I remember my grandpa chewed and the smell was awful even though grandma kept the spittoon emptied.  That is one nasty habit....

It's a filthy habit. I knew this nasty old guy that used to spit it in the cuffs of his pantlegs.  :spooked: Who the hell does crap like that? My Gawd!!!  :spooked: He was a mean old guy too. He was to cheap to get dental care for his wife, and if she got a bad tooth, he'd hold her down, and pull it out with pliers. He was evil. I got him good one time though. He lived next door to my best friend. One night it was just about dark, and me and a bunch of my friends were sitting on some steps at my friend's house that faced his house. We saw him walk out in the yard, and we all got real quiet. He didn't know we were there. I said to my friends "Watch this!!" I yelled at the top of my voice 'What the hell are ya doin?" He jumped about 3 feet off the ground ,and screamed LMAO!!! Then he yells over to us "You scared the crap outta me, I didn't know anybody was around. I almost had a heart attack!!!!'Then he started laughing, and of course my friends and I, could barely contain ourselves. We all laughed until we cried, and that incident was told over and over, to many people who hated that guy. What goes around comes around LOL!!!!

He sounds evil.  I can't imagine being married to something like that.  Do you ever wonder what happened to them?

He and his wife are both deceased now. He did other horrible things to her too. They had money, but they lived like they were dirt poor. I understand he use to beat the hell out of her. He also stitched her up several times, instead of taking her to the hospital. When he died  she was the happiest woman in the world. She joined local ladies clubs, and got out and about, with new friends she had made. I think she lived for maybe 10 years after he died. She died at home she was alone ,and somebody hadn't seen her for a few days, and went to check on her. It was kind of suspicious. They said she had a massive heart attack. Towns people that went to her house said there was a significant amount of blood. Don't know what ever came of it. I think LE closed it as a natural death.

She certainly deserved it. I think they were married for like 50 years or something. Back in the day, I guess he was a boxer. I can't imagine being with a man like that for that many years.

This thread hasn't been posted in  for a while but, I've got some interesting candy news. Does anybody remember the Tootsie Pop Drop candies? They were basically a Tootsie Pop sucker without the stick. Anywho.... they were big back in the 80's and 90's. Suddenly, they were gone.... they quit makin' them. I loved them and was heartbroken when they quit makin' them. Last Saturday, I was on line shoppin' for candy and low and behold I found some. Apparently , they re introduced them in Feb. 2008. I was absolutely thrilled (it doesn't take much for me) he he. I bought 2 big boxes of them, and ordered a box of the green 'Freshen Up'  gum. The gum with the squirt in the middle !!!! By the time I got to the checkout I'd spent $50 on candy!!! Who does crap like that? Why.... Dexter Morgan of course !!!

Anybody like Slopokes? I loved the when I was a kid and didn't have fillings. They were/are so sticky they pull the fillings right out of your teeth. Two years ago at Christmas our son and his wife sent us a big box of all kinds of old fashioned candy. I will see if I can find the web site for it. Clark bars were another favorite that were gone and have become available lately.

I would venture to guess they don't taste the same as they did then though.  I didn't eat Clark bars much but I loved Slo Pokes.

I think this is the web site that the candy came from that our son sent us. You can buy boxes of candy by decade. The box was packed with all different kinds of candy.

I thik the Clark bars tastes pretty much the same, but again the problem with dental work. Gettin' old is the pits!
