Why in the world, are we not building more nuclear power plants?....

Why?

I believe that to be a good question Henry!

Illinois has a boat-load of them, and the cooling lakes provide excellent fishing opportunities as well. . . They provide efficient energy generation, etc.

I think 3 Mile Island scared us though. . .(as it should have).

Chernobyl scared us even more!

But ... how many people have been killed/injured in coal mining accidents? How many people have been killed/injured in nuclear plant accidents?

We're a bit more advanced than Russia in this area. . . at least we were. . .

Exactly. . .

It would/could create THOUSANDS of jobs and reduce or dependence on foreign fuels...also, it produces NO greenhouse gases...over the last forty years of this production in the Unidted States, not one single fatality has occurred as a result of the operation of a civilian nuclear power plant...

Why is it okay for us to support Iran to get it, but NOT here in the states?

What is the REAL reason why, many liberals do not want it?

Well, actually Indiana has a few but I only know of 1, Turtle Creek, Near T.H. and west of Indy. Actually, Illinois builds them as near to the high deman areas as safely possible.

I'm betting funding is the challenge in Indiana. . . They prolly want state subsidization of construction. . .

How about instead of just making up crap to blame on liberals, you actually learn something about the industry and its economics?  You might find that liberals aren't necessarily against nuclear power at all but that it isn't a simple or quick matter to actually build a nuclear plant.  And the next time you start screaming about socialism, expect me to tell you to shut your trap because nuclear power facilities are not economically viable without government funding.

I have NOT made up any crap......

and IF, we are going to spend our tax dollars to BOOST our economy, THIS would be much better than ANYTHING that I have read or heard that we are doing.....

I never said it was a 'quick or simple fix'....but we got to start somewhere.....it seems to me like the best solution out there.........along with allowing to drill on our own land...IF it is logical.

as far as you telling me to shut my trap..........makes me laugh very hard...and it is only Monday!!.. ;D

LMAO...dude, if it wasn't for the old biddies, you'd be the biggest perveyor of falsehoods on these forums.

Quote...and IF, we are going to spend our tax dollars to BOOST our economy, THIS would be much better than ANYTHING that I have read or heard that we are doing.....

I see...so you think you should be the one to decide when "socialism" is justified and when it's not?

QuoteI never said it was a 'quick or simple fix'....but we got to start somewhere.....it seems to me like the best solution out there.........along with allowing to drill on our own land...

And what makes you think we aren't doing that now?  How long do you think it takes to build a nuclear power plant and when do you think the last one in the U.S. came online?

QuoteIF it is logical.

Like I said, maybe you should learn something about it and decide whether or not you think it's logical before offering an opinion.  I know it's a novel idea to you...

Would you prefer, "shut your gash"?

Gash is fine... :)......but, you really do not have a clue to what you are talking about, about half the time.....and I will not waste more time trying to make you understand, you believe what YOU want to believe, and not listen to what I have to say, other than what YOU want to comprehend, ....you are in a world of your own, aren't you?.. ;)..but anybody who cannot correctly spell purveyor, really should not be trying to give out advice about falsehoods.....

It appears I was mistaken surrounding Turtle Creek being a nuclear generation site. They are hydro from what I can determine. . . I think Indiana only has one????
