So I was going to use this weekend to lay the tile...
When I did my last bathroom, I borrowed a tile saw from a friend, which was my plan again.
Well, his saw is too small for the 18 inch tiles I have. So I needed to rent one.
Which, I found, is quite expensive. ($70 bucks a day) I figured I'd need the saw for two days at least.

So, I can pay $140 to rent a saw and spend all weekend doing it. Or, I can pay someone $250 to just come in and lay it for me.

Not a hard decision.

oh yes! I love that show...Moving Up? I think?
the host was on trading spaces?

I dont think I would want to return to one of my previous homes...
when I was in high school...my mom had the bright idea to take me back to my first house. What was a cozy starter home in the mid seventies had become  a real dump in the mid nineties.
When we left, I told mom "I didnt realize you all were so poor when you first got married"
she said, "We werent...but thats the exact same carpet that was in the house when we sold it, the same wallpaper in the kitchen....other than the furniture, nothing has changed!"

Hey G -

If you ever shop HomeDepot online...now's the time to check out their LIGHTING!!! They have 20+ pages of lighting for prices up to 75% off.

I have no idea how long the special will be featured, but there are some gorgeous selections for a great price!!!

More progress this weekend.
I changed two things...one, Im not tiling on the walls because the accent tile I wanted was a lot thicker than the field tiles I wanted, and that would just look stupid. So, I put in much taller baseboards.
And, I cant find a real cabinet to stick in that corner--and to have one made is more than I think its worth, so Ill just find a nicer piece of furniture.

And its done!

(Well, crown molding will come later this month, and I have to find a new cabinet for the towels, but for the most part---its done!)

I love it! The accent walls are great! I've been thinking about painting my living room and it's kinda small, so I'm thinking of using accent walls to make it appear larger, but I'm not sure which combo will accomplish that.

Anyway, awesome bathroom!

Piya...I was a little surprised that the dark color made the bathroom feel bigger...I wouldnt be afraid to paint your living room whatever color you want.

And ME...YES! Im so glad to have it usable again...

Sunny

It looks AWESOME, gryphon! Please tell us the name of the wall color!?!? That's similar to the color we'd like to paint the exterior of our house.

The white towls & accessories make the bathroom look so crisp...spa-like!

And the baskets are a great addition, too!

Good job! Thanks for sharing photos.  :)

Thanks Sunny, the color is Sherwin Williams Hopsack.
They actually have a great product in their "Duration" line...believe it or not, that is ONE coat of paint. The Duration stuff is scrubbable but is not at all glossy...goes on smooth and covers really well.

What a warm color!!!

PIYA don't be afraid of choosing an accent color.  I did the navy blue and love it!!!  White trim helps though.
Take time to smell the roses.

Sunny

Hopsack, huh???

Will definitely check that out when it comes time to pick out the exterior color. We tried last summer & could never find a good shade, so husband gave it up for the time being.

We're trying to paint over the siding (it's aluminum!) as it's still in great condition...until it's financially feasible to be replaced with updated materials.  Everything came out a couple shades lighter when applied. (Yes, we have lovely little test patches on the back of the house...neighbors probably love us! LOL!)

Thanks for the info!!!
