I meant "companies" and not agents themselves. Sorry for the one word confusion.

Who are you insured with now?  You might give Erie a try and see what they say if you haven't already.

No way I am caling my current carrier. If they won't cover me then I'll have two houses to try to get insurance for!

Unfortunately that is exactly what it is going to come down to. My wife and I are firm believers in honesty in all things; personal or professional I have always conducted myself in a 100% honest manner and intention. Sometimes this has presented me with further challenges due to the fact I naturally tend to "say it straight and get right to the bottom line", and do not sugar-coat things when I am trying to communicate a problem or issue. Folks do not like to hear the straight dope sometimes; they want the sugar coated version and want it communicated in a politically correct manner. (I can do that too, but it is not my natural style).

We are now 25 days from closing, and by the time it goes through underwriting and the plethura of additional regulatory requirements we may be cutting things very close.

It is a darned shame when you are forced by private policy to dishonesty. (I have much stronger language for this but it is not suitable for the delicate and sensitive dispositions of the politically correct society in which we now live).

Let's just say it involves a little pounding of a substance into a place it never naturally would go or exist.

Oh and by the way, our current provider under consideration did not ask. Don't ask / don't tell. But if they do in hindsight inquire. . . at this time the answer is going to be NO:'(

I find it disturbing that so many insurance companies are refusing to even quote or cover anyone that owns a dog "they" and the "media" have determined are "dangerous".

The insurance companies don't even ask if you own a firearm, and aren't firearms just as likely to drive a claim?

Doesn't the fact you own a dog serve as a deterrent to burglary? What are they saying, they want to pay burglary claims?!

Doesn't matter if you have had the animal neutered/spayed, professionally trained, etc. either. I know one woman that just went through this and several insurance companies denied her coverage based upon the fact she owns a miniature Doberman!

The media hypes the breed thing up. Pay attention. IF they post a story surrounding a dog that bites / injures / kills a human being that doesn't involve a pit bull, they bury it on page 5 or 6, or briefly speak to it at the tail end of the newscast. Suspiciously failing to mention the breed in several instances that I have read/seen.

However, if it involves a pit bull then it is front page or "top story" in the media; wherein they repeat the breed involved several times and then show pictures/film of the animal involved as well as the "victim".

I spoke at length to one of the agents and he stated that the "statistics" indicate that the breed has a high "incident level". Same for black labs. I asked him how the frequency of ownership / popularity is accounted for within these statistics and he stammered. If the popularity of a given breed increases, so will the "statistics". If Chihuahua's were as popular as a pit bull, would they refuse to cover owners of this breed?

Insurance companies are quickly climbing my list of dislikes.
Man, I better be careful if they find out about Pugsly. They might consider him armed and dangerous LOL!!!! Pugsly's biggest fault is he loves everybody. I'd go so far as to say, that if we ever got burgled, he'd help them load up our belongings, and carry them to the getaway car.  :spooked:  He's a good little guy, even the cats love him to pieces.

Problem with using any kind of spray is we have some praying mantis' in the tree too and we don't want to kill them.
Praying Mantises are my favorite insect.  Last year we had a bunch of them, but this year I've only seen 1. They really keep the other bugs at bay. I love them.  :smitten:

We haven't seen them this year but the trees are much bigger now, over 6ft tall, so they are probably hidden better.

Actually there is something going on . Everybody that I know, has said they've seen very few Praying Mantises this year. The area I live in has a large Mantis population. Something is not right.  :spooked: Did you know that they only live for 90 days, and then they die?? Their egg sack looks like a twig. Ancient Egyptians use to mummify Praying Mantises, and put them in the sarcophagus of the kings. It was considered to be good luck. I love to watch them. They really do keep the insect population down. Did you know there is a species of them, that is soo big it can devour a bird?  :spooked:
