In a nutshell, Newt says:

First dump a substancial amout of fuel from our reserves (1/3rd) into our market..to punish the speculators who gambled on rising prices....(he says oil would drop $50 per barrel tomorrow)...

Second...look for oil, in proven reserves......congress passed laws to keep us from touching it...and it's illegal to look for oil of the coast and alaska.....we need to pass the bill to open up these opportunties...

Third...maximize alternative fuels...........such as; garbage, water (allow science and technolgy do their thing)....also, go to nuclear power to offset energy costs now...

it is this kind of leadership, that will change the course of history, for the good.

has anybody noticed that the price of oil is dropping.................maybe, just maybe, this talk about opening up our own oil wells again, is convincing the market that they are just asking TOO much for their stock...........now, there is talk about gas being #3.50 by labor day......which drive home the point...........we need Washington, (democrats... ;) )to tell the world we WILL be independent from the rest of the world, when it comes to energy.......and the price will drop like a cement block...

Prices have been dropping here at the pumps. We're down to $4.19 from almost $5.

yep.  jack it up close to 5, than everyone is happy when it goes back close to 4.  but just about 16 months ago it was pretty well under 3 around here (the oc)

Sandy Eggo

That's true, bevis. I recall thinking "I'll be paying $5 next week", but that's about the time it started slowly dropping.

that's the traditional pattern.  then it will stay around 4, rising in the summer (when everyone drives), and dropping a little in the fall quite a while probably, at least until the economy turns a little

Henry Hawk

they just can't keep it where they want.........it is stock driven........and the bottom is going to fall out......because so far, it has be driven by fear and speculation................if WE can tell the world and the stock holders that Oil (and energy ) will no longer be a problem for us.........it will drop..........

you are right henry.  the price is NOT market driven.  and conveniently, because oil companies are multi-national corporations, they are legally bound to make the economic decision that is in the best interest of the corporation (that way the stockholders can still be great patriots, even though their companies are f-ing us).  and if it is possible to make record profits in a speculatory marketplace by manipulating the prices through collusion and underproduction and underrefining, they have to do it.

that's bull......Exxon is making a LOT of people rich right now.................now, I DO agree there is some collusion and some filthy trick being played....but the game is up........and i think it will drop.

but, i'm just a feathered bird, who spats his opinion on here...with nothing to lose or gain.  (and I hope i'm right....cause it makes sense in this bird brain of mine... )
