This is not mine, but I thought I would pass it on....despite democrat or republican.......this is a problem we, Americans face.

Financial Statement of the United States of America:

    *U.S. Tax revenue:     $2,170,000,000,000
    *Federal budget:         $3,820,000,000,000
    *New debt:                 $1,650,000,000,000
    *National debt:          $16,571,000,000,000

    *Recent budget cuts:       $38,500,000,000

Now lets remove the 8 zero's and pretend it it a family household budget:

        *Family income:                                $21,700
        *Money the family spent:                $38,200
*New debt on the credit card:          $16,500
*Outstanding debt on credit cards:          $165,710
*Total budget cuts so far:                     $385

Just one way of putting things in perspective....

If I was as rich as you are, I'd probably worry about this as much as you do.     This debt is been around here since George W. Bush left office and probably will be here a little longer, as long as the Dumb Party (Republican) keep saying no.

In my opinion, the fact that the POTUS wants to raise our min wage to $9.00 per hour is an indicator that he does NOT understand economics and is a danger to our Nation.  Just how ignorant must ONE be to think that this move would somehow create jobs or improve our economy.

LMAO!  Yeah, the Harvard educated POTUS surrounded by advisors with decades of experience doesn't understand economics but some guy who can't correctly conjugate simple verbs does.  Aren't you the delusional one...

9 bucks an hour is what a LOT of the jobs out there today are offering for full time work. And they require a college education in order to qualify for them! (GTI - Anderson's "newest" employer in the automotive industry, pays their hourly employees 10 bucks an hour and it costs them 92 bucks a week for their healthcare insurance. So their gross take home pay comes to $7.70/hr BEFORE taxes).

That equates to $16,016/yr. Can you afford to feed, clothe, house, and care for a family of three at such a salary, AND pay student loans? I doubt it. . . At least not without some form of assistance.

So 9 bucks an hour still puts those earning minimum wages below the poverty level. Do you really think that's wrong? Something needs to be done about the fact that wages in this nation have plummeted over 30% in the last 10 years, and raising the minimum wage rate will help put pressure on those corporations taking advantage of the rampant unemployment to lower hourly rates and increase educational requirements.

All raising the minimum wage does is cause prices to rise which leaves a person in the same position they were in in the first place.  It also cuts the number of full time positions and puts a damper on hiring teens.

I didn't say it was smart ass.  Dems held the complete majority from 2007 until 2011 and only one house now.  Republicans held the majority in both houses from 2003 till 2005 so out of the past 10yrs the dems have had a majority in both houses for 4, 2007 thru 2011, and the majority of one house for 8, 2007 thru 2013.  Of course if you want to get real nit picky I suppose you could say only 7 since it is early in 2013 still.
