Well we made it through the worst of the tornadoes yesterday -- no casualties--thank God but quite a bit of damage.
Some poor lady ended up with a tree in her living room.
Today the high is 45 and we're supposed to get down to 29 for the low and then tomm it's supposed to be in the mid-60's...........

Nothing but flurries, a few hours above freezing, and more flurries over the next 5 days. . .

It's 7;46 pm and the temperature is a balmy 34*. It was beautiful here today. Bright and sunny, and most of the snow has melted.I hear that we're suppose to have a storm moving in this weekend, I've been soo busy, I haven't had time to watch the weather. I guess we'll wait and see.

I had crazy weather yesterday..finally something semi-exciting...and I forgot to post it here!

The radio stations and news programs were all predicting typical 60-mid 70's dry and sunny weather for us all week. No one said or heard anything to the contrary, w/exception to some guy in my elevator at work who said that he knew it was going to rain because an old break was hurting. I was polite, but internally rolled my eyes, because by all other accounts, the weather was going to be nice.

I can't see the outside from where I'm sitting at work. I do recall someone walking by at one point exclaiming "it's raining" and I kinda smiled and thought about the guy in the elevator and laughed at myself for being so cynical.

When it was my turn to leave, I noticed that it took a little more strength to open the lobby doors to the sidewalk. The second I stepped out, I realized why. Wind pushed me back and sorta whipped me around, I couldn't see a damn thing because my  hair had blown across my face. I could even feel my purse being tugged by the wind as if it was trying to blow it away. I momentarily lost my breath because the wind was so hard and cold. I started walking and realized at that point that it was raining too. I noticed it wasn't a typical light rain, but hard and icy. It felt like needles hitting my skin. Skin? Well, I didn't wear a jacket yesterday because it was so warm. I had on a light cotton blouse w/short sleeves and a knee length skirt. Thankfully it wasn't the flowy skirt that I love because it makes me feel so pretty and feminine, but picks way up in the wind...even so, it didn't provide any warmth. Still, I had to get home and I had no option but to walk to my car. Walk? Well, I'm cheap and I refuse to pay the high prices for parking. I normally park anywhere from 10 to 16 blocks from my office. I get a nice bit of exercise and save money too. Yesterday, the closest free parking I could find had been 16 blocks away.

After about 6 blocks, I took refuge in a covered sidewalk, where they're doing construction. I text'd a friend and thought maybe I'd wait it out. Then I decided against it. I was cold, soaked and tired. I might as well finish the walk. I did notice that other people looked just as battered as I did and probably just as surprised. By the time I got to my car, I felt like I had ran a marathon on ice. I was so cold that my hands were stiff and my legs and the top of my head felt numb. I crawled into the car, cranked the heat and headed out into traffic. Speaking of crawling...my typical ride home has thick patches of traffic in predictable spots near on/off ramps, but fairly a fairly smooth pace. I drive 15 miles before I change highways, another 3 or 4 before I change again, then it's a couple miles home. The 1st highway was crawling. It was packed and there was no changing lanes. People who entered on once side that needed to exit on a different highway on the other...was having a horrible time, but I think part of the problem was that several highways were closed.  I found out that the highway of my last leg of my commute was closed at the exit above mine. As a result, traffic was a parking lot where I normally exit to get to the second highway. I opted to jump completely off and take back road. That worked out great.

Everyone is talking about the freak storm yesterday. That's exactly what it was. It hit us suddenly, without warning and even the weather folks are completely stunned. We did have ice rain here yesterday, which never happens and roads were closed due to ice and accidents. The town next to mine had snow in the lowlands and lots of snow in the mountains. If you've noticed the pictures I've posted, we're surrounded by mountains which we drive through and over. It was a complete mess! But finally I have some interesting weather.

Today? Sunny and low 50's.
