Then your fanaticism about sports is clouding your judgement.

. . .

Far from it. I am about as disillusioned with professional sports as one can be; and the poster child for that is the NFL itself at present.

I said it, and unless you can see why I said it then we have nothing further to discuss on the subject do we. . .

My opinion is, this was an act of evil.....and the NFL is eager to use this guy to make a buck....there are some things in this life that are plain and simple....WRONG.  This is one of them.

Yes, some people do deserve a chance to prove themselves again.  Yes, SOME people can be rehabilitated, and change their ways after being shown how wrong they were...without a doubt.....

I do not disagree that Vick's admitted cruelty and indifference toward the suffering of an animal was wrong, and punishable by law. In fact he paid his ascribed penalty. . .

Surrounding your insinuations regarding the NFL, I have seen similar treatments, (short of killing), perpetrated upon human beings by card carrying members of the NBA who remain active and playing; so where is your anger and frustration with those individuals and that league? I'd speculate that an overwhelming percentage of the players in that league are convicted felons; at minimum they are acting like it and are just an arrest and conviction from it.

I also believe that this country is full of corporations that do their level best to ensure that those convicted of felonies are oppressed and discriminated against for the rest of their lives, (Illegally I might add), and that this nation's insistence upon calling its PRISON systems "correctional institutions" or "departments of correction" is nothing more than political correctness and window dressings that were mandated by the religious influential sectors of this country. And as with them the hypocrisy comes shining right through like a booger on a plate.

And as much as it sickens me to argue on the side of the NFL or in defense of them in any way, I remind you that it was NOT the league who gave him a job; they just made the decision to allow him to be eligible to play. It was up to the owners of the teams as to whether he would be given a second chance to play; and all of them declined except for the Eagles.

Ironically, while Vick was serving his time he was counseled extensively by Tony Dungy and Andy Reid, and to Tony's credit he did so because he, unlike many of the majority of religious leadership, not only talks the talk, but he walks it each and every day. And you'll note also that I am actually speaking highly favorably of a man who is publicly religious, not because I necessarily agree with everything he says or does, but because he lives his life publicly and privately within those convictions he believes in and consistently does so. That I have to admire and without question.

Reid and Dungy went to bat for Vick with the Eagles organization and because they did so he obtained a second chance to do what he knows and loves. Reid had his own personal drivers for demonstrating some compassion and trust in another human being, despite the atrocities that human being was convicted of  committing. I admire him for that as well.

Is Vick truly rehabilitated and willing to live out the rest of his life in the consistent and law abiding manner that is expected of him? Time will tell, but at least two good men stood up for him and extended a hand-up to him at no small personal risk to themselves and their reputations; and to this point Vick has shown the world that the trust those men and the Eagles organization have extended to him was not misspent or wasted, and he continues to demonstrate that he has learned his hard earned lesson surrounding his crimes.

I choose to emulate the actions of Dungy and Reid and trust that Vick has been rehabilitated and fully intends to never repeat the mistakes of his past. Until he proves otherwise, I will continue to support his continuing successes and hope that corporate America will also learn a lesson in it as well. That people can and do make mistakes in their lives, and people can and do learn from those mistakes. And with a little trust and support, they can become far better persons because of the lessons of those mistakes.

No, I don't believe that anyone so callous that he can hold a dog's head under water in a 5-gallon bucket until it drowns can be rehabilitated.

I am not a Christian and no, there is no forgiveness in my heart for scum like this.  I would have zero compunction about putting a bullet into Vick's head (which would be a whole lot quicker and more merciful than what he did to those dogs).

I love dogs very much myself, and for the record I hated Vick as a player before he ever got caught and convicted for his crimes. He was arrogant, ill-mannered, and obviously had no respect for himself, his fellow man, or dogs. I was horrified by his actions when the details came to light, and to say I was angry would be an understatement. His sentence was greeted by personal celebration by this writer, and I felt no compassion for the man who was sent to jail. And I own the very breed of dog he was convicted of the commission of atrocities against, and I know first hand how loyal, intelligent, and loving the breed is when properly trained and treated.

Subsequent to his release, everything I have seen, heard, and read from him supports the view that he is a changed man, and even his arrogance has subsided. From my view he has earned the opportunity to prove himself, and until he screws up again I am willing to forgive his transgressions against the canine species. BUT, if he backslides there will be no quarter extended from my perspective.

He continues to go above and beyond those requirements imposed upon him surrounding community service post-release, and has become a huge supporter and advocate for animals via his work and partnership with the Humane Society ( part of his CS sentence); footing the bills for his transportation, etc. out of his own pocket when appearing at HS events for speaking engagements and marketing spots.

I dare say that in 2012, when his ban surrounding ownership of any dog is lifted, some very lucky dog, or dogs, will find themselves an exemplary master in Vick. I truly believe that he personally feels he has some major personal penance to pay toward the canine world, and I expect that he will do so for the rest of his life.

If I am wrong, then I will eat the crap most of you will shovel my way willingly. But I do not believe I am wrong, nor are Dungy and Reid. . .

I don't give a shit about the NBA....where did I confuse you on this issue? we are talking about Vick and the NFL.

I know and fully understand your view on the death penalty, and I know that you are more Christian like than I am, regarding this issue with Vick.  I understand Exterminators point of view also, though I am not quite as militant.  The only reason I have an ounce of respect for Vick now IS because of Dungy and Reid.  I have tremendous respect for Dungy, but I also believe that Vick is a very EVIL person, because it would take a very EVIL person to do the things that he did.  I also think that he may very well be capable of bull#$@#$@ his way back into the NFL.  I'm sure a person like Vick is not beyond lying and doing what it takes to get back to the glorious lifestyle the he, ( and he only) crapped away.

I think Vick is an EVIL person, and it is MY opinion and wish that he would have never gotten the opportunity to "play" a game and make millions of dollars.....he had his chance, now let some young "good" kid get his chance to perform in the NFL.....THAT is MY opinion.

Troll, you can kiss my "Christian" ARSE too....that may not go over very well with my Pastor, but I am who I am, and I don't pretend to be anyone else......and just for the record Troll, I really don't think you are the sharpest knife in the drawer either, especially when is comes to politics....WOW!...the boat left dock several years ago....

There is no confusion on the issue. I used the NBA to elicit the fact that your hatred toward Vick is purely personal and truly not rooted in an intense disagreement with his actions in so much as it is in the fact that you hate him and the POTUS too.

Your cynicism is now clearly showing. . . and it is very disheartening to see.

Time will tell if your cynical perspective surrounding Vick is truthful or not, and I for one remain hopeful surrounding Vicks rehabilitation.

You want to talk about criminals in the NFL? Try these for starters :

Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis and the former Carolina wide receiver Rae Carruth accused of murder - still playing (lewis)

Marvin Harrison possibly involved in shooting - retired

Jets Matt O'Dwyer and Jumbo Elliott - Bar Fight (Elliott retired, O'Dwyer played for the New York Jets (1995-1998), the Cincinnati Bengals (1999-2003), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2004).[

Denard Walker, a starting cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, guilty to assault on the mother of his son. Still playing for Oakland

Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants shot himself accidentally with an unregistered handgun in a night club - Jailed

Each of the above were involved in off field acts of violence against human beings, ( some including murder), and they are playing, played on, or retired for the most part. So somehow your rantings about Vicks atrocities and the NFL's decision surrounding allowing him to retain eligibility rings kind of hollow; especially considering you have never voiced anything similar when the actions of the accused concerned human beings. . .

And the NBA is by far worse surrounding off court acts violence toward others. (FYI)

Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis and the former Carolina wide receiver Rae Carruth accused of murder - still playing (lewis) Accused not convicted

Marvin Harrison possibly involved in shooting - retired  Not definitely involved and he's retired

Jets Matt O'Dwyer and Jumbo Elliott - Bar Fight (Elliott retired, O'Dwyer played for the New York Jets (1995-1998), the Cincinnati Bengals (1999-2003), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2004).[  Wow a bar fight really a good comparison there.

Denard Walker, a starting cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, guilty to assault on the mother of his son. Still playing for Oakland  I have nothing to say on this one because I have no use for a man who hits a woman but still no comparison to what Vic did.

Plaxico Burress of the New York Giants shot himself accidentally with an unregistered handgun in a night club - Jailed  Still not the same.

How about someone who hunts deer with a bow.  You know how many gut shots there are or how long a deer take to bleed out when shot by a four blade razor sharp arrow goes through it.  Or about the people to kill the chickens, beef, pork we eat.

But for thousand of years men have fought their game cocks, their dogs fighting bulls for the sport of it.  He paid dearly for it.  So why don't you get a life and forget about it.  I wouldn't be about him being black would it?  It over and you can't do a damn thing about it.  Bleed out.
