What frustrates me the most is that had my dog killed or severely injured their dog, the authorities would demand my dog be put down. . .

Wow!! THAT is a very frustrating story PH...it makes you want to severly injure your neigbor and have the authorities put them down...I would let them know what happened and your displeasure, that you even had to deal with this.

Out of curiosity, what type of dog is the other dog? Was it being aggressive or just overly friendly? It's a good thing that yours is so well trained.

It's a mutt, but a large dog; young, hyper, and undisciplined. It is left outside for hours on end, yapping at everything that moves. It is probably around 1 year old or so and the owners do NO kind of training or work with it.

It obviously wants to play, but my lil puppy interpreted its headlong rush and yapping as an act of aggression and reacted accordingly.

It was frustrating in that both dogs have the same name and reacted to my commands differently. Evil dog wanted to jump up on me and my lil puppy was protecting me from a threat. . .

That is such a shame. I caught that they have the same name, but didn't consider the dilemma it would cause when you tried to get either/both of them to listen. Wow.

I feel sorry for the dog. Dogs only want to please, so unless an animal has a complete screw loose, most are easy enough to train w/the basics. it just takes consistency and a little time. Like children, time invested is well worth it. Plus, I don't get why some people become pet owners to begin with. They get these animals and then spend NO time with them. What's the point?

It does indeed suck, because I really think that dog could be a fairly decent animal with a little work. It listened to my wife for the most part, once she grabbed its collar. . .

Okay, so CNN is doing this "special" wherein they are sending a reporter below the surface of the water in the Gulf of Mexico, to report on what she sees. 48 miles from the site of the oil spill, they are encountering great plumes of "particles" tat are a mixture of oil, dispersant, and dead organisms. . .

Her guide is an individual that dives these waters regularly and he says that the waters are normally crystal clear. . .

75% of the coral in the area is dead.

All of the shrimp - Dead!

All of the oysters - Dead!

The plankton - Dead!

The fish are eating the plankton, the dispersant, the oil, and digesting it - moving the poison further up the food chain. The larger fish are eating these fish. . .

Humanity will not be able to consume anything from the entire Gulf of Mexico for decades to come!

Any oil that puts a coat of oil over a fish's gills will stop the transfer of oxygen to the fish and the fish will die of suffocation.  The same for birds eggs.  If the eggs are covered with oil the transfer of oxygen to the young bird will be stopped and the bird will die of suffocation

Some years ago, I can remember where, there was an over population of sea gulls.  The government naturalist took small sprayers and sprayed the gull eggs with light oil.  The eggs failed to hatch.

And to think BP lied to everybody, on everything and the government regulators partying on BP's money "over looked" these lies and they and BP destroyed the Gulf of Mexico.  And the Republicans apologized to BP and doesn't want BP punished for this crime.

Is the Republican Party in the pockets of BIG OIL?

SHOW me WHERE the Republican Party doesn't want BP to be responsible?.....for me, I just want this thing stopped and cleaned up....there are PLENTY of guilty people, NOT JUST BP.....I think the buck stops with BP, and I don't think they are doing enough to avert much of what is being done, and when this is all said and done, maybe there SHOULD be some criminal punishments to be brought forth....but it is arrogant to say that congress (both parties) didn't do it's part in making sure we HAD a disaster plan in place and we didn't have better laws in place for this to get in the shape that it could allow this to happen in the first place....but that is all 20/20 hindsite....Washington should have stepped up from the onset...NOT just blaming one person or party.....THIS is a lesson learned that we will pay for for decades to come.

Proof, I seen it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears.  Senator Joe Barton, John Boner and just this last week Senate Candidate from Nevada Sharron Angle said, Obama was shaking down BP and the the $20 billion (not enough to cover a nat's ass) fund for the people of the Gulf was a SLUSH FUND.

I can remember when this first started, you post me that you thought I was being too hard on BP and you might have to "come to the defense of BP"  You do remember that, don't you?  I would hate to have to go back and find that post.  But you said it.

I'm not saying that they are not responsible, I'm saying that instead of attacking them at the time, we needed to fix the problem and offer ALL assistance to them, there will be plenty of time even the score AFTER this is done....AND, there are blood on Congress's hands TOO....I think a lot of people suck right now, Hayword is leading the pack too, but I won't even go into all the others who contributed to this mess.....

. . ., we needed to fix the problem and offer ALL assistance to them, ...

We've been down this path before and despite your denial that it is so, the fact remains this was done in spades. . . Additionally, there is the point that BP ET AL are the experts in the field and despite this they still have not stopped it. And they have had every single experts input from the onset; some brought in by BP itself and others brought in by the government. (That comes from BP itself).

The fix for any problem is to correct the root cause(s), and there is no denying that BP's corporate culture of "cheap and shortcuts" is the root cause for the incident. While there are other entities that will share some blame in creating an environment of rubber stamping the process or utilizing a lethargic approach toward the industry and their responsibilities, there is no denying that had BP exercised global, environmental, and human responsibility and due diligence in its business regimen, this would never have happened in the first place.

No one, including BP and the government (states and federal), was prepared for an environmental disaster such as this despite the reality that it could have happened, and had happened 30 years before within the very same areas. THAT is but one of the harsh realities in all of this. Americas approach to business is just as greedy and profit centered as that of BP, and that very culture holds its own measure of responsibility for this. While in this particular incident we have a somewhat visual and measurable impact zone, similar incidents have been happening across this nation for decades that have cost the nation untold billions of dollars due to loss of jobs and income to millions of families; but the national culture of greed blinds "us" to this cancer that is killing us.

Just the fact that one of our elected representatives in congress dared to "apologize" to BP for our governments insistence that they ensure the livelihoods of the millions of families negatively impacted by their greed, is a marked indication of the level of corruption achieved by corporations within our government over the last few decades; and a sad testimonial to the loss of power within a government that is supposed to be "by and for the people". Even our judiciary branch is now infected by this pox upon our nation, as is evident by their decision to grant constitutional rights to corporations.

Indeed, the disease has become so prevalent that even a portion of the "victims" have now taken up the standard for the very enemy that is killing them; corporations. With the political cries of "drill baby, drill", and the governmental subsidization of private enterprise, (Example- sports stadiums built and paid for by citizens that are denied a voice in the process), corporations have steadily been prosecuting an assault upon individual, constitutional, rights for my entire life-time, and as of late the evidence of the spoils of their efforts have been unquestionably revealed within our government and judicial initiatives.

Corporations will be the death of this nation one day. I hope I am not around to see the reins turned over to them entirely!

I have said for years the the corporations are the most dangerous thing to our freedom and our way of life.  We have people who worship at the Golden Throne of the super rich and their corporations.  And these people will never be rich and never even get to see the rich they worship.  All they would get, if they did see them, was to kiss their rings and their asses.  They do it to their own peril.  Not too smart, I would say.

Just look what money can buy and who the corporations can buy.  The Supreme Court which gave corporation the same right as a living and breathing human being.  Even tho they are never imprisoned for criminal acts.  What is wrong with these ass kissing, ring kissing and bowing politicians.   Money, money and lots of it, under the table.  MONEY.
