's poison, but hopefully he'll find another job and reconsider leaving the kids behind and lastly get some help. Does he realize that he needs some help or is he the type that thinks he can handle it and there's nothing a therapist can do for him?

He would never get professional help willingly. At work we were discussing it today, and we think he has had a total nervous breakdown. Something really bad, is my coworkers are pissed, because they say he's being selfish, by leaving his kids behind. It is selfish, but he isn't in his right mind right now. I tell them..... if Travis was his normal self, he would never do this. We all know that. They don't seem to understand what has happened, and how profound the effect has been. He just isn't all there. I would LOVE to bitch slap my boss. Not just because of this deal with Travis, but because of the person she is. She is lower than a troll.

NOT GOOD TIMES!!!!
Well, tomorrow I start the work week from hell. This weekend went by in double time. Five days of opening the store. UGH!!! At least tomorrow and Tuesday, I open with our assistant manager. She actually helps a lot. Wed - Fri I open with my boss. UGH!!! She doesn't do a single thing to help out anybody. She's liable to hear a few words about her laziness somewhere around Thursday. :icon_twisted: Thursday, is my most dreaded day of the week. I open at work, gas the car up, go to the bank, and do my Walmart shopping. I usually get home around 4:00 and have a few minutes to rest, before I get Hubby up, fed,and off to work. Then I have to feed the critters, carry all the Walmart shit in, and put it all away. Then comes laundry, and whatever housework that needs to be done. I usually don't make it here until after 8. I hate Thursdays. That's usually when I finally get something to eat too.
I have to go back tomorrow. I still have 2 report cards to do and I thought I was being so helpful by doing them in Spanish but now it takes too long to do. Oh well. I'll have my kids do a writing sample in the AM and get them done.
On a good note, I can count down the 9 weeks until the year ends!

I wish my work was over in 9 weeks. Unfortunetly, mine is year round. LMAO!!!

I think I probably will end up quiting. I have to find something else, before I do though. It's hard to do when you don't have any education, and no job experience besides fast food. I'm just getting to old for this crap. I'm a victim of age discrimination, because they expect more out of me ,because I work with a bunch of lazy ass kids. My boss expects me to do just about everything when I'm there. The week after next Travis, our manager with marital problems is leaving, and he's one of the best workers we've got. I actually begged him not to quit LMAO!!! It didn't work though, he has already made up his mind.
Today, I vented to our assistant manager about what a load of crap our KFC has become. I told her I hate working there ,and she wanted to know why. So, I was blunt and to the point. I told her nobody ever does anything around there. The newer crew members don't do diddly squat. They don't clean, they don't stock, and they're all around lazy..... and she totally agreed with me. :spooked: :spooked: :spooked: I stopped short of telling her to MAKE THEM DO STUFF. My God, if the management are aware of this, and don't do anything about it, it is their fault IMO. Ya know, when I worked at a McDonald's years ago, they begged me to be a manager, but there wasn't much more pay,and you had to put up with a lot of crap. I can't really see working that many hours a week. I'm too by the book for KFC management. I wouldn't put up with the laziness that the management do now. If it was me, I'd clean house, and fire most of the people we've got there now,and hire a crew that was older. Kids are extremely lazy these days, and that doesn't cut it with me.
Why not, Dex? You said that you wanted to look for other work, but wasn't sure where to look. Stay where you are, clean house and turn it into a better working environment. If nothing else, you'll earn extra skills that will make you even more marketable when you decide to find another job.
It may not be as time consuming as you think. If you work smart and efficiently then you can probably get their job done a lot faster than they do with little complaints!!! I think you would be great at it. You obviously know how that place ticks (and what to do when chicken wings are gone!).

I would love to clean house, but I'm not in a situation where I could. I haven't got the time to invest. Hell, it's killing me to do 5 days a week. I've opened 3 days this week, and I'm pratically dead LMAO!!! Two more to go, and 5 next week.

My wife and I both work long hours and we have come to depend on instant mashed potatoes as part of a quick meal.
Buy a good brand - Betty Crocker, Idaho Spuds (my favorite) - and switch the measurements for the milk and water.
That is - if the box calls for 2 cups water and 1 cup milk, instead use 2 cups milk and 1 cup water. Also use real butter, not margarine.
YUMMMMMM!!!!!! Better than the real thing!
I'll have to try the switching thing. I hate instant potatos, but they are fast and Lil Mojo loves them.

Adding extra butter helps too. I keep a box just in case I am short on time or run out of 'taters. What Bo D suggested really does make a difference and if ya don't mix 'em too thin they don't make bad 'tater cakes either.

I do that too!!!! My Grandpappy used to make the best mashed potatoes. He used real potatoes. The red ones. He cooked them and mashed them, and then he would heat the milk and butter in a pan,and add it to them. They were out of this world. Sometimes I put milk and margarine, and cream cheese in my homemade potatoes, it's pretty tasty.

They are a lot more convenient than having to peel them. We don't eat them a lot. I think most of the time the homemade are worth the effort.
A friend of ours sometimes puts sour cream in her mashed potato's. I'm not a sour cream lover and the first time I seen her do it I was like eeewww but they weren't bad.

Do you put onions in yours? I sometimes even put finely grated cheese in mine. Makes it a little hard to clean the skillet but tastes yummy so its worth it.

A friend of ours sometimes puts sour cream in her mashed potato's. I'm not a sour cream lover and the first time I seen her do it I was like eeewww but they weren't bad.
Stuff like that makes them more rich and creamy. Like I need more calories.

Nope, more like a thick tortilla.

Never had one. What do they taste like?
You've never had a tortilla? A soft taco or burrito? That's a flour tortilla (more than likely), but they make them from corn too. They're tasty ... much better than flour.

I had a tortilla one time and didn't care for it. I stick mostly to the burrito's and taco's in a Mexican restaurant. At Taco Bell its usually a Mexican Pizza or Nacho supreme.

I worked at a Taco Bell years ago. I'll never forget my first day..... you know those little cinnamon twists they have? Somebody yelled to me drop some twists. They didn't give an amount they just told me to drop them. Anywho... I poured a bunch of them in the fryer, those things really expand. Before I knew what was happening, they were bubbling up over the sides of the fryer. They were going all over the floor. :spooked: I was mortified!!!! I didn't get in to trouble though. FYI.... those things start out as corkscrew pasta.

I've eaten at Taco Bell since the mid 70's. They used to have a taco burger that was out of this world. The cinnamon crisps used to be in the shape of a triangle and were more like a pie dough thing instead of being full of holes and airy.

I like them now but back then you could get a beef burrito and it had more beef than beans and lettuce and it had diced onion too. It really irritates me now that you have to get extra beef and still don't get as much as they used to have as they came. The Mexi melt is the only thing that hasn't changed much. They also changed their recipe about sometime in the early 90's and it isn't near as good as it used to be.

I always thought it sucked, that fast food places are so stingy with condiments, and such. At KFC, my boss doesn't like it when I assemble stuff, because I don't go skimpy LOL!!! I think of it like this.... if I buy something, I don't want minuscule amounts of stuff, so why cheat others out of it. You pay good money, and it should be a satisfactory product. Man, what a bummer of a day. There is sooo much turmoil at work, that the past 2 days, I have come home totally depressed. :'( Everything is in an uproar over Travis' situation. He's the manager with the marital problems. I've been training his replacement on salads this week. Brad (the stabber) is his best friend, and much to my surprise, is also his replacement.
Travis' life has spiraled out of control to the point of insanity. He has repeatedly tried to kill himself, and has been inflicting injuries on himself. A couple of nights ago he walked out in front of a train, and was going to let it hit him. I guess he was standing there, and the engineire was blowing the whistle, and just as it got super close, he saw his children's faces, and jumped out of the way. :'( Right now, he is sitting in jail. He called KFC today, and told them he is in jail, but we don't know what for. I thought seriously about going down, and bailing him out. But he might be safer there. I guess last night he kept calling his wife, and threatening her from work. Last night at work he kept holding a nickel over a lighter, and getting it hot, and burning himself with it. OMG!!!! He is soooooo out of control. :spooked: God damn my boss for telling him!!!! I guess some of my coworkers were trying to get him to seek help, and he tore in to everybody there. He told everybody to STFU ,and mind their own business, that there was no reason for everybody to be talking about his life etc, etc, etc. If my boss would have kept her fat friggin mouth shut, it wouldn't have gotten to this point!!! I knew that was why he was quiting. He's embarrassed that everybody knows his personal problems. He's suppose to work tomorrow, but I don't know if he'll make it or not. I don't know if anybody bailed him out or not. I try not to get involved in stuff like this, infact I'm kind of a closed off person, and I don't get super close with coworkers. I'm not close with Travis, but he's a good guy, and a hard worker, and he has been soooooo wronged by my boss, it really bothers me. I don't suffer from depression much, but this situation as bummed me out big time. :'( It's hard to work where there is always drama. My boss lives for drama, and she loves to create drama. I learned today that everybody there HATES her. Not one person there today had a good thing to say about her. :icon_twisted: Something else that bugs the hell outta me is that he might try to hurt or kill somebody, or his kids. Keep in mind he has the kids in his custody, his wife did not want them. So, that's a whole other set of worries there. I just don't know what is gonna happen. I try to reach out and help people. When I see him, I'm going to tell him to quit hurting himself, and learn to love himself. That's all I can think to tell him.
Hopefully something or someone will get through to him that his kids need him and he needs to get it together for them.
Quote from: me on April 08, 2008, 09:40:52 PM

One of the guys asked him if he still cares for his children, and it really set him off. He loves his children, he's just not well right now. He isn't thinking clearly. This is just not the normal Travis. I can't get over the drastic change in him. Him and his wife have been together for 8 years. She has always wanted to be married. He married her a few months ago. He thought that would solve all of their problems. Not a good move on his part. I don't know his wife, but from what I've heard, and what he has said, she must be a real doozy.
I wish that guy would get some help, but in all honesty, he doesn't seem blameless. He seems like a bit of a drama queen himself. I know he's upset and he's not right, but some of the things you say he's doing seems to be a "look at me" cry for attention. I tend to have little patience w/that. That's why we need sweet and professional people like Sunny
My thoughts are....he's an adult....the temper tantrums and crazy behavior aren't going to get him anywhere...sure he got a raw deal in life and I agree that your boss should have minded her own business...but that doesn't make a life for him or his children. He has to do what he has to do and right now he's not doing himself any favors.
Just my two cents.
Well, there will be no more Travis drama. He was arrested night before last for battery against his wife. He wouldn't let anybody bond him out of jail. As I understand it 10, or 15 people went to the jail to get him out. That tells a little bit about how he is viewed by others. He's a good guy, and if I was him, I probably would have beat her to death. She's lucky he didn't do just that. I'm sure she richly deserved it. He called work today, and said he pled guilty, and he is in for 90 days. The guys at work said, if he doesn't kill himself, he will probably only do around 45 days. IMO, the bitch isn't worth it. If I ever ,ever, hear my boss start to meddle in anybody else's business again, I'm gonna deck her.

I figure he'll probably end up killing himself in there. I had a cousin that got busted for dealing dope, and he hung himself in jail, after about 3 days of being there. He was only looking at 10 years max. Here's the kicker..... he never called anybody for bail, and nobody knew he was there. My uncle got a call from the county jail, they said.... your son hung himself here at the jail, and we need you to come, and collect his personal belongings. :spooked: They had absolutely NO idea he was even in jail. So, I could see that happening with Travis, after he realizes that now he is stuck there, and there is no getting out until his time is served.
Wonder if it would do any good to alert them about his mental condition so they could keep a closer eye on him.

That's what I was wondering too. Tommorrow, I'm going to ask our assistant manager about that. Maybe she can call the jail and tell them. I think that would be a real good idea, if it's not too late.
Well, the beotch is back!!! She wasn't due back until Saturday, but now our assistant manager has personal issues, and couldn't work today. Oh the drama.... My boss wouldn't dish on the assistant manager's personal issues, but anybody else is fair game for the snake licker. Today, anytime Travis' name came up, I shot my boss a look, and she kaboshed the conversation. She must realize, that she is a lot of the reason for all of it. She knows I was right when I told her not to get involved. I'm always right LOL!!!!
The guys at work think that Brad (the stabber turned manager) will get jail time over his incident. At least my boss didn't have a hand in that situation.
I have to wonder if the drama will ever end there.
Today, I got the race card bounced off of me. When I look at a person I don't see race or color, I see a human being. A black gentleman came in today and my boss waited on him. I could have sworn he was one of our regulars. This guy ordered mac & cheese, and the regular customer always orders mac salad. I asked him if it was macaroni salad, and he says "Hell no!!! mac & cheese. I said "don't you usually get mac salad he says 'no'. I said you look just like a regular of ours that orders mac salad everytime" get this ...... he says "why because I'm black? My boss says "Now why would you go, and say something like that?? And I said "no, you look just like this other guy, and they say everybody has a twin. I felt bad, because what I said was not intended to a racial comment. He never said anything after that. And when he left my boss says to me "Why the hell do people always play the race card?'" I said "I don't know, but that wasn't what I meant. She says "I know that's not what you meant, don't worry about it" It makes me sad and angry. It's weird how people can twist everything into being about race.

Well, our assistant manger had a fight with her boyfriend Wednesday night, and my boss had to come back from her vacation early to cover her. How crazy is that? It happens all the time with our AM. Everytime she gets into it with one of her men, she calls the boss in the middle of the night, drunk and bawling and needing the next day off. If any of us crew members called off for something like that, my boss would have a cow. There's always some sort of drama at my job.People there can't seem to check their emotional baggage at the door, like you're suppose to. I do. I walk in there and leave everything at the door. It will be waiting for me when I get off LMAO!!!
Well, I guess Travis is comming back after he serves his sentence. I guess he's been in contact with the boss, and wants to come back. They already filled his management position, and I know he wont get that back. They also hired a replacement cook for night shift. Everytime, someone quits my boss rushes to fill the position. Then other people's hours get cut, when somebody that has quit comes back. She does it every single time. There is a minor uproar over it. I knew he'd regret it eventually. Not to mention... it's hard to find a job when you have a criminal record. I'm glad he is coming back. I just hope to God everybody stays out of his business. My boss better keep her mouth shut!!!
The fire alarm is going off. They've notified us that it's a false alarm and now I'm wishing they'd cut the damn thing off.
Something kind of torqued me at work today. At work we get endless drinks for free, but we have to have our own cup with a lid. Now accidents happen but ... today our day shift cook knocked my cup to the floor, and destroyed it. It's one of those heated mugs, that has wiring in it. This is the part that torks me.... The cook says... "Hey Dex, I knocked your cup on the floor" and I said... "Did it spill?" and he said "yeah". Later on I went to fill it, and the whole inside lining was broken into a million pieces. Hence.... the cup was trashed, and can't be used. Why didn't he tell me he broke it? And maybe apologize? I realize accidents happen, and that isn't what bugs me, but he should have told me he broke it. I guess he was too chicken shit to apologize.

Today, I went off on my boss.. BIG TIME!!!! I've had my fill of the lazy asses on night shift. This morning we put all of the leftovers from yesterday in to the oven. When the corn timer went off, I pulled it out of the oven to pan it up. I took the lid off, and there was only maybe a third of a cup of corn in it,and it had burned to a crisp. The night shift people were too lazy to pan it up. I never talk that way when I'm at work, and I think I stunned her speechless LOL!!! I guess even I have a breaking point.
Kyle, the guy that broke my cup at work, really has it in for me. Today, he tried to pin something on me that I didn't do, just because he has some sort of a problem with me. I've never said or done anything to him, and have never argued with him. I had to bite my tongue in half, not to mention the cup he broke. He's in the clique and I'm not so it would have gotten turned on me somehow I'm sure. I'm sorry my coworkers are low life trash, but just because I'm on the straight and narrow, doesn't mean they should pick on me, and get away with it. Assholes
Well, we got a letter from Travis today from jail. Sounds like a very bad place to be. He thinks he might have to do the entire 90 day stint. He apologized profusely for acting like he did. I guess the food is pretty bad. He said they have raisin bran cereal every morning. I guess he's lodged with some very bad people, rapists, druggies, thieves, etc. Our assistant manager ran in to his wife somewhere, and his wife said everytime he talks to the kids, the guards put him on suicide watch. :'( He loves his kids.
I got an idea for us to take up a collection to help him out. He never asked us to, but I think it's a good idea. I started it out with $10, and everybody on day shift put at least $5 in. Hopefully, he can use it for something. I know they can purchase some food, and calling cards. Hopefully, when he gets out he can get back to normal.
Lets hope he has learned his lesson and won't get into the same situation again. Its good that they are keeping an eye on him at the jail I know you were concerned about it.
I think its great that people at work is chipping in to help.
My work is wicked busy and highly stressful about now. Normally it's manageable to the point that I can pretty much handle it w/out freaking out, but lately it just seems that they systems aren't working and when they are, I get pulled for a special project or conference call and then there's the everything I touch turns to ____________ syndrome. It'll get better though and so far, no one at work has gone to jail.
Dex, I hope that Travis uses this experience to get himself together.
Today, I got such a shock at work I almost fell over dead!!!! :spooked: :spooked: :spooked: This coming Sunday is Mother's Day, it's our busiest day of the year at KFC.I went to look at the schedule to see what my shift was.I said to my coworker Joe... "Well, Sunday is Mother's Day and I wonder what hours I work?" Joe says 'you have Sunday off." I said "ha ha, yeah right" He says "Isn't Sunday your anniversary?" I said "yeah". Then I looked at the schedule, and I am off. Nobody... and I mean nobody ever gets Mother's Day off, it does not happen. :spooked: I asked my boss why she scheduled me off, and she said "I don't need you on Sunday" I said "wow thanks Karen." WTF... was that?? :spooked: I kind of wonder if it's because, it looks like I'm not going to get the week in June off that I asked for. To be quite truthful, I was really shocked speechless. I think she knew it was my 18th anniversary. I bet she caught a lot of crap over it from my coworkers. :spooked: Now, everybody will hate me worse than they do already LMAO!!!! Sometimes, she does something nice like that, and it feels weird. I just can't believe it. Maybe, my hard work actually is being recognized. Now, Hubby and I can have the whole day together!!!! :sofa: :sofa:
Great news Dexter. Happy anniversary early. Hope you have a great day....(don't answer the phone)
My AP (who will hopefully get my principal's position when he retires) was in a meeting with myself and another teammate of mine along with some other various staff. Without getting into too many details, my grade level has come up with a way for year round to have the whole grade level teaching the same thing at the same time. This is quite difficult but we are very excited about it. My AP was excited about it too, until this meeting this week and then she poo poo'd it. My teammate and I were under the impression that we needed to scrap it and just keep doing what we've been doing. We talked to our grade level TODAY and we all decided to not make a decision about it just yet.
THEN, four of my grade level including the teammate from the original meeting were interviewing a potential newbie for our team with our AP. The AP couldn't say how wonderful our new plan for math was and she was very excited about it! WTF? I'm just glad that someone else was at the first meeting so these people wouldn't think I exaggerate when I talk to the AP. She does this crap to me all the time. Ugh!
PS - the reason I want her as the principal is because I already know what I'm going to get!!

I hope she becomes the principal too. It is always best when you can work with somebody you can get along and work well with. And IMO I would rather have a woman boss. I don't do well with a man as my boss. I only did it once, and hated the guy. I only worked under him for a month, and quit. I guess I'm gender biased when it comes to having a boss LOL!!!
Work still sucks today, but the weekend is coming.

I still can't believe I've got Mother's Day off. This morning I thanked my boss again. She grinned at me and said "just don't expect it every year" and we both LOAO!!! I'm going to make and decorate a cake for us, to have on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to having the day off. It is insane at work on Mothers Day. We usually bring in about 7 grand that day alone. I look for it to be much less this year, due to the economy being bad. A 20 piece meal (20 pcs. of chicken, 6 pints of sides, and 10 bisquits) is $50. There's no way in hell, I'd ever pay that much for chicken.
Well, today was my first day back to work since having Mother's Day. I must say there was a considerable amount of contempt from my coworkers. I know people are mad ,because I got the day off. I did explain to them that I didn't request the day off though. Nobody said a word when I told them that. I'm not in the clique anyway, so it really doesn't matter. I don't go there to socialize, and make a fashion statement. It's my place of employment, I'm there to do a job, and get it done, and get the hell out. I probably sound horrible, and I do socialize to a limited extent, but I've learned it isn't a good thing to get too chummy with coworkers.
Based on what you've said about your boss and some of your coworkers I don't blame you. I try to avoid the gossip and drama at work too. I have a coworker who revealed too much personal info to the gossip brigade thinking they were her friends and/or thinking it would help her fit in and it costed her a promotion because all the gossip got back to upper mgt and as a result they found it difficult to take her seriously because she had revealed too much about her personal life at work. . . we're talkin' sorrid details here. lol

The gossip is rampent at my job. It's kind of crazy because everybody stabs each other in the back all the time. I'm a listener, and I never say anything bad about anybody. I never repeat anything that I'm told either. Gossiping can really turn a work environment into a 3 ring circus. It's not worth it. It's funny sometimes though, the people in the cliques are the ones that back stab each other LMAO!!!! :icon_twisted:

I remember those days. They make that rule in case they get a rush they can pull you off break. Jerks!
Most work places are starting to recognize the need for exercise, fresh air and just regrouping. If anyone needs it, then it's someone in a fast paced, quick changing, high demand position like yours.
There's stress involved w/my job and mental fatigue like you wouldn't believe. The walks at lunch are as much about regrouping as they are avoiding the gossipers. But honestly, I'm an outdoor type person. I appreciate my job, very much. It's a good job. However, sitting behind a desk all day is kinda torturous to someone that likes to be outside as much as I do. So, I need the walks. Someday, I'll take some pix and take you guys on a lunchtime walk w/me. If I walk at a fairly quick pace, I can get to the bay.

I still don't know if I get the week off in June I put in for. My boss has got vacation coming up, and everytime somebody takes vacation time, I end up doing more hours, and get stuck with 5 days of opening the store. I'm going to be pissed, if I have to cover everybody else, and not get the week I want off, off.

That's what I think too. I know she's scared I'll get pissed off and quit. They can't afford to lose me. The customers love me LOL!!! I pretty much carry the place, and I'm not bragging, just stating facts here. Nobody does a damn thing around there. Most of my coworkers stand around eating, talking to each other, and talking/texting on their cell phones all day. Here's Dex running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Nobody stocks, or cleans anything. In the mornings I have to stock the dinning room, and clean it. That stuff is SUPPOSE to be done by the closer. I always end up picking up the slack. I've already decided if I don't get my vacation, I'm going to be late for work everyday during that week. LMAO!!! :icon_twisted: I know... I'm terrible.... but 2 weeks a year is the only time I get to see very much of Hubby. We look forward to spending those 2 weeks together.
You could decide all of a sudden not to pick up the slack and see what happens. I realize you have the customers to think of but if you just start leaving a little bit off here and there that should have been done by the night crew maybe she'll get the hint that you ain't gonna work yourself to like a slave any longer while the others just stand around. ;D

I've been doing that to an extent recently. I think my boss realizes it too. I just wish the management wasn't soooo dependent on me. They expect a lot out of me. The kids get away with a lot of crap. If I have a bad day, my coworkers get pissed, because Dex isn't EVER suppose to be in a bad mood. Somedays, I just can't muster being the jolly jackass, I am most of the time. Sometimes, I think people liken me to Wonder Woman, or some such super hero LOL!!! Good God.... it never ends.

I'll be opening with our AM, and she helps A LOT in the mornings. Last week, I opened 4 days, and 3 of them were with my boss. Needless to say, I worked my ever lovin' ass off last week. So, yeah I'm very glad she's gone. Tomorrow, I only work 11 to 2. I love those 3 hour shifts. The whole week was a fricken disaster!!! I ended up opening 4 days. One of our shift managers had a medical emergency in her family. Then on Wednesday we had a boil order in place, so we had to boil water to make everything. And we had to serve bottled pop. We only had 3 kinds so people were pissy about that. Thursday, the shift manager I referred to earlier, left the store at 10:30, and I was the only one there besides the cook, when we opened at 11:00. I had customers lined out the door, and no way to pack orders, because we're not suppose to leave the counter ,when we have people waiting. I ran out of ones$ and luckily my coworker Joe got there, because it was pandemonium. The shift manager didn't get back until almost 11:30. I was soooo pissed, I wanted to throttle her really bad. I made sure to tell the AM the next day. Then I found out she did the same thing that same night, to the night shift. :spooked: I was soooo glad when Friday came, that I coulda done a pantless cartwheel.

Today, my boss had to eat some serious crow LMAO!!!! Yesterday, our AM told us that we're getting rid of one of our biggest selling products. (I can't tell what it is, but it's a shocker). :spooked: She had gotten an e mail from the store owner about it. This morning when I mentioned it to my bitch.... er...um.... boss, she said there was no way we were getting rid of it, and basically called the AM a liar. Well, the bitch...er...um... boss found the e mail. So, she comes out and said "Oh, I guess we are getting rid of that." Before I had time to think, my mouth flew open, and I said in a VERY snotty tone..."Well Karen I guess it's time to eat some crow!!!" :spooked: LMAO!!!! The look on her face was priceless!!! :icon_twisted: She always has to be right, whether she is or not. So, it was a lot of fun watching her make a complete fool of herself.

She's a real smart Alec ,and a know it all.
People like that are real hard to take for sure.
I know! the nerve! :sneaky:
Sometimes, when my boss acts like that I just wanna throttle her. She is a total joke that's for sure. When she gets like that, we (the crew) roll our eyes, and make fun of her behind her back. I would hate it if my personality was soooo bad, that everybody pretty much hated me. She brings it on herself though. :-\
I just have to say this. So far it's the only thing I find wrong with my job. The customers. Dude....DO NOT pull out a $20 bill, pay for your one $1 beer and apologize you don't have enough to tip. THEN on the next round...buy 6 more $1 beers for the people at your table, none of which have, or will buy a round of $1 beers for the table....and then AGAIN not tip me. If you freaking can buy other people a beer, then you can afford to tip at least one dollar once through out the night. You want another beer? Walk your happy ass to the bar, and don't tip the bartender.

I always found the women to be the ones who didn't tip when I was a cocktail waitress years ago in a nightclub in Muncie. One of them even went so far as to take the tip her off of the table when they turned around to walk out. Wouldn't have been so bad but it was a table of 10 who were there all night and they had all chipped in for the tip because I seen them do it. I had remembered their drinks and made sure they were properly taken care of all night too....ggggggrrrrr
I busted my ass for the people who were tipping. Yeah, those other people got really slow service.
LOL there are some nights if I did that...no one would get any service. For instance, I worked 5 hours saturday...and made a whopping $15
Hell, even I get tips sometimes. It's almost always men that leave them.
16 gets tips too. She works for your competitor. Lee's Famous Recipe. She's come home with as much as $10. I find it interesting that people will tip the cashiers. :)
Okay I know I should be more sympathetic to the brand new teacher straight out of college, but I'm not. She does nothing but complain and when she is not complaining, she is having a melt down. I don't know what else to tell her than to show her what her objectives are and the resources available. Get it together! That is what they taught you in your methods classes!
Then today she was complaining about her really low hispanic kid. She even made the comment that he shouldn't be in her classroom. What? I hope she doesn't think that 1st year teachers get cherry classes because she is way off. Most of the time principals will give 1st years tough classes so they can weed out the bad ones.
From the sounds of it she should have chosen another profession.

Its similar to KFC only in Anderson its better. KFC here leaves a lot to be desired IMO. Theres one in a town about an hour drive from here thats good though. We don't go often of course but when we're going through there we usually eat at that one.
Today, this gal comes in,and I ask her if I can help her (like I do), and she says in a bitchy tone... "I'm here for the call in order" and I said 'OK... what did you order?" and she says "I called it in!!!" and I said "I didn't take your order, I don't know what you ordered" she says "I called it in!!!" By this time I was really struggling not to beat her to death. So, I said "I didn't take your order.... I don't know what to ring up!!!" After that was said, and probably by the tone of my voice, and the look on my face, she changed her tune real fast. After she left I went on a rant at my boss and coworkers.... this is what I said.... From now on if somebody takes a call in order, they're ringing the f**king thing up. I'm NOT doing it anymore!!!! If you take the order by phone, you better be ready to ring it up because, I'm not going to do it anymore!!! How the hell am I suppose to know what the f**k somebody orders, if I didn't take the damn order!!!" Needless to say everybody was pretty much speechless. I never raise my voice, or cuss around people, but today I had my fill.
Couldn't they take a name?
I have a feeling that my boss is getting ready to retire. She was eligible months ago but decided to stick it out for a while
Since then, upper management has changed and the person that's her boss is a super micro manager. She comes down and shifts around on people's desks and questions them, however she waits until our boss isn't around. She even called a meeting when our boss wasn't there to tell us everything our boss had told us in a previous meeting. She kept repeating herself, as if she didn't believe our boss had told us.
To add insult to injury, we have a mole in the office. I believe she was placed there to spy on us. She doesn't report to our (and her) boss, she goes directly to my supervisor's boss. They're undermining everything that our supervisor is trying to do. Most of my peers are all on the same page and are determined to make things right for our supervisor so that she doesn't have to take such hard hits for things which aren't her fault. Plus, the mole is a gossip and I think her main goal in life is to gossip as much as possible. I told my supervisor that I felt like saying to the mole (which we don't call her that in front of the boss), "are you going to be a part of the solution or the problem, because gossip is defeating moral and that's not helping at all" and she asked me why I haven't said that to her. At this point, I'm so mad, I'm afraid our working relationship will be damaged if I open my mouth.
I'm really kinda bummed. R is one of my all time favorite supervisors, because she's for the people who work for her and she's fair. If you ask me, that's why she's a target. I know other offices get behind in production, because I talk to people in other codes about workload, etc., but upper management couldn't care less about the employees, it's all about the bottom line.
Funny you should mention work place "moles". Sometimes, I think the people I work with think I'm a mole. If something bad goes down the management tries to keep me from hearing about it. I've often wondered if they think I talk to the district manager about our workplace. Of course.... I'm not and I don't. I'm pretty straightlaced, and devoted to the job. And I wonder if that could be why they think I'm a mole. Nobody gives a crap about how well the store does, except me. I figure if you're gonna do a job at least give it your all.
Dex, you'd have to see it to believe it. We overhear conversations that the loudmouth thinks she's whispering. R left early today to go to the wake of another coworker and close friend of her's that died of cancer this past week. As soon as she was gone, her supervisor was at the moles desk and they were tittering and whispering and clucking. I coulda smacked both of them. Instead, I e-mailed the lady next to me and said, "Do you hear that sucking noise" and she busted out laughing. They both scowled at us.
It's what we do to keep our moral up. We work hard. They're not trying to fix any production problem. I have NO idea what their true intent is.
BTW, I don't think caring about your job equates to being a mole. I care about my job. I couldn't do a job that I couldn't give 150% to. I could be a bagger at a grocery store and I'd be the happiest bagger there. That's the way I am. If not for my management, I'd do it for the customer. I used to do training sessions on customer service and no matter what...business boils down to the customer...IMO.

Don't you just hate that!!!! My boss talks loud enough behind our backs to other coworkers, that we know when she's talking about us!!! I would have died laughing over your e mail too. That was a good one.

At my job if somebody takes the job seriously they are considered 1. a spy for management 2. trying to work their way up, or 3. just plain crazy. I admit I'm number 3 just plain nuts. :dizzy2:
Well, it looks like my supervisor isn't going anywhere just yet. We were suspicious because she treated us all to breakfast this morning and she's treating us to the office "picnic" which is a fundraiser for the Christmas party. We were convinced she was setting us up to let us down.
I still don't care for the mole  but knowing that we have more time to make R shine makes us all happy.

If any of you Indiana folks have been reading the news lately, you will have seen the items about my company selling off one of it's properties in Greenfield, and considering selling another in Lafayette. Last night the CEO made a trip to our plantsite, to tell everyone how secure this site is, and how important it is to the company. That type of "news" usually is followed by some kind of doom and gloom announcement, but I hope not for my co-workers sake.
I had been trying to transfer to our Indy or Greenfield facility, so I could continue on with the company for a few more years and pad the nest egg. Or in my case, create a nest egg. But with the recent announcements about Greenfield and Lafayette, all the jobs will go to those who are re-allocated, and that won't leave a spot for me. Understand though, that this is OK with me. I don't want to take a spot, that someone else may actually need. I can retire anytime, so it looks as if I'll be making a change next year, if not sooner.
It could be worse, I could be like many others who cannot retire yet, and will be scrambling to find a spot in the company. Those folks have my sympathy.

It's really cool that you are concerned for other workers. The way the economy is right now, would make a person very nervous, to go ahead and retire. I hope it works out for you. They can't touch your retirement benefits can they? I hope not.
 OK..... I only get about 15 hours a week at my job. Today, when I looked at next week's schedule, I noticed my hours got cut. WTF.... It's barely worth me working there for 15 hours, and next week I only work 13 1/2 hours. It takes me 2 gallons of gas per day to drive back and forth. I only make $8.10 an hour. :spooked: Right now gas is $3.77 a gallon. How the hell do they think I can afford that? The problem is.... the management have been taking A LOT of unpaid time off, and their on salary. They have to make up the hours they miss. I'm always the first one to get cut. If they schedule me like that for the week after next, I'm gonna have a bitch session with my boss. I've had to do it before. It really pisses me off..... just because my husband makes good money, doesn't mean I don't need money. My checks go for food, and stuff for my animals. :smitten:

The pension money is in a trust that does very well, making money every year. Other benefits can, and have been altered over the years. Staying past 01-01-2010 will really alter my benefits, that is even scarier than retiring. At least by retiring, there will less of an increase in health insurance cost. It's really going to go up for those who stay. It may get to the point that employees may end up choosing to not take the insurance some day. It costs me 130/ month for the two of us, but it is expected to go to 600 to 800 / month in a few short years. I'm lucky I am in the "transition group" that will get a better deal than future retirees will.

It sounds like you have planned ahead. I think 600/800 a month is a drastic increase. :spooked: It sounds like they're purposely trying to discourage the workers from having insurance.

They told us, that the plan is to have future retirees carry more of the burden of health insurance. If I wait to long, the insurance could potentialy eat up my pension. The company is pushing for everyone to save more in the 401k to supplement retirement. That's well and fine for someone starting out, but us old farts don't have enough time left to save enough extra, and still live, before we'd like to retire.
They also said the recent changes were made to encourage folks to stay until age 65. They sure have a funny way of doing that, when the numbers encourage you to get out a little sooner, to prevent a complete disaster down the road. We (myself and a large number co-workers) look at this as a way to encourage us to leave ASAP, so they can fill the spots with lower paid workers.
No matter, me retiring and doing something different was one of our options to get moved east of Indy, so I'll just take it in stride. I'll find something to do that makes a motorcycle payment, then go ride by the plant and thumb my nose at those still working

Why do parents sign up for conferences and don't show up? If I were a dentist or a hair dresser, I would be able to charge a fee for not showing up. Maybe I could start that trend at my school.

Because the current crop of parents were never taught responsibility by their hippie parents, that's why.
I used to be the sec/treas of our bowling league at work. I saw time and again, many bowlers of this age group, not show up, not bother to call their team mates, and in general act like it wasn't a problem when it happened. They had no respect for their fellow bowlers and could/would not commit to anything. And his was something they wanted to do. I can only imagine how bad it is with something they did not volunteer for. You have my sympathy.

I agree, the world has gone to hell in a hand basket on the fasttrack. Nobody wants to do be responsible for anything. Nobody feels a moral obligation to do the right thing. Basically people can be quite rude. That's it in a nut shell.
The thing that irritates me the most is how I bend over backwards to accommodate their schedules. I don't have to be at work until 5:30 - 6:00, but I will if that is the only time they can come in. When I was in school, the parent sent a note home telling my parents what day and time they should be there for the conferences. It wasn't a "let me check my schedule" sort of thing.
I am happy to say that all 6 sets of parents showed up today.

 OK..... I gotta vent....
Today at work I waited on a lady that was maybe 50 years old. I don't know if she was crazy or on drugs, but this gal was messed up. The biggest problem was that she couldn't get a cognative thought going, to place her order. First she said she wanted this, then she wanted that ,and didn't want this. I exercised great patience with her while I was taking her order. Everything was fine or seemed to be.... my coworker Liz took her tray to the counter, and called her number. I didn't hear any comments, or exchanges between them. The lady comes back up to the counter, and wants a small cole slaw. So, I ring up the cole slaw (like I do) and she says "I think this place is rude." WTF.... so I said " You do?" "How's that?" What makes you think that we're rude?" She says "I just think it's a rude place" Her problem was she didn't want to have to pay for her cole slaw LMAO!!! I guess she told Liz she wouldn't be returning to this establishment. When people act like that we prefer they didn't return to this Establishment LMAO!!! I think she was on dope... she really acted like she was.
This isn't so much about my workplace, as it is where my office is located...
Our office is in the center of downtown San Diego. It's a beautiful city, but has it's fair share of problems w/homeless because of the climate and let's face it...most major cities have the same problem.
Anyway, I was in line to pay for my coffee and the lady behind me is talking to herself. She's having an animated conversation w/two invisible people with her. Of course I'm ignoring her, but kinda turned a bit so that I can keep the corner of my eye on her...just in case.
I saw her kinda hook a thumb in my direction and yells to one of her invisible friends, "THIS LADY RIGHT HERE SAYS THAT YOU'RE AN EFFIN' MORON!". LMAO! I looked up and a guy looked at me and I just smiled and shrugged. I hope he knows that I didn't say that about that woman's invisible friend. ;D
Maybe she was having a conference call on a Bluetooth? Those things make people look pretty goofy.
OK.... this morning I had 2 guys come in to the restaraunt at 10:30. We don't open until 11:00. I walked up to the counter, and told them "I'm sorry we don't open until 11" So, 1 guy says "What have you got that's ready?" I told him we didn't have anything ready, because we don't open until 11. OK.... we get customers all the time, that think we can pull food out of the air for them. For some reason some people think that they're soooooo special, we ought to serve them right now, even if we're not open. Those guys got rude,as have many others. The hours are posted on the door. We've had people that actually question us about when we open. This is how that typically goes.....
Me... "I'm sorry we don't open until 11"
Customer.... "Are you sure? The sign on the door says your open."
OMG.... the hours are posted ON THE DOOR!!!! Hell no... we don't know what time we open.... it's not like we WORK here!!!! For cryin' out loud. I need a new job, the older I get the less tolerance I have for ignorant crap like that.
Can you keep the doors locked and just let the employees in when they show up?
My new boss was just unbearable today. She really taxed my skills at being patient and professional.
I have a conference with the parents of the super smarty pants in my class. He has been told so many times just how smart he is that he has a chip on his shoulder. Obviously I'm not concerned about him academically, but I do have some social concerns. Thank God I scheduled them at 8 and have someone else coming in at 8:20!

We have o keep the door unlocked for deliveries. The back door has no outside handle on it. There is no way for anyone to come in through the back of the store. The door has an alarm system on it, and if it's opened when the alarm is activated, it makes a shrill noise that can be heard 3 states away. People think because the door is unlocked and the lights are on that the store is open. This is how that typically goes....

Me... "We receive deliveries through that door ,and the workers come in and out of that door."
Customer... 'Well... the lights are on."
Me.... " Well....we can't work in the dark." LMAO!!!
Most of the time the customers get very snotty, if they think we ought to be open when we're not. We've got big changes coming with one of our most popular products, and corporate has already decided that people are going to be sooo mad, that they're going to train all the employees, on how to deal with customers specifically for that problem. GOOD TIMES ahead.

If they know the change is going to be that unpopular then why are they changing it? That don't even make sense. Seems like a bad business move.
Do you think the Colonial would be happy w/KFC's product now? I watched a documentary on him and supposedly, back in the day, he'd personally do surprise visits to ensure the restaurants were doing things right.
Basically, the reason for the change is an attempt to save money. The rising cost of food, and the decline in sales, has them scrambling to cut expenses. Fast food has been hit hard by our economic slow down. Fast food is the first thing people cut when prices go up. Hell, we've had times when the gas prices shot up in town, and that alone causes a slow down at the restaurant. When the price of gas reaches $3.50 a gallon, we know it's gonna be slow. When gas was at $4.00 it was soooo slow it was scary. :spooked:
Sandy.... I'm sure the Colonel probably flipped over in his grave a long time ago LMAO!!!! :spooked:
We had KFC not too long ago. I wanted to try the grilled chicken, they had a special and I had a coupon. It was tasty. Lil' Mojo and I both enjoyed it.

I love the Tender Roast chicken, but we don't have it in our region anymore.
Wow Dex, I haven't read most of your post but I have read a lot of them. It sound like a "Little Peyton Place".
Everyone knows that I no longer work, but when I did, most of the things I hated about my job was the fight to help people in pain.
In my town they are trying to clean up drug abusers. That is all well and good and hospitals have to be on the alert for fakers, but what happens is that a person can be laying there with kidney stones .. screaming in pain or with a bone sticking out of there leg and a doc says. " you have have some thing for pain when we get the tests back.". which could take hours. I fought a lot about that.
But, the KFC has it all over E.R.
I would like to know if Kentucky Fried Chickens name was changed to KFC because it had something to do with how the chickens are raised. I have been reading a lot about that... Steroids and stuff.

I think it was changed to shorten the name. But they've gone back to Kentucky Fried Chicken. The bags and boxes all say Kentucky Fried Chicken. I'm not sure about steroid use. KFC corporation has no say one way or the other. They get they're chicken from contractors. KFC doesn't own any of the places it gets its chicken from. PETA tries to make people believe that they do, to further their smear campaign, and attack KFC. IMO... PETA is waaay too radical. They have stalked, harassed, and actually followed KFC upper management people home. They've even threatened worker's children!!!!! It's one thing to try to get an opinion across, but entirely another when it comes to people's safety. Those people are dangerous individuals. Another example of theire radicalism.... they actually went and purchased the cemetery plot next to Colonel Harlin Sander's grave, and put up a headstone that says KFC tortures animals. :spooked: Now... that is going waaaaaaay too far. Desecrating somebody's grave is completely insane. :spooked:
Yeah I agree, I love animals and I would do anything to help them except join PETA. They are way too extreme and like people against abortions, I think they could be dangerous.
Two wrongs can never make a right.
Any way more with the stories about where you work. It is better than TV.
There's always some sort of disaster here's one.... I wasn't there when this happened but have been told the story over and over....
One night a guy called the store to tell them he was missing a chicken breast out of his 20 pc. bucket. So, the manager told him to come back before 9:00, and he would replace it. The guy never came back. At 10:00 the girls were deboneing chicken, and a guy pounds on the drive thru window. They were afraid to open it so they went and got the manager. So, the manager goes to the window, and tells the man they're closed. The guy says he's the guy that called about the chicken breast. Well, they don't have it because, it's 10:00, and the store is closed. So this guy goes crazy, and says he's going home to get his gun, and he's going to kill everybody at KFC. He also states that he is going to be waiting for them, in the parking lot when they leave. :spooked: So, the manager calls the cops, and they come right away. They handcuff him, and put him in the car. Then they ask the manager if he wants to press charges? He tells them no... but the guy is NOT allowed anywhere on KFC property, and if he returns they will press charges. So, the cops brought the guy back to the window, and the manager told him "don't you ever come back here again, if you do we will press charges." They never had anymore problems with that guy again. I've got a million whacked- out customers stories.
:rotfl: too crazy
Here's a good one.....
One night in the drive thru a crazy lady screamed insults at the drive thru person, and refused to pull forward. My boss told her she needed to move out of the drive thru. The guy in line behind her got mad,and started laying on his truck horn, and started yelling at her to move. By this time cars were lined all around the building, and people were screaming and honking. The lady jumps out of her car, and runs up to the truck behind her, and starts banging on his window. He was too scared to roll it down LMAO!!! By this time my boss is in the drive thru, and telling her if she doesn't move she calling the cops. So, the lady tells her to go ahead. My boss has lost all patience by this time, and starts herding her into her car!!!! Get this..... at that point the lady bursts into tears, and screams that her father is in the hospital dying from cancer. :spooked: My boss tells her she's sorry that her father is dying of cancer, but it's no reason to be out of control, and rude to people. I think my boss handled that soooo well. She pretty much kept her cool about it. She actually apologized to my boss. The sad part of this story is... customers that were around the building didn't see what was going on, and 15 of them called the 800 number, and complained ,and my boss got reamed for it. A fast food restaurant is NOT the proper place to have a nervous breakdown. That is..... unless you work there.
That was such a sad story, but I guess you get to see it all and maybe get blamed for a lot of it. :(
That reminds me of a story I heard one time.
A man was sitting on a bus and his 3 kids were just going crazy and driving everyone else crazy. The father made no move to make the children behave. He just sat there. One person told him what a bad father he was because he was allowing his children to act like that. The man looked up, apologized and said that they were on their way home from the hospital and that his wife and the kids Mother had just died.
We never know what makes some people act the way they do. Of course there are just some rude and crazy people out there.
Man, that would have made me feel like 2 cents, if I'd been the one who said it. :-[
I'm gonna let my Zone friends in on the BIG secret....
On Sunday August 31st, KFC will no longer be selling Crispy Strips!!!! :spooked: Gasp!!!!!!! They are our most popular item. They are on the Snacker sandwiches, Twisters, and Toasted Wraps, as well as being sold by themselves. Now, they will be selling Original Strips!!! The customers are going to be really mad but, hopefully they'll try the Original Strips, and like them even better. I've tried them ,and they are delicious. They are marinated, and then breaded, and pressure fried like the Original Recipe chicken. They're bigger, plumper, and juicier than the Crispy Strips. I favor the Original chicken so I love these. :smitten: This thread may get hot over the next couple of weeks. I'm going to get assailed repeatedly at work because of the change. I have no say whatsoever about anything but, my coworkers and I have to face the onslaught of angry customers. I'm sure I'll be on this thread frequently to vent my frustration LMAO!!!
Maybe you will be surprised and people won't be too hard on you. I personally never understood being rude to an employee. They can only do what there job allows them to do. I am sure most will understand that you had nothing to do with what the company decides to serve. Anyway I am crossing my fingers.
Well, I'll find out Tuesday when I go back to work.
OK... I need some hours but geesh.....
Next week my boss will be on vacation. This would normally be cause for celebration. I looked at the schedule this morning, and she has me opening 5 days this week. That's 5 salad days. Normally, I work 4 days a week, 2 salad days, and 2 11-2 days. I usually get about 13 hours a week which isn't much at all really. In a way it's a good thing because, week after next I'm on vacation for 10 days. It's unpaid of course. That's about 23 hours. I will be dead by Friday. My back has been acting up pretty bad. I hope I'm not too tired to paint my kitchen while I'm on vacation. Hell, I've yet to pick out a color. :spooked:
Well, tomorrow my work week from hell starts. I'd rather chew my arm off than do 5 days of opening. Thank God next week I start my vacation. I'll be soooo ready for a day off, I'll probably take my pants off, and do a cartwheel in my driveway. :sofa:

One salad day down, and four more to go. Everybody, acts like total idiots when the boss is on vacation. Today, two of my fellow coworkers cranked up the radio, and starting dancing around, and singing at the tops of their voices. The day cook punched a bag of flour, and it went everywhere. When I left work they were playing cards in the back of the store. They get on my nerves soooo bad that I dread working with them.

Well, 2 salad days down, and 3 to go. Tomorrow is gonna suck a big one. Tomorrow after work, I get the enjoyment of standing in line for an hour at Walmart. I hope my back, and legs hold up through Friday. I've been hurting something awful. I also hate having to get up at 6:30 am, so I can be ready to leave for work at 9. I've resorted to drinking a cup of coffee in the mornings. Last night, I was soooo tired, that I took a 2 hour nap, then I couldn't sleep at bedtime. All of the heavy lifting at work really drains me. I've been a cranky crabass the past week. When I get exhausted I turn into... Super.... Biiiiitch. :super:

I hope I can control my temper the rest of the week. :spooked: When my boss is gone everybody just screws off. Today, a couple of my coworkers just about drove me nuts. They were wearin' on my last nerve. A place of employment is NOT the place to run around screaming, singing, jumping up and down, and shoving each other around. That is what happens when the boss is gone. I finally spoke up and told them they needed to settle down. At one point they were shoving each other around, and almost knocked our shift manager down!!! She wouldn't defend herself so I did!!! It's just a damn circus!!!! I've got 3 more days, and my vacation starts. Thank God!!!!!

It wouldn't do any good. One time a customer called the 800, and complain because one of the aforementioned workers, cussed in front of a lady, and her little girl. He got scolded for it. One time, the same guy was whipping a bastic bag around on the end of a plastic knife, and saying 'die die die you sucker" a guy at the counter laughed about it, and promptly called the 800 number. He got scolded again. One time, he walked up to the counter, and cocked his butt up in the air, and farted at a little old lady. :spooked: Luckily, she had a sense of humor. It truly is like working at a zoo.

It's a shame you couldn't make it sooner. The weather we have had for the past two weeks is the best I have seen in years!
There's still a good chance, though. We have been known to have great weather all the way up to early November. But then again, once of the worst snowstorms we ever had was on Veterans Day in 1987 with over a foot of snow.

:groan: That's all I need. I don't know if that will help our sagging sales or not. They raised the prices again last Thursday. The guy that owns our string of stores, has raised the prices, 4 times in the last 6 months. For a basic 2 pc white meat meal it's over $8. :spooked: The add a side, and up size your drink, for $1 is now $1.29. An 8 pc meal is $20. I don't know if that will help or not. On day shift we sell maybe 5 or 6 kids meals, unless it's a holiday.

I'm mostly hoping to catch some autumn foliage and crisp air.
Dex,
Tell the powers that be, that KFC is too damned high priced as it is. It always has been kinda pricey for what has typically been less expensive meat, but we the customer didn't mind paying a little more for something that tastes so good.
I had some KFC a while back, and it will be some time before I go back again. Prices are getting out of hand, when you can go to a sit down place, and get waited on for a few dollars more.
I know it's not your fault, but I have to tell someone.

The best thing you can do is call the 800 number and complain. That is the only time they take consideration about anything. If you complain at your local KFC it does absolutely NO good. Not to mention the fact that the cashier has NO control over anything. Us cashiers get the brunt of it for everything, and we have zero control over anything. I've been screamed at, cussed at, and had money thrown at me. A friend of mine had a guy that got sooooo pissed, because we were out of something, that he drew his hand back like he was gonna hit her, and slammed his car keys to the ground. What a moron!!!! If he would have done that to me, I would have went over that counter, and beat him into the ground. I've got an extremely bad temper. It takes me A LOT to lose it, but once I do it ain't good.
I did a house thats up for an award. Two months ago the builder and the president of the regional homebuilders association contacted me and asked for some information (pics, plans, description) to submit. I sent it all...with a note saying "if you need it digitally, let me know. if you need anything else, let me know."
Two weeks ago, having heard nothing other than "Got it, great, thanks!" I emailed both, making sure everything was hunky dory.
So today, two days before the deadline I get a call and they need a rendering and the builder has decided to have a professional photographer do a shoot, and can I be there to make sure he gets shots of significance. Um...no to both, because theres no way that can happen in two friggin days.
Does that mean that you miss out on the award because they planned poorly?

Today, our district manager remmed my boss for some reason. We all caught the brunt of whatever he reamed her about. I got singled out because I hadn't had time (we were extremely busy), to make out time tickets, for the stuff I pulled from the freezer. She made sure she got everybody's attention including the customers in the dining room, by using a very loud voice to bitch at me. This is how it went...
Karen.... "Dex... if we had a CER right now, at this very minute, would we pass, if they looked in the walk in?" You have no time tickets on anything."
Dex... "Well probably not" I've been soooo busy I haven't had time to get to it yet." "I haven't been able to get away from the counter."
Then it dropped... she moved on to ream the cook. I asked the AM if she was gonna be like that all day? The AM says" God I hope not, I have to work with her all day." We all know she was taking it out on us, because she got chewed out. Hopefully, I'll find out what it was all about tomorrow.

You're gonna have to weigh the pros and cons really careful on that one. I don't do well with change of any sort. I'm very set in my ways. That's why I've been at my crappy job for 5 years. I hate change!!!!
AW - I think when you weigh the pros and cons that you should also factor in room for advancement or if not that, is it in a different field that would provide you w/more or different experience which would make you more marketable later on? Is one a career versus just a job? Just a couple thoughts.
We have major drama at work. Two guys I work with (Kyle & Chase) were real good friends. Kyle sent dirty text messages to Chase's girlfriend. Chase was mad but, he let it slide. Last week, Kyle started a fight with Chase, and he sucker punched Chase twice at work. Needless to say Kyle got fired. Christmas Day Kyle's fiancee found out about the dirty text messages, from one of her friends. Now, everybody is on edge at work because, we're afraid he might come in, and do somethin' stupid, like shoot the place up. :spooked: He's nuts and we wouldn't be surprised if he did do somethin' like that. What a mess.
To anyone who has been followin' this thread..... Travis did 4 months in jail, and he is now workin' with us again. I was surprised my boss took him back. He is quite different than he was. The job I have now the highest you can go takes about 5 years.
The other job I was looking into I would be the Assistant of the main boss.
Both are career moves.
I don't really like the boss I have now because she's such an uhappy person and expects you to be nice to her but she's rarely nice to anyone else.
The other job, well a good friend of mine would be my boss. Some people say it might ruin our friendship if I work under her. The money is twice what I make now.

No wonder it's such a hard decision. That is a good point about it possibly ruining a friendship though. It could also cause dissension among the other employees since they might think she favors you over them. I do not envy you the choice you are faced with making.

I told her one day that I was sick of how she talks to me and it wasn't going to keep happening. She just stood there like OMG you got nerve bioootch. Then I said so if you want to go ahead and fire me that's fine but I'm going to report everything you've ever said or done on my way out. She said oh no no no I was just having a bad day. Sorry about that. I walked off.
I think we must all three work for the same woman. She has two moods nasty and angry. Everyone was standing around talking about what a nice holiday we had. She's the only one who not only complained about her holiday, but bad mouthed her family at length. She makes judgment calls based on zero knowledge and when it blows up, she throws people under the bus. In fact, she flat out lies about the things she has tasked us with and claims that we "just didn't do it". I've called her on it several times, but it doesn't matter and it makes me a target for every task that she doesn't know how to do. I don't think I've ever worked with anyone that I don't like working with as much as her. Ever. I could handle her ugly attitude if she were just fair and/or honest.

Ok let me bust it out for ya'll ok. She didn't even know her own brother was ill. Nobody in her family told her. Then they didn't tell her he was in the hospital. She found out from someone that knows her sister-in-law. She shows up at the hospital. The rest of the family has security run her off! So then he passes away like a month later. Somehow she got the info of his funeral. *Break for a second* Isn't it messed up how the fun is in funeral???
Anyhow she showed up to it and they had hired 2 policeman to stand guard. Why? They didn't want her there and those guards made her leave. Now what's up with that broad her own family would shun her so bad?

She pulls this crap telling us to do something then she doesn't know anything. We do it,then when her boss didn't want it done she claims she doesn't know why it was done. WTF???

None of us like her. When I first got there I felt bad for her 'cause everyone was so blah around her,but I quickly seen WHY they were p*ssy people.
Not everyone should be supervisors.
Not to brag, but in all seriousness managing our office could be similar to a coach of a pro sports team. She has an excellent staff. Even the new people are SO bright and have SO much ingenuity that even learning they are an asset. She doesn't see it, respect it or utilize it. She micromanages everything to the point that the problems we do have, are created by her. The time we waste is spent cleaning up a mess that she caused. If someone makes a mistake, they're an idiot. If she makes one she pouts and whines (if she can't find someone to blame it on) until we all feel the need to soothe her feelings by telling her that "everyone makes mistakes, it's no big deal".
I'm looking for another opportunity. I like my job, love my coworkers and I even love where I work, but I can't deal w/the emotional roller coaster created by this psycho.

You got her goat, didn't ya? LMAO!!!

Perhaps it's time to ban together and get rid of her? We've been talking about doing that ourselves.

Uh oh....... :-\
The PTA president's husband and I are in charge of the spaghetti dinner night at our school Jan. 30th. They are also parents in my classroom. I went to a meeting today and my understanding was the PTA was going to prep everything, they just didn't want to have to put it on and the teachers and staff would do that part. I thought that was my part - organizing who is working this thing. Nope! As Mr. first man sat on his ass at the meeting, I ran our portion and am basically running the whole show now.
I shouldn't complain too much. I'm the one that wanted to bring this back. I loved it when we used to do this several years ago and we made a ton of money. The PTA just got slack and didn't want to do it anymore.

Don't you just love it when somebody comes up with a big idea, and does nothing to follow through on it. I hate that.
Well, I only got 2 hours at work today. I'm sure I will be joining the unemployed before too long. Our area has the highest unemployment rate in Illinois. GOOD TIMES ahead!!!

I don't look to be a my job much longer. The guy that owns our stores told the management team today, that they won't be getting their six month raises anymore, because he's broke. Corporate made a mandatory remodel rule two years ago. All stores had to be remodeled by January of this year, or they would be closed. Well, the price to remodel the stores ate up all the profits, and with the slow down in business in the past year, there hasn't been a chance to recover. It doesn't look good.
Its kind of weird how things are in different places. A friend of mine works at a KFC here in Indiana and they are so busy she's been getting sometimes 55hrs a week in. It's about to wear her out.
Well, I got 2 1/2 hours today. I guess I should feel lucky? Instead of buying my lunch today, I bought 3 scratch off tickets at the gas station. I broke even on them. I usually don't do lotto, or scratch offs but, I figured... what the heck... you never know.
I used to work for a guy who would only but lottery tickets the day they came out and he always won. He had a theory that the winning tickets were always going to be on the first of the first rolls that came out so people would win and it would generate more sales.

Wow... I never thought of that. I wonder what day they come out here? I'll have to check into that. I might try playin' the numbers too.
He is one of those lucky stiffs that seem to know all the tricks. He never won real big, I think $500 was the most, but he managed to stay on the + side of the scale the way he did it.

If I won $500 on anything I'd probably have a stroke from excitement. :spooked: That would suck because I would probably be dead, and couldn't even spend it LMAO!!! ;D
Today, I only worked 1 1/2 hours. That type of shift isn't even worth the effort. Especially when it's as cold as it is. I guess my coworker Joe only got an hour yesterday. I'm gettin' a little tired of the shenanigans.
That hardly pays for your gas to go to work. Was 1.5 hours your scheduled shift? In Maryland, if you reported for your scheduled shift and they sent you home, they had to pay you for at a minimum 2 hours, although I don't know if that was before or after the employee started working.

Actually, I was scheduled for 3 hours. It use to be a law in Illinois that they had to keep you at least 2 hours. I don't argue too much because, I think the store is probably on its way out. I figure I'll ride it out,and go down with the ship. :titanic:
