In the early 70's we was pumping nearly 10 million barrels a day....we are currently pumping less than 6 million per day...

Am I reading the chart wrong, it looks to me like even project production of oil in 2015 in the US is about 2,000 less than in 1970. It looks like combined production of US and Canada will reach the 1970 level with Canada's increased production. Tell me wher I am reading it wrong.

Nope, you are not reading it wrong. But you'll note that the combined production levels exceed 1970's production levels. And you'll also note historic highs surrounding pricing.

The US is exporting oil despite this supposed "tight" supply, (for the most part diesel); and why? Because they can make more money by doing so.

Humm. .. digging into the details one has to ask just why it is that those sectors that produced such high levels in the 70's cut back? Was it to create tight supplies to drive up pricing, or was it because the wells are going dry?

Ok, I thought you were discussing US production not the combined production of US and Canada. According to the chart production levels won't reach 1973 levels until 2014. No, I don't know why we are exporting oil, probably they can make more money exporting diesel than selling it here. Do other countries have a bigger demand for it, lower emissions standards maybe?

and I just pointed out to you that you was wrong..it is NOT at an all time high...it is still much, much lower than it was back in the early 70's...when US productions was up and prices were way down.
