You all might remember last fall that I mentioned I was going to remodel my master bath.
Well, finally some progress has been made.
Here's the "before" pictures:

The plan is to remove the vinyl floor, replace it with travertine, tile halfway up the walls, to the height of that little wall between the tub and the shower. Add a real cabinet in that corner where the metal towel rack was, paint, change the towel bars and oter fixtures, change the light over the sinks, and if I dont run out of patience, money, or time first, add crown molding and some paneled trim work on those odd slopes over the tub and toilet areas.

So far, the original floor and baseboards are gone, and the backer for the tile is down.
Here's the "during":

That is a nice size bathroom!!!  I really like the look of travertine.  I would love to put it in my kitchen but I would never get its value out at resale time!

Its what I really wanted, but after pricing it, it was way out of the ballpark for what I thought I should spend on this house.
Then, a builder I know told me he had a few hundred square feet left over from a huge job...so I got it for like 2 bucks a square foot, and couldnt pass it up.

Good deal!!! Always good to know people who know people who can get you things...

Ooh...how exciting, Gryphon!!! Can't wait to see the "after" -- sounds like it's going to be really nice.

Ooc, have you picked out a color for the walls? How about a finish for the fixtures? And...what type of light fixture would you like to use over the mirror??

(We're preparing to do a bathroom renovation this summer and have been considering options!)

P.S. Looking at the photos of the current bathroom state, I really like the drawer pulls on the vanity...are they like a brushed bronze or black enamel?

Thanks Sunny!
The bathroom knobs...I dont know how to describe them. They are like a black chrome almost. They look like that black stone you see rings and necklaces made out of sometimes...hematite? I think thats what its called.
Because I dont want to have to change all the faucets, Im going to stick with nickel hardware...though my preference would have been oil rubbed bronze.
The walls will be a dark brown...if the white tile halfway up the walls happens. if not, Im not sure.

Thanks...I hope it comes out as well as I imagine it.

Sounds like a great plan.  I'm looking forward to the after photos as well.

Ahhh...okay! Hematite is cool...I was thinking they were a dark bronze...oil rubbed? I am not very well versed in these types of things, but I think that's the finish I like!

It already looks pretty 'spa-like'. Keep the photos coming as the project progresses, please!

I love watching stuff like this. There's a program on one channel where someone currently renting buys a house. The people who own that house buy a different house. Both buyers make changes to the houses and after a few months they bring the previous occupants back to the house to see the changes and see what they think.

It's fun because the people leaving the house, believe they've got it decorated perfectly and they rarely have anything positive to say when they come back and see the changes, but more often than not, the changes are good ones.

Anyway, off topic, but I can't wait to see the finished product

oh yes! I love that show...Moving Up? I think?
the host was on trading spaces?

I dont think I would want to return to one of my previous homes...
when I was in high school...my mom had the bright idea to take me back to my first house. What was a cozy starter home in the mid seventies had become  a real dump in the mid nineties.
When we left, I told mom "I didnt realize you all were so poor when you first got married"
she said, "We werent...but thats the exact same carpet that was in the house when we sold it, the same wallpaper in the kitchen....other than the furniture, nothing has changed!"
