Well if he's going to do what he wants anyway, what's the point in praying in the first place?

Bingo Ex!  They just don't get it.

Maybe it's kind of like the reason some people nag. They do it so other people will do what the naggers are asking -- just to get them to shut up!

A good friend of mine was in a terrible car accident on Wednesday evening.  She broke her neck, but fortunately isn't paralyzed.  She's now in a halo which she will have to wear for 3-4 months.  If the halo works, she should come out of this relatively unscathed.  If it doesn't, she'll have to have it fused via surgery after which she will not be able to turn her head for the rest of her life.

She posted this on her Facebook page:
Quote
broke my neck...thankful I'm not paralyzed

One of her other friends then replied in this manner:

Quote
y heart sank when i first heard...I had no info just a broken neck...God is good...

Really, God is good?  Where the hell was he in preventing this accident in the first place???

Another friend replied:

Quote
Broken Neck+Not Paralyzed=A touch from GOD!!! Like Kate said...even when He is silent, He is still there and He is still God...

Unfuggin' believable!  Although these people are well intentioned, why is ole' Gawd getting all of the credit for no paralysis, however no one is asking of him why he let her get into the accident in the first place???  Why can't the Xtians see how idiotic this appears to rational thinking people?

That's exactly what I tell the various gods who show up for my bi-weekly prayer breakfast: Don't expect credit for the good stuff if you won't accept blame for the bad stuff. They mostly don't listen. They just come for the food.

It would make more sense if you believed what I do.  But for some reason....so many don't want to believe it.  I can't go into it here.  LO has her 'group' watching me.  They are becoming suspicious of my intentions on planet earth here lately.  :spooked:
Looks like I've come full circle.

It's not my group, pari. I'm just leader of the RMMT. We're mostly support personnel.

That sounds like a cop out to me.  If indeed LO has a "group" it's because her remarks are well thought out, show logic, and intelligence. You have your believe, I have mine, and LO has hers.  Why must we continuously try to convince folks that "I'm right and you are wrong?"

Huh?  It's banter, try to keep up with LO's posts.

It's pretty simple, really; the devil broke her neck, but god kept her from being paralyzed.  Obviously, the devil was trying to make a statement in her life (teach god a lesson), but god protected her, just enough, that she didn't become paralyzed.  Why do we have to blame god for the bad stuff?

I do believe you may have hit the nail on the head.  The ole' debbil did the dastardly deed.   And ole' Gawd decided just to stop the paralysis and not prevent the ole' debbil from causing the accident to begin with.

BTW, I love that picture of Jeebus doing the Fukeneh!

My pleasure on the pic.  Yeah, the creator of the universe had to have been pretty goddamned bored to have dreamed up the debbil to fuk with people so "HE" could step in and save them with his holier than thou, super-hero fetish.  HeyZeus (no latino was harmed in the writing of this word) never flew, but he sure showed those romans.

EX, I suspect it is for the same reason you  as a child asked you parents for something, but you know the answer will be 'no'.   I'm also curious how do you know God is a He?
