When I was a younger lad, I dumped a bicycle going down a long asphalt hill, when I tried to wheelie it.  I felt the rear wheel wobble, and then I was on the road, rolling down it like a log.  I was skinned from head to toe, and when I got home, the old man gave me hell for such a stupid move.

Of course he couldn't say his piece and move on, he had to tell me over and over how stupid I was.  He suddenly shut up when Grandma reminded him of how he looked after he dumped his Cushman scooter in the gravel, at a similar age.  Never heard another peep out of him on that subject. I am happy she was there that day.

I've had several bouts of it from my early days astride the steel horse years and years ago. The memory of each is still fresh in my mind, and I have no desire what so ever to have it again. I have the scars to prove it too!
Road rash sucks!!!!  ;D

I had a middle-school track coach who tried to help me get over my fear of hurdles. To please her, I tried. Needless to say, it was an exercise in futility. My toe caught the hurdle and I went down. We didn't have asphalt. We practiced on a track that was dust and gravel. I had road rash from my chin to my knees. I didn't end up w/a scar, but that was my last track practice.
Man, I hate it when that happens.

One time my sister and I were riding our 10 speeds, and a boy pulled up next to my sister on his bike, and kicked her back tire, and caused her to wreck. She slid down the gravel on her back. My God that was horrible!!!  :spooked: My Mom put her in a warm bath, and dug the gravel outta her back. She screamed and cried. The next time we saw that guy we pounded the little SOB. Needless to say.... he never did that again.  I hate punks!!!!

Poison ivy sucks a big one.
Given a choice between that and poison oak I think I would go with the poison ivy though.  Of course I really don't want either one again.  I've had both and the poison oak takes longer to get rid of and itches worse and hurts much worse.

A friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver on New Years Day. Head on collision killed him instantly. The drunk survived.  :'(
