I think God has a plan that is so advanced, we cannot understand it.
It is like that Butterfly effect theory that something as small as a butterfly flapping its wings can a hurricane half way around the world.
Just as the butterfly cannot understand that its wing flap has such repercussions, neither do we understand how Tammy Faye having cancer serves Gods ultimate plan.
It is like in JOB. Job does not know about God's talk with the Devil. Nor does he understand that his story will inspire others for posterity.
He just has t have faith that it serves a higher purpose.

Do you think the god of abraham and the bible, koran and torah is the god that has given us "the plan" you speak of (allude to, but cannot fanthom)?  The one we "can't understand"?  By the way; the butterfly flapping is from the TAO and much more acceptable than bible babble.

PLANT CITY, Florida (AP) -- A 9-year-old boy died after being run over by a church float in a Christmas parade.

Jordan Hayes was walking alongside the float, handing out beads and candy, when his foot was caught by a wheel and he fell under the float Friday night, said Police Chief Bill McDaniel.

Parade watchers shouted at the driver to back up, but the pickup truck pulling the Greater Heights Family Worship Center float ran over Jordan a second time. The driver is Jordan's cousin, authorities said.

Jordan, of Inverness, Florida, had been in Plant City visiting a brother.

"This is a tragedy that defies words," McDaniel said. "This was supposed to be a time of celebration and joy, but it has turned into a terrible tragedy."

A gunman opened fire Sunday in a training center for young Christian missionaries outside Denver, Colorado, killing two people and wounding two others, police said.

A gunman entered the dormitory in Arvada, Colorado, early Sunday.

The lone gunman walked into Youth with a Mission, began shooting and then ran away, according to a Susan Medina of the Arvada Police Department.

Peter Warren, the center's co-founder, said a man and a woman were killed. He said the woman was from Minnesota and the man was from Alaska. He did not provide their ages.

"These kids were like our kids, you know?" he told CNN affiliate KUSA. "It's just such a tragedy."

He said a memorial service for the two would likely be held Tuesday or Wednesday.

One person remained in critical condition, according to Peter Iliyn, the regional director for Youth With a Mission. He did not give information regarding the fourth person wounded in the attack.

The names of the victims were being withheld pending notification of family members, police said.

The gunman was described as a white male, about 20 years old, said Medina. He may be wearing glasses and a dark skull cap or beanie. He also may be sporting a beard or mustache, she said.

Police were using dogs in their search efforts and were hoping the fresh snow outside the building may help them track the suspect, Medina said.

It was unclear how many of those shot were staff members and students, Medina said.

Those not wounded were transported to an off-site location where police are interviewing them, she said.

About 45 people were in the building at the time of the shooting, she said.

The center is home to dozens of young people from all over the world who are training to be Christian missionaries, according to the center's Web site.

A "reverse 911" call went out to residents of the neighborhood to let them know a shooting suspect might be in the area, she said.

Medina urged residents to call police if they spot anything suspicious.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Sixteen students at Bob Jones University have or are suspected of having whooping cough, leading officials to end the fall semester about a week early, officials said.

The college ended its semester Friday and canceled several public events.

"Based on information from health officials we do not believe the illness will spread as our students go home to their families," university spokeswoman Carol Keirstead said.

The outbreak appears to have started when one infected student returned to campus this fall, Keirstead said. Twelve students are confirmed to have the bacterial infection, while another four cases are suspected, Keirstead said.

An additional 158 students were tested, isolated and given antibiotics, while 1,200 students who showed no symptoms were given antibiotics as a precaution, she said.

"Our response with antibiotic treatment, the vaccinations and the isolation represents very aggressive precautionary measures and we think that very much contributed to keeping the numbers as low as they are," Keirstead said.

The private Christian university will require all 4,200 of its students have a current whooping cough vaccination before they can return next semester. Already about 2,000 of them have received the immunization, officials said.

Whooping cough, also called pertussis, is a highly contagious bacterial infection that starts with a mild cough and low fever and later turns into a chronic cough, followed by a "whooping" sound when the person inhales, according to the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Why would they need medical treatment?  Aren't they lead through prayer, each and everyday?

I get a kick out of everyone bitching about God not doing this, or not doing that. Especially when they hate him, and don't want to see him to begin with.

If you are still clueless, grasp some concepts before you whine more. First this entire existence, our known universe is a popcorn fart in a whirlwind. It's here today and gone tomorrow in the whole scheme of things of eternity. Christ told us a big clue about it all. He asked a rhetorical question of which was more real, the things of this world which are toast in time or the things of spirit which are eternal. Duh, the things that are eternal are more real.

Keep that in mind. Then considered this is a fallen race, this isn't the garden of eden either. Consider also in the Lord's prayer that he prayed that the Father's will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. He was asking that it be so, wasn't saying that it is. That is a major clue as well, God's will isn't always done here. In fact, if you look at scriptures they speak of how this is Satan's playground where he roams about looking for whom he may devour.

Breaking news people, this is a war zone, we are a fallen race and we are in enemy territory, and its an enemy that would love to off all of us thus hindering prophesy of the enemies demise. We got help, but aren't we a bunch of retards that can't pour urine out of a boot with the instructions on the bottom?

Ok, where is the miracles? How about even Jesus had problems doing miracles due to the UNBELIEF of those from his home town? We got assloads of unbelief everywhere you turn. We don't have to count the naysayers, we have enough unbelief right in the ranks of Christians to short circuit the works. Listen to missionaries that get out in the wilds away from "civilization" and hear some of their accounts.

If you are still bitching about God's will being done, try doing it. I would advise starting real simple and see if you can manage to work your way up. Even the simple stuff can be difficult. You might discover along the way that he wants his will to be done through his people. Why? It's training in an environment that is realistic, a testing ground. What for? Well, as pointed out, there is an enemy that needs contended with and another God is looking to have a family. He's weeding out the faithful from this failed antfarm.

I have asked God jokingly sort of in a way if there is in the next life or his kingdom any form of commerce and if so, I would like a copyright on a slogan. I want to put it on  T-Shirts, Ball Caps, Bumperstickers or whatever is hip.

It's "What were we thinking?".

We die, we are off to some next level stuff. I have recently looked at death, and through faith it wasn't as scary as one thinks it is. We all do it at some time. It's just how did we face it? What did we do here? Did we prepare for that which is eternal?

Lastly, concerning other faiths. Judge not, lest you be judged. I know I am not God, I am nobody's judge and I don't want to be. I know my path and I have enough problems with it. I know I need to use my energy to focus on my path, and what I am suppose to do.  I can share my path, but I can't walk someone else's for them. I can speak what I believe is true. If I may, I will be at peace with all people.

No, to me God doesn't suck. Sometimes this battleground does, but hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Boy this just keeps gettin' better and better:

Quote
Jeanne Assam, the female congregant who shot a gunman who entered New Life church Sunday, said she felt weak as she approached him because she had been fasting. "I prayed for the Holy Spirit to guide me, for the Holy Spirit to be with me," she said. "My hands weren't even shaking. I knew what I had to do."

...

Assam said, "I give the credit to God. And I say that very humbly. God was with me and the whole time I was behind cover -- this has got to be God, because of the firepower that [the gunman] had vs. what I had -- was God. I did not run away and I didn't think for a minute to run away, I just knew that I was given the assignment to end this before it got too much worse. I just prayed for the Holy Spirit to guide me."

I'm  busting chops because whenever a bad situation is made better, folks seem all to willing to credit a deity,  when they really ought to use their noodle and question why a kind and merciful deity would have allowed that shit to happen in the first place.
