I'm sure there IS some REAL difference between beleifs of Christians and Mormons...some MAJOR belief differences.  What is your point?  How does that make a real difference in how one votes any differently than an atheist?

How is it any more dangerous than illeterates casting a vote, or gang-bangers voting?  It's just the way it is.  We have been doing pretty good for the most part for nearly 236 years now.

Speaking of Mormons......

Democrat
Nevada   Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (C)(D-NV) Reid, a moderate Nevada Democrat, was elected by colleagues on Tuesday November 14th 2006  as U.S. Senate majority leader for the 110th Congress

First elected to the Senate in 1986.   He served as the Senate minority leader, replacing Senator Tom Daschle (D, SD) who lost his seat in a very close race to Congressman John Thune (R, SD).  "The biggest strength he has is that he always keeps his word," says Senator Patrick Leahy (D,VT).  "He's a straight shooter, smart and easy to work with," says Senate Republican whip Mitch McConnell.

Mormon and Democrat?  At the same time?   Yes it is possible and it will surprise LDS members to find out many popular Mormons were or are democrats.

Church President Heber J. Grant started out as an ardent Democrat.  Also among Democratic First Presidency counselors who have been Democrat Anthony R. Ivins, a passionate Democrat Charles W. Penrose, equally passionate; John Rex Winder; John Willard Young; Stephen L. Richards; Henry D. Moyle; Hugh B. Brown, another ardent Democrat; and his nephew, N. Eldon.  Apostles who have been Democrats are poet and historian Orson F. Whitney; Franklin D. Richards; Moses Thatcher; Abraham H. Cannon; Stephen L. Richards; Melvin J. Ballard; and Joseph F. Merrill.  Source an e-article by Todd Compton

That nutjob Glenn Beck is also a Mormon.   Don't forget about him.  I was listening to him a bit on the radio today and that guy is flat out nuts.  Either that or he deserves credit for figuring out how to successfully profit from lying his ass off, and exploiting the most stupid and vulnerable among us.

You're not too swift are you? I pointed that out when Harry, (a high ranking member of the Mormon Church), was asking the Golden Mitten to release his tax returns like his daddy did; setting the precedent.

There are real differences.  I would expect you of all people to know exactly what I'm talking about.  I've heard almost from the day I was born, from every Christian that I've ever known in my life, that Mormonism is a cult.  Never ever heard them referred to as Christians.

Because an atheist wouldn't say something like this.

It puzzles me to see some christians here that are repub so willing to sell out their faith to a Mormon cult. Mormons are not christians.I am a repub and will sit this election out, this is a lession the gop has to learn so next time they do not have a cultist as our candidate..........so I will wait till 2016 to get a honest christian candidate not a fake man, fake christian like Romney.

This kind of attitude is dangerous.  It's dangerous for the future of our country when we have people like this either in or out of the ballot box depending on their version of the Sky Daddy.  You, and I'm sure 'warren' too, would excoriate Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for his wacko beliefs based on religion, but you both hold to some equally wacky shit and it's just as dangerous.  People who think and vote like that are dangerous.

This republic is still an experiment.  236 years is hardly enough time to claim success on what we have going on in this country.  We have an enormous number of people who can recite all kinds of Bible stories and verses, tell you all about how everyone who doesn't agree with them is a cult, yet can't tell you anything factual about current events, politics, or world news.

Ignorance, en masse, is a far greater danger to the survival of this country than any bomb, foreign army, or terrorist could ever pose.  I know you won't agree with me on that, but I'm sure there are several members here who know exactly what I'm talking about.

And as far as 'warren' is concerned, he can sit this election out, and hopefully sit every one out that occurs between now and the time he takes a dirt nap.  We'll all be better off with the 'warrens' of the world out of the voting booth.

Well since you didn't offer one up, so far it certainly is better than yours.

Bill Nye the Science Guy thinks God sucks too.  ;D

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Scientist and children's television personality Bill Nye, in a newly released online video, panned biblical creationism and implored American parents who reject the scientific theory of evolution not to teach their beliefs to their youngsters.

"I say to the grownups, 'If you want to deny evolution and live in your world that's completely inconsistent with everything we've observed in the universe that's fine. But don't make your kids do it,'" said Nye, best known as host of the educational TV series "Bill Nye the Science Guy."
