 I was trimming our hedges / bushes since they have gotten out of control.

A bee stung me right on the eyebrow above my right eye. Fuckin' hurts and it brought my trimming activities to an abrupt halt as my eye is swelling. . .

Looks like someone dotted me in the eye!

If the insect didn't leave a stinger, it was a wasp.     Honey Bees always leave a stinger when they sting, dying later.     If a bee leaves a stinger scrape it off with a finger nail, credit card or a ruff piece of paper towel.  Don't not squeeze    the stinger sack, that causes all of the bee venom into the body.

I was a  :bee: bee keeper for years and I know that the faster you get the stinger out, the less swelling.  I have been stung many times and a lot of the time, all I had was a red spot.  I do love honey bees.  :bee:   :smitten:

I'm watchin' them.  :big grin:

And I got both stingers out. I was stung twice; the second time going unnoticed until my hand swelled up.  :roll eyes:

My grandfather kept bees throughout his life; once losing 40 hives to a forest fire that reached the field he was keeping them in.

I helped him many, many times go out and retrieve wild swarms; sorting through the mass of insects to find the queen and placing her into a new hive.

Nothing like fresh honey out of the comb. Nothing like it in this world!

A good friend of mine is a bee keeper.......and it is fascinating.  I have learned a great deal about honey bees.  They are incredible creatures.

That is so true about fresh honey. We buy it from a lady at a farmer's market who sells it and makes other things with the honey also. Lotion, lip balm,.soap.

Eating local honey with peanut butter every night is helping with my allergies. I did find out that the honey in the spring and the fall are different so when the fall things start I get the fall honey for that pollen. In the fall the honey is darker and tastes stronger because of the different pollen.

If you are eating pasteurized honey you are wasting your time on allergies.  You got to eat raw honey for that, honey that has not been heated is what you need.     You are right about colors of honey.  White clover honey is water clear and Sunflower honey is almost black and very strong.     But all of it tastes good,  :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee:
